There was actually a rumor which swept London Jan. 1967, saying Paul died in a car crash! According to offical reports, a Beatles publicity agent called Paul and (at least allegedly) he was safe at home. The author of "Walrus was Paul" said that may have given the Beatles or close accociates the idea to plant "death clues," either as a (very sick) practical joke or marketing strategy. That may be true, but what about the very slim chance he did die then? Think of the roman numerals on the Ephgrave drum. Most people think it could be taken to mean Sept 11 or Nov. 9 "he die," but I think it can also mean Jan 8 (I IIX) that is just a day after. What do you think?

Unfortunately, the roman numeral for 8 is VIII.
Maybe the ONE IX could be the date because then that gives us Jan 9th - and splits the date giving number and the month giving number more coherently.
What could the first I figure mean though?

The September 11th date seems to fit best. That would give the Beatles enough time to find a replacement, find Bill, have the plastic surgery done on him and have him ready to make his first appearance as 'Paul' in December of 1966.
Remember, John left for Spain in September and George for India. This behavior would fit better if Paul had died in September than if he had died later.

Yeah, maybe he was in the accident Jan 7 and died in hospital Jan 9!
