The meaning behind the lyrics of Yesterday have always alluded me.
Of course sun king thought that the song was referring to his "irratable bowel syndrome" and about illness.
In 68 "paul" said the original lyrics were about scrambled eggs,or rather were written with the word "scrambled eggs" in place of the word "yesterday".
Hmm...
a recent post about Bettina got me thinking of her ordeal , mom got money for her in 66 ,she damanded a test in the 80s which failed to prove "paul mccartney" as her father.
She's an accomplished singer musician
Anyhow my point with this thread is that the lyrics to "Yesterday" make perfect sense if applied to Bettina.
Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they're here to stay
Oh I believe in yesterday
Suddenly, I'm not half the man I used to be
There's a shadow hanging over me
Oh yesterday came suddenly
Why she had to go I don't know
She wouldn't say
I said something wrong now I long for yesterday
Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they're here to stay
Oh I believe in yesterday
Why she had to go I don't know
She wouldn't say
I said something wrong now I long for yesterday
Yesterday love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh I believe in yesterday
The only thing that confuses me is the lyric;
"Why she had to go I don't know She wouldn't say I said something wrong now I long for yesterday"
What did Paul say/do to make Bettina's mother reject him?, or did he reject her? or both, I have a feeling he was sleeping around quite a bit.
Any thoughts?
