On Youtube, a special from 1971, around the time Nilsson Schmillson came out. From the first song on part 1: the time has come the walrus said to speak of other things-----like a fallen star who works in a bar where yesterday is king-------the fans will stay for an hour or so they still remember his fame--but the time has come the walrus said to call your fans by name.Good stuff if you are a fan..

It sounds great. Nilsson Schmilsson was one of my favorite albums as a teenager. I'll check it out when I have a little extra time.

Mr. Richland’s Favorite Song, from the Aeriel Ballet album, released in 1968. Link to a review of that and the previous album. Found this bit of info at a site discussing Beatles acetates: Also, there is a stamp on the label that reads "Thank You, Tony Richland." Now, I do know that Tony Richland was a record promoter back in the '60s, and was actually the Mr. Richland referred to in Harry Nilsson's recording of "Mr. Richland's Favorite Song", on his1967 "Aerial Ballet" album. This was actually noted as John Lennon's favorite Nilsson song.... So, this puts the timeframe of the Come Together acetate into perspective - late '60s.

I wonder if Mr. Richland is who "Baby You're A Rich Man" is about. I believe Lili had once said that the "Keep all your money in a big brown bag inside a zoo" was something Faul did. But what would be "Mr. Richland's Favorite Song" if not BYARM? Still, that song would have come out at about the same time as the Nilsson song, so there might not be a connection. Still..."the walrus" gets mentioned, so.... I've always wondered what the significance of the Middle Eastern music in BYARC is. It makes me think of the lines:
"Well the night was falling as the desert world Began to settle down In the town they're searching for as everywhere But we never will be found."
from "Band On the Run". That seems to connect to the Samarkhand/Mistery Tour material somehow. If Paul was hiding out in that area, he would either be totally unnoticed, or stand out like a sore thumb, I'd think.
If Mr. Richland is involved, did he pay the way in some way? The line, "How does it feel to be one of the beautiful people?" suggests a ritzy nightspot in the Mediterranean, perhaps. So, given the Nilsson lines you quoted:
"-----like a fallen star who works in a bar where yesterday is king-------the fans will stay for an hour or so they still remember his fame--but the time has come the walrus said to call your fans by name."
one pictures Paul serving customers at an upscale night club. The line, "where yesterday is king" wouldn't be an uncommon theme for a night club, but the mention of "the walrus" makes me wonder if it means, "where (the song) 'YESTERDAY' is king." The "fallen star" Paul?
I've suspected that Neil Young's "Cowgirl in the Sand" is addressed to Paul in his 'hiding out' days after he left the Beatles, and that "Ruby in the dust" is the name of a bar. And there is a nightclub with this name in London. Certainly that could be a location for "beautiful people" to hang out in the 1960s/1970s. I just can't get the location right. London? California? Uzbekistan? Neil Young once said it was about the beaches of Spain! The idea that a bar scene described in Billy Joel's "Piano Man" pertains to the Beatles is mentioned at the Revolution9 PID site in th "Piano Man" thread.
Well...guess I'm off on a tangent! Thanks for the video! ;D

Harry Nilsson and the Beatles - www.nilssonschmilsson.com/harry-nilsson-and-the-beatles.htmlA fan of the Beatles, Harry Nilsson recorded several of the group's songs. On his first album for RCA, Pandemonium Shadow Show, Nilsson included his version of "She's Leaving Home" and a version of "You Can't Do That" in which he weaved titles of Beatles songs into the song lyrics. The album was released in 1967. Derek Taylor, the former press secretary for the Beatles, heard Nilsson's album and sent copies to his friends including the Beatles. When John Lennon and Paul McCartney arrived in New York to announce the formation of Apple, they held a press conference. When asked to name their favorite American singer, they responded "Nilsson." Asked to name their favorite American group, they again said "Nilsson."
At the Beatles's invitation, Nilsson visited the Beatles's in London while the Fab Four recorded their "White Album." One evening, Paul McCartney visited Nilsson and his wife Diane in their hotel room. McCartney played his guitar while singing selections from the album. One of the songs was "Mother Nature's Son" which Nilsson included on his 1969 album Harry.
After Paul McCartney announced his departure from the Beatles, rumors spread that the group would continue with the addition of Harry Nilsson and Billy Preston. Nilsson became friends with John Lennon and Ringo Starr. After purchasing an apartment in London in the early 1970s, Nilsson hired Ringo Starr and Ringo's furniture-designer partner, Robin Cruikshank, to redecorate the apartment. After inspecting the result, Nilsson asked them to replace a stained-glass panel in the bathroom which included an image of a hangman's noose. In the mid-1970s, Nilsson and John Lennon's antics during Lennon's "lost weekend" generated newspaper headlines especially after the two were ejected from the Troubadour in Los Angeles for heckling the Smothers Brothers. Harry Nilsson spent of 1974 working (and partying) with John Lennon and Ringo Starr. Lennon produced Nilsson's Pussy Cats album which was released that year. Nilsson helped Lennon write the song "Old Dirt Road" (Nilsson contributed the line "Trying to shovel smoke with a pitchfork in the wind) and sang backing vocals for the song which was released on Lennon's Walls and Bridges album. Also in 1974, Nilsson and Ringo Starr appeared in the film "Son of Dracula" with Harry starring as "Count Down" and Ringo playing the Merlin the Magician. After Son of Dracula, Nilsson and Starr worked on a film called "Ringo And Harry's Night Out" which was never completed. Helping Ringo record his Goodnight Vienna album, both John Lennon and Harry Nilsson recorded guide vocals for "Only You." Later someone combined bootleg versions of the two vocal tracks to create a Lennon/Nilsson duet. On November 28, 1979, the Los Angeles home Ringo Starr rented from Harry Nilsson caught fire. No one was injured, but Starr lost many of his Beatles momentos. In 1980, after John Lennon was shot and killed outside his New York home, Nilsson traveled to New York to console Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono. Nilsson also offered his home to Ringo Starr who stayed with Nilsson, avoiding the press in the days after Lennon's murder. Nilsson dedicated himself to supporting sensible gun control laws and became the spokesperson for the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence. When Harry Nilsson died in 1994, George Harrison attended his funeral. Ringo Starr was out of the country and unable to attend, but Starr's wife, Barbara Bach, was there. I have to wonder if John was seriously considering having Harry take Paul's place, once they revealed the truth about what happened to Paul. I read somewhere else that John listened to Harry's Pandemonium Shadow Show album for 36 hours straight when Derek Taylor gave it to him. I think that John saw something in Harry. Harry & Paul were both Gemini's. Harry's voice was as good ( if not better ) than Paul's.

Excellent information lili. Did Nilsson ghostwrite "Mother Nature's Son" and other Faul/Beatles songs? It's his style. As part of a behind-the-scenes CIA/MI6 songwriting group to prop up the Beatles? Nilsson became an alcoholic. Wait, "No conspiracies surrounding Harry Nilsson" --- Belfast Telegraph After a brief spate of alcohol-related incidents (Keith Moon, Bon Scott and John Bonham among ... I'm rebuilding my Youtube collection, let's see if I can avoid getting banned this time. The key is avoiding certain keywords, such as "BBC", "Dick Clark" or "Oprah". I pretty much avoid keywords altogether really. youtube.com/profile?user=Glassonion62

I just watched the alternate Hello, Goodbye video on YouTube. It's priceless. First off, Bill is bopping up & down, bending his knees. George looks over at him, as if to say, " you've got to be kidding" Then, John stares at Ringo to catch his eye, until Ringo looks back. They give each other a knowing look, then John watches Bill totally dispationately. There is no expression on John's face ( or George's for that matter ) as Bill sings the song. They do not look happy to be there.

No, and here's why: Were they going to use doubles, why all the care to slant the floor slightly downward to the left, so as to to minimize the sight of a too tall Paul.. Still didn't work in the outtake versions, although the version that they sent to Ed Sullivan has all the slight of hand working just right.
You know what happened? They sent John, George and Ringo in there with orders to "paste a smile on your face". Worked with Ringo, 'cause that's just how he is, amenable. George said eff you, and John was hard to figure really.

But after watching that guy transform himself into the King of Pop, using make-up/hairpieces, I gotta wonder. Could almost any celebrity facial template be super-imposed over our own? I mean, just using make-up and maybe some light prosthetics? Provided, we had similar cranial type measurements (eye shape, distance between eyes, jaw bone structure, etc.), as the facial template we were meant to emulate? And by the way, the George in the photo above has always looked like a Tara Browne, to me.

Who Is Harry Nilsson (And Why Is Everybody Talkin' About Him)? (Full Documentary) | Amplifiedwww.youtube.com/watch?v=Je8g10Q3-gYAmplified - Music & Pop Culture Documentaries Dec 28, 2021 Everybody's Talkin', a song written by Fred Neil, in 1966, and sung by Harry Nilsson. There's that name "Neil" again. Spelled so that it looks like "lying" backward, as opposed to spelling it "Neal". Weird lyrics: Everybody's talkin' at me I don't hear a word they're sayin' Only the echoes of my mind People stoppin' starin' I can't see their faces (And just why can't he see their faces, just their EYES! Are they in surgical masks, as in plastic surgery?) Only the shadows of their eyes
I'm going where the sun keeps shining Through the pouring rain Going where the weather suits my clothes Banking off of the northeast winds Sailing on a summer breeze And skipping over the ocean like a stone
Then.....I won't let you leave my love behind (Any guesses, here? Till his love arrives, he spends his time just making rhymes of YESTERDAY???)So, the song written in 1966, looks like a nature's child followed the sun, before the band was on the run. And this cover art? A Paul escaped as a "Nilsson"? Fallen angel? He looks a bit like a Paul here, but as a blonde. Someone in the video B put up says he was the closest thing to an American Beatle. Hmmm......
