And now for something different...
We're all insane here, because we either believe outright, have suspicions, or think something curious happened to Paul McCartney in the fall of 1966, and he was most probably replaced with a talented imitator.
When did you first believe this (again, insane) notion, and why? If you don't outright believe, then why do you have suspicions ?
For me, I've always felt something weird was going on with Paul McCartney. I couldn't quite reconcile that the man in Wings was the same as the moptop Beatle singing on Sullivan. Not that I believed he was actually replaced at that time, but it just seemed... off. I chalked it up to a change of hair and never really thought about it. After all, why would I think any different?
Then one boring night in early 2003, a friend of mine linked me to the old Uberkinder site (since it was creating quite a stir for a few brief months). I read through it, amazed that there might actually be something to the old Paul is dead "hoax" (which I never studied or researched, even as a Beatles fan). Through there, I found 60IF, and while I didn't believe it or understand the first-person narrative (and still don't, actually), it intrigued me further. That night I couldn't sleep, because something in my subconcious was trying to come out. Getting up, I began listening to Beatles albums. Instead of looking for backwards clues though, I just listened to the songs. I started with Magical Mystery Tour. I picked up on little things (like "you've been a naughty boy you let your face grow long) I hadn't noticed before, but what amazed me was that if I took Paul being replaced into consideration, a lot of the nonsensical songs from that album made sense. Hello, Goodbye. Strawberry Fields Forever. All You Need is Love.
Now I was really curious, but still not ready to believe such an outlandish claim. So I joined 60IF and mostly lurked. After a few months, I realized I was leaning on the side of the PIDers more than I was the PIAers. Suddenly, I realized that everything from Paul's change in appearance to a good portion of the Beatles song catalogue from '67 - '70 made sense now. Hell, even the internal strife (Paul vs. the rest of the band) that broke them up was clarified. PID/PWR was the missing piece of the puzzle that answered so many questions about Beatles lore (despite the official explanations, that is, which seem to change with each passing day).
