Just found this news site that says Obla-di, Obla-da voted WORST SONG OF ALL TIME... Geez... I don't think it's that bad... it's even on my playlist. I can appreciate the ragga' beat mon... I've heard worse, IMO. news.scotsman.com/topics.cfm?tid=19&id=1299142004

Now that's kinda stupid. Granted, it's never been one of my faves, but really! VH1 has a show counting down the worst hits of alltime, funny show. Nothing so questionable on their list. Their #1 worst ended up being Jefferson Starship's We Built This City (On Rock-n-Roll) THAT I could agree with!!

Yeah, me too, although I think "Seasons In The Sun" still reigns #1 at the top of my list... It just bugs me every time I hear it. Here's another site ... look what they say about "Imagine". Although I do agree with him about Yoko. www.popculturemadness.com/Music/WORST.html

Simply just READ these lyrics ALOUD, right this very minute, AUDIBLY, in a serious voice, to at least ONE other human being, and TRY to maintain your composure. I double-dog dare ya'.
HAVING MY BABY
Sung by: Paul Anka with Odia Coates Written by: Paul Anka
PAUL: Havin' my baby What a lovely way of sayin' how much you love me Havin' my baby What a lovely way of sayin' what you're thinkin' of me I can see it, face is glowin' I can see in your eyes, I'm happy you know it....
BOTH: That you're havin' my baby PAUL: You're the woman I love and I love what it's doin' to ya BOTH: Havin' my baby PAUL: You're a woman in love and I love what's goin' through ya
PAUL: The need inside you, I see it showin' Whoa, the seed inside ya, baby, do you feel it growin'? Are you happy you know it? That you're....
BOTH: Havin' my baby
ODIA: I'm a woman in love and I love what it's doin' to me BOTH: Havin' my baby ODIA: I'm a woman in love and I love what's goin' through me
PAUL: Didn't have to keep it Wouldn't put ya through it You could have swept it from you life But you wouldn't do it, no, you wouldn't do it
BOTH: And you're havin' my baby
ODIA: I'm a woman in love and I love what it's doin' to me BOTH: Havin' my baby ODIA: I'm a woman in love and I love what's goin' through me
PAUL: Havin' my baby (havin' my baby) What a lovely way of sayin' how much you love me.
END OF QUOTE.
Help me, Jesus.

Actually, I feel I must tack on this sentiment: that I am glad "she" elects to keep the baby, and that "he" is so very appreciative of her willingness to endure the ordeal that certainly childbirth is.
And, it is a wonderful wonderful thing that couples get to experience, the fulfillment of creating a family, and the expectation of the love of the new born etc. on and on..yes and so forth.
But, somehow, knowing that at one time this was sung in front of audiences on microphone's in a Las Vegas showroom in tuxedo and evening gown under disco lights.......I dunno......it's the whole like picture/milieu HEYHEYHEY..is it JUST me?.....I mean, for Pete's sake, just give me Obla-Di!!!!

Yeah... it's thanks to that bloody song young girls everywhere assumed they'd end up with the love of their lives by "having his baby". Oh, boy... someone left the cake out in the rain I don't think that I can take it cause it took so long to bake it and I'll never have that recipe again... oh, NOOOO! Love this quote from the site. I don't personally think anything from Supertramp should have made the list, though... blasphemous! neither A Horse With No Name....

I'm a bit of a "really bad music" fan & have quite a large collection of what I call the so-bad-it's-good catagory of music. So I consider myself an expert somewhat of bad music. I really enjoy listening to a lot of it occationally, but there's one album that really stands out for it's badness. This is by far the worst & the most painful album I've ever bought..... by a LONG shot! Ya ready.... ya wanna suffer..... and make yer ears bleed?? This would be the record to search out right here.........

How can they include Ob-La-Di and not a bunch of mainstream, "gangsta" rap songs?
Cheers, Umang

Let's hear a clip or two from this one... I'm feeling masochistic tonight... yeeeesh! Oh no..... I'm talkin' much worse than any music club! A lot of this stuff I've had to search out....(my pre-internet days) Joey B. was really hard to find!! (thank god for ebay) Although the music club deal did help me get all the 60's Elvis movie soundtracks. So.... no, I purposely went about collecting "so-bad-it's-good" music over the last 20yrs or so. You aren't really masochistic enough to wanna hear a Joey Bishop song are ya.??

Then there was David Soul and
"Don't Give Up on Us Baby".......
and, the there was, although this really was meant to BE bubble gum music, Bobby Sherman's "Easy Come, and Easy Go." It actually delivers what it intends, and is in a way, harmless, although repeated listenings will do irreperable damage to the DNA.
Julie, Julie, Julie, Do Yo Love Me? also by Sherman.....
Torn Between Two Lovers
The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia
Ruby Red Dress, by Helen Reddy
You and Me Against the World, Helen Reddy
Delta Dawn, Helen Reddy
I Am Woman, Helen Reddy
And, Chad Everett of that hospital show had a top 40 hit. what was it?.....
I always like "I Can't Stand the Rain", by Ann Peebles, and many of those Al Green songs. There was just something infectious and powerful about the groove, and the mix...........

Cool... rock on, sister. I agree. Yet it seems to be all my kids wanna listen to... I'm sooo tired of these button-pushing wars on the car radio... think I'll pop the other speaker, instead of getting it fixed... I dunno, how bad can it be? ("they're coming to take me away, ha ha...")

I dunno, how bad can it be? ("they're coming to take me away, ha ha...") It can be FAR more painful than you could ever imagine For any beginner masochists, a really good source for this silly stuff is Rhino's Golden Throats series. I'm wondering if a Vol.5 is ever coming out, or if this series is finished, but I scanned the track listings for the 4 that are out there.... so check out this fine stack of silliness!

I never understood how Ob-lah-di Ob-lah-dah was voted the worst song of all time. It might be silly, but the worst? If you really wanted to vote a Beatles song the worst, there's several others I could think of, and the whole thing is silly, because it doesn't equate anything done by William Hung, Wesley Willis, or William Shatner.

Dare I say it? I've found the worst song of all time! ;D Ok, it's too easy, using a Yoko song, but..she made it, not me, hehe.. It's a song called Don't Worry Kyoko, and please! If you have small chilldren or dogs within earshot, you MUST move them to another room! If I'm being too mean spirited, I apologise, but..listen if you dare.. www.jojoplace.org/kyoko.mp3

Raw, nihilistic, and savage. Everything rock and roll purists uphold.
That just doesn't reply apply here, does it?
Well, the chick had plenty of power! We can say that!
In these cases, pitch and tone are irrelevant.
