The dominant colour of this coat of arms is Azure. Jupiter. Truth. The Sky God. This coat of arms is the Truth.
The colour that appears in this coat of arms that is NOT listed is Sanguine. It's considered a stain, non-standard tincture in heraldry. It takes the colour of arterial blood.
The Truth is stained with Blood.

Which makes Paul McCartney's Coat of Arms ever more interesting Arms: Or between two Flaunches fracted fesswise two Roundels Sable over all six Guitar Strings palewise throughout counterchanged. Crest: On a Wreath of the Colours A Liver Bird calling Sable supporting with the dexter claws a Guitar Or stringed Sable. Motto: ECCE COR MEUM (Behold my heart) The design of these arms (granted on Sir Paul's 59th birthday) clearly recalls Sir Paul's principal instrument, the guitar. In addition the cormorant or ‘liver bird' in the crest is a reference to his native city, Liverpool. The helmet is left-facing and has an open visor as is customary for knights. Which makes it interesting, was George Martin not knighted as well. The visor is also open on his, but it does not face left (sinister) at all. It's almost facing forward. Very interesting indeed. Let alone that McCartney's Knight's helmet is detached from the rest of the coat of arms. And of course, is almost completely Sable. Saturn. Grief. When the College of Arms granted official arms to Liverpool in 1797, they refer to the bird as a cormorant, adding that the sprig in the mouth is of laver, a type of seaweed, thus implying that the bird's appelation comes from the sprig. The bird thus appears to have originally been intended to be an eagle, but is now officially a cormorant. Many modern interpretations of the symbol are of a cormorant, although several - notably that on the arms of Liverpool Football Club distinctly show the short head and curved beak more readily associated with a bird of prey. A Liver Bird that was meant to be an Eagle. A bird that is not the bird intended. Just found out that unless a coat of arms maker is told otherwise, if there are 3 charges (in Martin's case, the 3 stag beetles) it is always 2 above, one below. This is standard practice on a Coat of Arms unless the requestor specifies otherwise. So we have to presume that 3 Beetles was always going to be what was on this Coat of Arms, regardless of how many Beatles were alive or dead, or how many one would think should be there. On McCartney's Coat of Arms, it is said the sable sections of the shield, the 4 portions, represent the 4 Beatles. Which makes it ever more interesting why Martin's Coat of Arms has so many mixed messages. The 3 charges are traditionally in their correct format, 2 above, 1 below. Though 1 is larger than the other, so this must have been specified. Is it that these 3 beetles represent something OTHER than those 4 lads from Liver Pool. Do they mean something else entirely. Hmmm.

Zebra ~ meaning uncertain The Zebra represents the Zebra crossing outside Abbey Road studios. Why the zebra is holding the crosier is interesting, there was once an Abbey in Abbey Road, maybe George Martin is channeling the spirit of the Bishop of Music?

The Fess Nebuly either signifies Clouds or Water. I would say Water, because the US Navy has similar features on its ship's crest. But it may mean Clouds or Air, several sites confirm this. George Martin was in the Royal navy so this may well be correct.

Well if he is, he's not blessing anyone with it, because it's held back and held in the wrong hand (dexter) to bless anyone

I know, it's an old thread but here's my analysis...
I have read the thread and 2 things seem to have people stumped/guessing.
Why only 3 beetles? and What is the significance of the bird and zebra?
Here goes, Always look for the most plausible explanations, then decode the hidden meaning!
The beetles are only 3 for this reason - everything George requested would have been deliberate including just 3 beetles on the shield. So you ask where is the fourth? It's below....the zebra.
Why are the top 2 beetles the same, smaller size? George and Ringo Who is the larger lower beetle then? John Why is he bigger? To stand out more aka be more 'significant' than the 2 smaller beetles.
Let's come back to the only 3 beetles on the shield... There is equal space for a fourth beetle and even room for it to have been as large as the lower beetle. Where you ask? See those 5 lines, tire tread. So if everything is deliberate by George Martin design wise, lets look above and below the lines... Why did he choose the jigsaw puzzle shapes? To signify that the tire marks removed pieces of the complete picture!
Shall we now cover the zebra and its significance? He was clever here... The zebra is facing left - heraldry convention lists this as sinister so George Martin chose this deliberately to mean a lie. The crux it is holding? The obvious would be the Abbey but it actually isn't the obvious meaning... everything he chose was deliberate - it's to signify a shepherd and deliberately put in the zebras 'right hand' What does a zebra signify animal wise? In the general sense I mean, eg what are the animals known for or thought to signify/embody...
And finally I come back to the bird at the top...
Indeed it is a martin - a house martin. It is holding a recorder (or is it a recorder?) in its 'left hand' eg under its left (sinister wing). So lets go with the obvious observation... He was martin the recorder. But everything was designed deliberately by him for a reason... The bird is a martin to represent himself, he is facing left (sinister) as he has been lying/deceiving The recorder signifies him 'recording' these lies (and you can take that to mean the music, or you could see the recorder to signify this is him 'recording' his confession, or both).
Is that enough to digest or would you like more?
The ribbons surrounding the edges are looking like saying 'f you!' but that isn't deliberate enough to really run with the idea unless we factor in the colours used... Which national flag is blue and white and whose white forms an 'x' ?
OK, so we have all this, and none of it is concrete evidence, people leave clues then one by one they die to never be able to tell the truth...
So why the sanguine colour? Read the circle motto... 'FOR GO_ A__ T__ _MPIRE'
What does it say? 'FOR GOD AND THE EMPIRE'
Interesting... George Martin was a very clever man indeed.
If anyone has any thoughts or comments regarding my post, I am ready with an open mind.
Hope it was worth me bumping after 4 years!

I noticed the For God and the Empire too and the fact that the shield? with the Beatles is on top of it. Could it be that if those two top ribbons are indicative of shooting the bird is it at the Empire?

I noticed the For God and the Empire too and the fact that the shield? with the Beatles is on top of it. Could it be that if those two top ribbons are indicative of shooting the bird is it at the Empire? Knowing how George Martin wanted to provide clues on his coat of arms of the truth about the past it would be easy to jump to your conclusion. I know if you examine an OBE/MBE that phrase is on the medal as a circle. But GM was a smart man and he obviously wanted to emphasise the statement by including it deliberately on his crest. Just kepp in mind that his crest is his design, and full of clues/messages. Back in 66 onwards I know from my research that the pound was weak, the phenomenon that was the Beatles was definately propping up the economy nicely in this country and was also creating an outward spiral of income generation/wealth for others directly and indirectly. From my limited research I found mention of Paul wanting to leave and head up to Scotland but I haven't investigated these claims further yet to see nust how valid they are. This timeframe was 1965-66 by the way. I try to hold no bias and just hope to research from the point of disproving as much of the replaced/died theorys as possible. I still believe this is the best way to either get to the truth, or at least it will show the strongest direction to aim for in the researching. There are only a few direct people left alive now that have more than just clues... "Paul" Ringo Jane Asher Yoko Jeff Lynne Heather Mills There may be others but the rest would likely be interested in keeping things secret. Even those above all have reason to not be open to talking about it. This is all the more reason to refrain from wild speculation as much as possible. Only by objectively looking at clues and examining evidence/leads, can we hope to find proof that can clear the mystery up. My biggest red flags are as follows: Jane's unwillingness to talk. "Paul" in the German paternity case not being willing to show that his DNA matches his brothers. George Martin's coat of arms. The fact that the Liverpool public Library holds historical microfilm of the local Liverpool Post (as the morning paper was called back then) yet it appears to be missing a certain copy on a certain day. On a lighter note, take the first letter of each of these words... William is now going solo.

Hmmm. I agree that three beetles was likely always the plan for the Sir George Coat of Arms. It was all about the scarab beetles and their resurrecting/life-sustaining power, as shown in the Twilight Zone episode clip I posted. I took a look at Sir George's Coat of Arms. The three beetles are correctly placed. Two above, apart from one another (Egyptians placed those beside the ears), then one below. The poster pointed out that one beetle is larger than the other two. Correct. Because the larger beetle, the one on the bottom, is the really important one. It is placed over the heart. Thus, it must be larger.
