Sixty years ago, Norway's Nazi invaders saw a perfect opportunity to further Himmler's "Lebensborn" program, by encouraging their soldiers to have affairs with Norwegian women, often with Aryan features, and breed "racially superior children".
Some 10-12,000 "Lebensborn" children were born in Norway, the most famous of whom is former Abba singer ANNA-FRID LYNGSTAD (Frida).
Pampered during the war, they became pariahs after Germany's defeat.
The Norwegian government turned on the mothers, sending thousands to prison and declaring them and the children to be mentally retarded. Hundreds of children were dumped in insane asylums to suffer years of physical and mental abuse.
