PAUL McCARTNEY'S NEW ALBUM TO FEATURE DIG AT PRESIDENT BUSH? Details are slowly emerging about Paul McCartney's upcoming album, which according to several sources might be titled Timelines. A source close to McCartney reportedly leaked some of the album's song titles to the Brazilian fan website blackbird.com.br. According to the source, one of the new tunes called "Comfort Of Love" includes a mention of McCartney's former songwriting partner John Lennon. Also featured is a song called "Bushie-Tushie Jelly Jam" a, quote, "reggae-style George Bush parody" and "I've Got My Magic Back" which sounds like "a mix between (the Beatles') 'Day Tripper' and 'Paperback Writer'." Jessica Lee who's the assistant manager for Ocean Way studios where McCartney has been recording most of the new album talked about working with McCartney on the website for her alma mater the Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology (oiart.org). Lee recalled that, quote, "The sessions were very chill. He liked to hang out on the roof during his breaks because the weather is so nice in L.A.... And he would wander the building and pop his head in on all the staff members and chat it up with them." bullet *She revealed that, "He would like to chat to me about his wife and new baby and give me advice about my life! Sometimes it would be like, 'Paul's giving me advice about my love life!!!'" She remembers that, "He was (recording) during Halloween and he popped in wearing a Beatles-era Paul McCartney mask! It was hilarious!" bullet *Nigel Godrich, one of the album's co-producers said earlier this month that the new album would be released on September 20th. bullet *McCartney will be hitting the road to support the new album. So far the only date and venue confirmed for the upcoming tour is September 16th in Miami at the American Airlines Arena. www.b104fm.com/rock_report.htm

So is Faul trying to tell us something with that Sept. 20 release date or is it just arbitrary? Sept. 20, 1966 would have been a tuesday. Was that Stupid Bloody Tuesday?

Good find Total! So is Faul trying to tell us something with that Sept. 20 release date or is it just arbitrary? Sept. 20, 1966 would have been a tuesday. Was that Stupid Bloody Tuesday? That's my thought too. Okay, we've seen references to September 11(Sgt. Pepper drumskin, MMT film date, one of Faul's event dates), September 12(Eleonor Rigby gravestone in the Free As A Bird video) and now this September 20 date yet no references to September 13.....

CHAOS AND CREATION IN THE BACKYARD Paul did an interview with BBC's Radio One DJ's Colin and Edith where he talked about a variety of topics and answered questions. One highlight was a question of the new album is a double album, Paul revealed that though he does have enough material for 2 albums the new album coming out in the fall will contain 13 songs and is called "Chaos and Creation in the Backyard". The other album is on the shelf for now. Paul of course talked about Live 8, playing Glastonbury and the perks of being Sir Paul McCartney - like not paying for ice creams. He also played an impromptu version of Lady Madonna with Colin & Edith on backing vocals! www.macca-central.com/macca-news/morenews.cfm?ID=1782

New tracklist at www.nme.com : PAUL McCARTNEY has confirmed details of his first new studio album in four years. ’Chaos And Creation In The Back Yard’ is released on September 12, and follows a four year gap since ’Driving Rain’. The album, co-produced by Nigel Godrich and McCartney, was recorded both in London and LA over a two year period. The ex-The Beatle played the majority of the instruments on the record. Speaking about the album, McCartney said: “I did not want to rush this album. I think it was worth the wait though. The music became more interesting over time and I’m really proud of what we did.” The tracklisting runs: * ‘Fine Line’ * ‘How Kind Of You’ * ‘Jenny Wren ‘ * ‘At The Mercy’ * ‘Friends To Go’ * ‘English Tea’ * ‘Too Much Rain’ * ‘A Certain Softness' * ‘Riding To Vanity Fair’ * ‘Follow Me’ * ‘Promise To You Girl’ * ‘This Never Happened Before’ * ‘Anyway’

More details from www.paulmccartney.com : "CHAOS AND CREATION IN THE BACK YARD" IN RECORD STORES SEPTEMBER 12TH "Chaos And Creation In The Back Yard," Paul McCartney's 20th studio recording since The Beatles, marks an end to a nearly four-year hiatus since his last studio recording, 2001's platinum certified "Driving Rain." The new 13-track album is co-produced by Nigel Godrich (Radiohead, Travis and Beck) and McCartney, and was recorded in London and Los Angeles over the course of the past two years. Its release coincides with the September 16th launch of McCartney's all new 37-city "US" Tour, his fastest selling concert tour ever. "Chaos And Creation In The Back Yard" is a return to the basics for McCartney. The album successfully fuses his undeniable song writing talents with his unparalleled musicianship. In fact, McCartney is credited with playing the majority of the instruments on the album, which is somewhat reminiscent of "McCartney" (1970) when he was credited with playing all of the instruments. They include the drums, guitar, bass, keyboards, as well as many of the less traditional instruments such as block flute, harmonium and flugelhorn. "Chaos And Creation In The Back Yard" is a mix of up-tempo piano driven McCartney instant classics such as 'Fine Line' and 'Promise To You Girl' and more introspective darker tracks such as 'At The Mercy,' 'Too Much Rain' and 'Riding To Vanity Fair.' One of the many highlights is a track entitled, 'Jenny Wren,' which Paul describes as "daughter of Blackbird," as well as 'Follow Me,' which McCartney debuted at The Glastonbury Festival, while on his '04 Summer European Tour. But "Chaos And Creation In The Back Yard" would not have been either if not for the suggestion of now legendary Beatles producer Sir George Martin. Familiar with Nigel's credentials and with his published desire to work with an established artist, Paul made the call that finally put the two together in the studio. The collaboration seemed an unlikely one and thus the rumors began. What type of album was McCartney making? "I did not want to rush this album," said McCartney, who despite repeated inquiries, touring commitments and pressure from his record label, managed to maintain his focus. "I think it was worth the wait though. The music became more interesting over time and I'm really proud of what we did." The results are evident throughout. The songs are sonically robust, the instrumentation and orchestration first rate and the chemistry between Paul and Nigel apparent. The album has an organic feel reminiscent of Paul's first solo release, "McCartney," (1970) and some of The Beatles later recordings. "We really made a lot of it up as we went along," added McCartney. "I'd try something and if it didn't work I'd try something else until it did. It was like making a go-cart in the backyard." "When Paul and I got together we had a common goal," said Godrich. "We wanted to make a great album that was true to Paul. I think that's exactly what we did." Heard it about 10 times now and I'm loving it, here's the lyrics:
A FINE LINE by Paul McCartney
There is a fine line between wrecklessness and courage Its about time you understood which one to take Its a fine line when your decision makes a difference Get it wrong and you're making a big mistake
Come home brother all is forgiven We all cried when you were driven away Come home brother everything is better Everything is better when you come home to stay
Whatever's more important to you You've got to change what you want to do Whatever's more important to be That's the you that you gotta see
Its a long way between chaos and creation if you don't say which one of these you're gonna choose Its a long day and in every contradiction They say its a game that youre bound to lose
Come home brother all is forgiven We all cried when you were driven away Come home brother everything is better Everything is better when you come home to stay
Come on back, come on back Come on back to me - eeeeeeee!
Its a fine line! Its a fine line! Whatever's more important to you [Its a fine line] You got to choose what you want to do Whatevers more important to be [Its a fine line] Thats the thing that you gotta see
Its a fine line!....

I listened to it a couple of times while it was up. I thought it was great! I don't know how big of a hit it'll be, though. But I'm not sure that's what's really important for Bill right now. Just gettting some good reviews, and having his fans like it, is what might matter more at this point for him. Although he must want it to do well. I'm hoping the CD is as good as it sounds like it might be. I checked out the link after it went down. They've replaced "Fine Line" with "The World's Most Annoying Song." I actually listened to all of it..I couldn't help myself. It truly sucks.

That truly IS the most annoying song in the history of the entire world. Just like the rest of the sh*t I stumble onto on the radio nowadays. The redundancy. I guess its supposed to be about rap grooves. Beats. Loops. Samples. I'd rather staple my face to the business side of a paper plate loaded down with something hot and gooey. Like spaghetti. Always thinking of food. And, the flute bit----aye, Carumba! The torturing of Herbie Mann in exile. That song goes absolutely nowhere, over and over again. Which is a concept I well understand. ;D But I wanted to hear the new McCartney song! Why'd they have to take it down? OK, I know why....but, Why am I ALWAYS an hour late for everything? Instant Karma's got me.

Why do I get the feeling that Bill is repeating the same ideals in his song titles. I'll have to look up all his CD's or check the one's that I have. But I can't help shaking the feeling that there's a theme in all of them somewhere. Or am I just reading too much into it all?! Thanx for posting them though, Jan. I really think this new Bill Cd is gonna be a real winner. Maybe his best solo attempt ever. Of course, they're never really solo Cd's, 'cause Paul is always with him in some way. Without Paul, there would be no Faul records...I dunno how Billy Sheppard would've sold without using Paul McCartney's name. Not too sound cynical. IT's just weird that's all. It's a Macca record, but it isn't.

Good pic, and and I don't recall him ever doing this on a sleeve before, using a younger picture of "himself"?
Wild guess at symbolism, the "dirty laundry" has been cleaned?
