From Newsday.comJohn Lennon planned to buy Montauk lovenestMay Pang, John Lennon's personal assistant, writes in an upcoming book that she and Lennon planned to buy a house in Montauk, reports the Indo-Asian News Service. Apparently Lennon made the decision after visiting Mick Jagger in the Hamptons in 1975. "During that visit, John and I saw a lovely Scottish-style cottage which was for sale, next to the famed lighthouse owned by Peter Beard and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean," writes Pang in "Instamatic Karma." "John decided it was time for us to have our own home and asked the real estate agent to show us the place. We fell in love with it and were about to put a binder on it the weekend of Feb. 1." Later, she writes, "Some things just weren't meant to be." In 1980, Lennon and Yoko Ono bought a house in Laurel Hollow. The stone and shingle home was located on 2.35 acres of property overlooking Cold Spring Harbor. Lennon supposedly filmed video singing "Dear Yoko" at the house. They supposedly paid $500,000 for the house. Today it is worth more than $4 million. Ono sold the house in 1987. weblogs.newsday.com/realestate/blog/2007/11/john_lennon_planned_to_buy_mon.html
