With the current massive outpouring of information regarding the fabled Holy Grail (or Grails) it is impossible to ignore what may be the very first Holy Grail on Earth, the Chintamani Stone, the “Treasure of the World.” Between 1923-1928 this stone, which first manifested on Earth many thousands of years before the Cup of Christ, was taken by the great Russian artist and mystic Nicholas Roerich into the heartland of the Far East in order to reunite it with the mother stone it had been separated from, a massive jewel that resided in Shambhala, the Land of the Immortals. We've been assuming that the gnome next to Shirley Temple represents a fleur de lis, but is it really? I think it looks more like a capital letter L has been imposed on the gnome's face.
And to me, it's even more important that we're talking about a GNOME, which is "one of a species of diminutive beings, usually described as shriveled little old men, that inhabit the interior of the earth and act as guardians of its treasures"
This seems to fit in with Jarv's overarching thesis of treasure more so than the supposed Fleur De Lis that may or may not be there.
I definitely think that it's VERY important, due to its placement right at the Temple Do(o)rs, and especially due to the fact that it's the only item on the cover NOT listed in the "who's who on Pepper list.
Again, we have a gnome (guardians of treasure) with a POUND STERLING symbol (L) on its face, but it also looks to me almost like a ROCK. Could this gnome/rock represent the Philosopher's Stone/Chintamani (AKA Grail, and supposedly brought to earth from Sirius), which are both said to have the power to turn base metals into GOLD? After all, the Chintamani Stone has often be referred to as the Treasure of the World.
