I recently saw a video of "Backbeat" in a discount bin at the local Hollywood Video store. I was tempted to buy it... ;D The Backbeat soundtrack cd is great! The band members are Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth) Mike Mills (REM) Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Don Fleming & Greg Dulli..... produced by Don Was. Damn good hard-rockin cd. Good sloppy jumpin' around rock.

Any Simpsons fans here? Seen the big screen version yet? There was a scene where Homer goes to a bar and plays a video game, caught my eye for obvious reasons: Wiki entry, spoiler alert

Yes, me, I think Simpson's is some brilliant stuff, mega loads.
If I NEED to laugh, and I am stuck on melancholy, I can not resist the Simpson's. One episode and I am gaffawing with the best of them. It's on automatic. And it's all the little things, the details in the periphery, that make it so worthwhile........
Can't WAIT to see the movie......

I'm seeing it on Friday, JoJo, and I can't wait! ;D I can't make myself click on that link, but I will do so after I see it. I'm being a super nice daughter and spending Friday with my dad--we've watched The Simpsons together for years. Despite its more recent downturn, I am still loving it as much as I ever did and can probably recite most episodes verbatim--sad, really.

My kids went to see it on premiere night. To say that we're Simpson fans is a vast understatement ! My hubby even has a Homer charm on his Italian charm bracelet. It's actually in two parts, and it's Homer reclining on the couch ! ;D

There are not any good movies out this summer seems like, the Simpsons are okay they make me laugh they slip in some NWO things (pro & con) that only they can get away with but they do things sometimes that are offensive to my christian sensibilities, and I get annoyed at overblown advertising, like Shrek 2 & 3.
Speaking of Shrek I'm really tired of trash talking children's movies with sexual refrences, like the lusty fairy godmother and crossdressing bartender in shrek2 and the sexualized penguins shaking & singing about sex in Happy Feet.
I wanna see more movies like children of men that explore these interesting times in which we live and where we might end up. I don't want to see anymore remakes or sequels.
Did any of you see a little known movie called Idiocracy if so any comments? There was a movie called The Bridge about suicides on the Goldengate Bridge that I missed at the theatres too. And a good one I didn't miss was The Devil And Daniel Johnston, I highly recomend it! I rented Hard Candy and it wasn't what I thought it would be, I'm a lil troubled by it. Borat troubled me too, come to think of it.
I wouldn't use those vending machines for the longest time because I felt and still do that they are one step closer to buying and selling with the mark, but when I saw the price of a daily rental 3.99 at the stores, I gave in to that $1 machine. I'm still leary about it though.

Well, cartoon discussions, we bought a cheap DVD of old cartoons at Walmart fo $5 and just watching the first disc, we had blast from the past, Betty Boop, Popeye, Mighty Mouse, Little Lulu, and those pie eyed 1930's musical toons with singing animals...
Some gems can be found in the discount bins.......
The cartoons on tv now are not just cute little gems for kiddies, they are marketing monsters with a wide line of products to buy for the little kiddies....

The cartoons on tv now are not just cute little gems for kiddies, they are marketing monsters with a wide line of products to buy for the little kiddies.... I've got instructions from Leona to get every new Barbie dvd release, the Bratz dvd's & cd's.... the Powerpuff Girlz, & now... #1 on the list, ANYTHING Hannah Montana!.... the only thing not animated. Those Hannah Montana cd's aren't half bad actually.... don't mind playin' them at all. Wonder how much her daddy(Billy Ray Cyrus) had to do with the music. They're quite a bit better than the Bratz cd's....imo Now I'm Mr.Kiddie Music Critic But anyway, Hannah Montana... that dang Disney Channel is a marketing monster. Lots of crap for the kiddie for sure. But also, goin' back a few years... we're both big Scooby Doo fans! We've got LOTS of Scooby Doo dvd's. I see there's a new one comin' out soon! Chill Out Scooby Doo.... better go preorder it!
