they were also thinking about calling it Beatles On Safari
That would have been really weird. I can't see that title fitting with the songs or album art.
lennon does wear the pith hat... All that hair is like a jungle with people peeping out. Aside from that, "nothing". Unless you want to draw a connection to bungalow bill and revolver.
The title abracadabra is interesting. Crowley has his special formula: abrahadabra
a ab abr abra abrah abraha abrahad abrahada abrahadab abrahadabr abrahadabra
i actually saw the "cadabra" charm in a finnish magazine, thought that was odd. Kind of a nationalist magazine by the looks of it.
there was that one iamaphoney video where it mentions paul having a sculpture of a motorcycle engine shaped like an H that was a gift. It had a name, but i dont remember from memory what it was.
I do know that for some reason i remembered the crowley hadabra formula when i heard that, and i was also reminded of kenneth anger's motorcycle fetish movies.
The fact that was a possible title is interesting because it suggests that around this time they (Who specifically?) were interested in magic. With a K or without.

Mssrs K & H assure the public their production will be second to none.

And the bands name came from the movie "The Wild One" w/Marlon Brando taken from the ex-motorcycle gang he was once a leader of...Lee Marvin says it a few times "The Beetles"we all missed ya! The Beetles Missed ya! ...a .connection....maybe..
would you mind posting some excerpts that stick out as you read this?
My personal knowledge of this period is really informed by something john said that they werent sure they were going to make another album. That this was the last beatles album but i dont necessarily believe that because the last lyric is "the end of the beginning."
abracadabra suggests the magick influence is strong enough to name an album after it. Then you have strawberry feilds/penny lane and the beginning of the magical sound.
I wonder about the connection to brian wilson's interest in fire engines, and the "clean machine" lyric in penny lane. There is an interview with brian (wilson) around this time. I cant help thinking he is being very subtle about something, like he is fucking with the interviewer by being cryptic. Maybe he is just stoned. But he is calling on a phone, i had the thought "maybe this isnt brian wilson..."
this is more or less fluff for the main point which is the connection between the beatles and the beach boys. It is a well documented thing, the competition/mutual influence.
Pet sounds doesnt seem to be very rich in clues. I would like to be proven wrong about that, and im sure clues can be taken away from it if you assume every time he mentions "breaking up" or "going away".
I mean:
"i know perfectly well im not where i should be and i've been very aware you've been patient with me and every time we break up so send back your love to me and after all i've done to you how can it be you stilll... Be... Lieve... In... Meeee."
so that can be taken as a clue, he isnt where he is supposed to be, he is dead. And we've been very patient. (talking about the future when the beatles were silent for months...)
but then you get into something my friend first told me about. He said "its like brian wilson know what he is doing and its bothering him." what is he doing? Messing with the minds of little girls. And so this lyric can be thought of as talking about albums. "every time we break up" refers to every time a new album is released and how every time they buy an album they "stretch out [their] love to [him]".
With this concept in mind other clues can be gathered. So basically brian wilson is writing the songs to you, the listener, and he is expressing his concern about our relationship.
At the very least this is bringing up the point that sometimes people interpret lyrics differently. Something that became so common that the beatles wrote lyrics that were "nonsense" just to fool around with the people that would read too much into lyrics and deify them.
However, pet sounds does seem to be saying something in it's lyrics. Another way of putting it is pet sounds is the logical first step and seems to set the mood for these subtle, subliminal messages.
Lennon said that all their message were subliminal. What is the subliminal message in "boys"? I think its pretty straight forward, ringo is talking about boys. So i think the "all of our message were subliminal" statement isnt true, unless you want to get off on a "tavistock homosexual agenda" tangent and that this is the TRUE meaning of "boys".
It would seem more likely that rubber soul and revolver was the period of transition, and by sgt pepper the thing was in place.
If you want to say the thing was bill, or faul, then very well, obviously it was in place by sgt pepper. but when you consider these points and the fact that jefferson airplane had written white rabbit before sgt pepper that would suggest they knew of paul's death before everyone else. Very unlikely a corporation like the beatles would tell so many people it's secret.
So obviously, maybe its not so obvious, there is more to "the thing" than just mccartney being dead. Obviously, there is a symbolic meaning to dead and death that doesnt require knowing about pauls death/replacement. So the paul is dead theories seem to obscure the truth. And the truth seems to have more to do with the "we're all dead" lyric than simply "paul is dead". And the "we're all dead" lyric seems to have more to do with an idea, a more universal idea than, say, all the beatles died and were replaced.

I read that whole thing and didn't see it anywhere, but other album title ideas were: After Geography Rock & Roll Hits of '66 Magic Circle and Four Sides of the Circle.
Usually, when we hear or read something new, we just compare it to our own ideas. If it is the same, we accept it and say that it is correct. If it is not, we say it is incorrect. In either case, we learn nothing. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh ~

Also, apparently for the longest time the Abbey Road album was slated to be named Everest.
Ever Rest
once, there was a way......
To GET BACK Home
its around this time of year that we will discover this is all about all about all about
i just had a strange sensation. im bobby vinton right now. this space age vision plane of language and soft strobbing light resembles something. what is this curious device. perhaps i will put my thoughts into it. when you are not signed in the background is gray. when you sign in its black. a year ago or so the winds of change came out. man woman desire love. no one will believe me so ill put my thoughts into this thing. i can see all the people in the windows of an apartment building doing all the things they love doing. i pass by the windows very quickly. that theremin reminded me of... i have to go back.

The official Tibetan name for Mount Everest is Qomolangma (Tibetan: ཇོ་མོ་གླང་མ, Wylie: Jo mo glang ma, ZYPY: Qomolangma; often spelled Chomolungma; literally "Holy Mother"). The official Chinese name is Zhumulangma (simplified Chinese: 珠穆朗玛峰; traditional Chinese: 珠穆朗瑪峰; pinyin: Zhūmùlǎngmǎ Fēng; literally "Qomolangma Peak") although it is sometimes known as Shengmu Feng (simplified Chinese: 圣母峰; traditional Chinese: 聖母峰; pinyin: Shèngmǔ Fēng; literally "Holy Mother").
Nepalese will also call it Sagarmatha “Head of the Sky” (Sagarmatha is the name of the area)
The Tibetans will call it Chomolungma “short for Jomo Miyolangsangma" Mother Goddess of the Universe”. Most sherpas are saying that Miyolangsangma is the protector goddess of Everest. Demonstrating the immense respect and reverence that the locals have for this awesome mountain.
Miyolangsangma is the Tibetan Buddhist goddess who lives at the top of Chomolungma (Mt. Everest). She is one of the seven long-life sisters and her virtue is Inexhaustible Giving. She rides a golden tigress, and hands out the jewels of wishes to those deserving.
The word origin probable from the Aramaic language, in which ibra (אברא) means "I have created" and k'dibra (כדברא) which means "through my speech", providing a translation of abracadabra as "created as I say"
