Never mind that 'McCartney Eye' thing. Yoko prsesents:music.msn.com/music/article.aspx?news=277404>1=7702© APYoko OnoYoko to Unveil Light Tower for Lennon Sept. 27, 2007, 11:51 AM EST The Associated Press LOS ANGELES -- Yoko Ono will unveil the Imagine Peace Tower in Reykjavik, Iceland, on Oct. 9 — on what would have been husband John Lennon's 67th birthday. Lennon was shot and killed outside their New York City apartment by deranged fan Mark David Chapman on Dec. 8, 1980. "This is something that we spoke about 40 years ago," Ono told The Associated Press by phone this week before heading for Iceland. "Our dream is finally coming true." The Imagine Peace Tower is a stories-tall beam of light that will emanate from a wishing well bearing the words "imagine peace" in 24 languages. The tower will be lit each year from Oct. 9 to Dec. 8, "so it has the feeling of the shortness of life, but the light is eternal," Ono said. Ono, 74, came up with the concept for the light tower in 1965. Lennon was interested, she said. "He was visualizing then that it would probably become a reality one day," she said. When she turned 70, Ono decided she needed a place to keep the thousands of wishes she had collected through the "wish trees" she had set up at gallery shows around the world. "I was collecting the wishes for world peace, of course," she said. "I thought: 'I have to put them in a tower or something ... a peace tower.'" With that, she set out to make her conceptual light sculpture a reality. Engineers from Iceland and Japan worked from her design to build a 55-foot platform beneath a 6 1/2-foot-tall wishing well that houses nine spotlights. The tower sits on the coast of the Island of Vioey. Ono said she chose Iceland "because it is a very eco-friendly country" that relies on geothermal energy. "It's so beautiful," she said. "There's a certain strangeness to it. I would like to say it's magical." The wishes Ono has collected — about 495,000 so far — will be buried in "capsules" around the tower, each topped with a tree. "Eventually it will be like a forest," she said. Wishes can be submitted by mail or through the Imagine Peace Web site. "This is the biggest birthday present I gave to John," Ono said. "He's very, very happy about it, I know."

Lennon trumps McCartney from beyond the grave!
Sounds pretty epic..... Tower made of light surrounded by a forest of wishes......
SO now we've got the Lennon Light, the McCartney Eye; What next? Ringo's Roost (for Homeless Fowls)?

Hee Hee... I have to wonder if there is some kind of Occult significance to what Yoko has done. I have doubts about it being entirely altruistic.

Almost time for the big peace imagining. I'll participate out of respect for the idea, and for John, and inspite of Yoko. But anything that negates the power of Bush/Cheney etc. is worth doing, and sorely needed. he's dead! I feel peacefuller already. ;D I put on Christmas music to help get me into that "peaceful" mood. Honest! (Wish it would snow...) So, uh...how was it for you? I'm going to see Crosby and Nash tonight. I wonder if they'll pay a tribute to John?

Well... I was expecting it to be a bit brighter than that - but other than that, it was good. If they'd played Give Peace a Chance first, rather than the NWO anthem that Imagine will invariably become I'd be happier. But still, if its for world peace then I'm game... it looks a lot brighter from the lower angle camera shots.
Well, there we go... its all over now. Peace and Love to all of you, my friends ;D
Have fun with that gig tonight, LB - I'm sure they'll play at least a song, if not one of his then at least one in memory of him. It is his birthday after all

'...if I didn't laugh, I'd cry' Yeah, I was kinda pissed off for a while seeing as how it totally wasn't my fault in any way - not that it was really anyone's fault... well, except maybe my own for having such a potty mouth... but anyway, nothing an hour or two of 'My Name is Earl' couldn't fix... except now I have Jason Lee's voice in my head every time I have an inner-monologue... in fact, its happening right now... weird

Well Crosby and Nash didn't even mention John's birthday, but they put on a top-notch performance. It was also the LOUDEST rock show I've ever been to. Bring ear protection if you go. www.timesleader.com/news/20071010_10_nash_ART.html"Crosby & Nash give audience feeling of deja vu By Lisa Sokolowski lsokolowski@timesleader.com Features Writer WILKES-BARRE – The show wasn’t even half over, and David Crosby and Graham Nash already received a standing ovation. Almost everyone in the audience at the Kirby Center was on their feet Tuesday night after “Cathedral,” a song that features Nash on keyboard. The crowd clapped that way after nearly every song – at least, almost every song in the second half of the show. They were cheering for the songs, the old rock ’n’ roll, and the simplicity, the reminder of an easier time. The seats were filled with middle-aged couples holding hands, singing along to lyrics that meant something to them before life got complicated with children and mortgages. “We left all the show biz stuff behind,” Nash said two songs into the show. “All we brought with us were songs.” And that was true. The two gray-haired men stood on matching rugs, four members of a backing band behind them filling the room. There wasn’t a laser light show or extravagant costume changes distracting from the two men. In fact, Nash didn’t even wear shoes. There were just two men (eyes were diverted from the less famous other four on stage), stripped down to the basics. They filled the room with anthems, jamming out to songs like “Almost Cut My Hair” – something Crosby still has yet to do. But the best moment came at the start of the second half. Out came Crosby and Nash, alone, with a keyboard. "This is why all the women fell in love with Nash," Crosby said as an introduction, adding that he wishes he had written it. And off they went into “Our House,” the beautiful and romantic tune, during which the crowd completely took over for the second chorus. That received an ovation. And after the following song – still just played by the duet – “Guinevere,” the crowd had the same reaction. “Thank you,” Nash would say from time to time. And witty crowd members would yell, “No, thank you.” But it was the reaction at the end of the songs, the cheers that seemed like they’d never stop, the clapping and singing with “Teach Your Children,” – the song that ended the set and probably has a different meaning now than it did to the audience when it was released – that was the biggest thank you of all. "---------------------------------------------------------- They'll be playing New Jersey all around Mommybird, and New England this week and next. Portsmouth N. H., JoJo, on October 23rd. (Highly recommended by moi.) www.crosbynash.com/tourI'll tell you 'bout Mr. Kirby later.

Thanks, LetterB. I have to give it some thought. I do have the opportunity to see every headliner in the book ( just about). Our biggest problem is funds. I did get to see Tony & Tina's Wedding a few months ago. That was hilarious !
