Hello everyone! Even before I became aware of the PID theory, just by looking at photos of "Paul", I'd been aware that his appearance had undergone very drastic changes after '66, which I'd ascribed to loss of baby fat, cosmetic surgery and drugs... (that was a long time ago, I was 12 then). I knew that something was off, and the discovery of the PID "rumor" unsettled me for a while. I kept that feeling buried deep within the recesses of my mind for quite a long time and it's not until a few months ago that I really took interest in the whole thing... even though I find all the mythmaking surrounding all this very opaque... (you know, Illuminati and stuff... Neil Aspinall who's in fact Paul etc) This has made my curiosity quite acute as to other celeb replacements. I guess I can't contribute much due to poor IT skills and I hope you won't mind... P.S: I'm no longer a fan of the Beatles

I think CoconutFudge meant to say, "This is a great place full of brilliant people; myself included." As for not being a fan of the Beatles, well, you know it can be very easy to be disillusioned, to be sure. But who wants to be "illusioned" anyway? I say put yourself in their boots, and ask yourself if you could have done better. In any case, I say things aren't always as they appear! (Bet ya never heard that one before! ) So be disillusioned for now, if you must, but I think you'll be pleasantly surprised, in time. Heck, I think you may be so surprised that "Woooooow!" is what you'll be saying! (Which, of course, is altogether fitting! In any case, welcome aboard. 'Brilliantly' 'Yours, Truly' - Letter B

Ah, always so charming, Letter B. You flatter me! Thank you. I forgot to ask about your "not a fan" status with the Beatles, 'wow.' I am just wondering if you feel that way because you are angry and feel as if you have been deceived or have you just plain moved on from liking the Beatles? When I began to read about evidence that worked to confirm my suspicions, I felt a bit betrayed and hurt myself for a period of time and very nearly got rid of some of my later Beatles albums. I decided not to sell anything, since I really love the music beyond belief, and I am most definitely glad about this. I am wondering if you are the same. Just curious.

As for not being a fan of the Beatles, well, you know it can be very easy to be disillusioned, to be sure. But who wants to be "illusioned" anyway? I don't see why it's impossible to admire the Beatles as musicians and enjoy their music and have disdain for them as people. It is not at all uncommon for high achievers, especially in the entertainment industry, to display glaring human flaws. Yes, by taking Shakespeare's advice, which is to tell the truth and shame the devil. Oh, I see. This hideous joke or this hideous lie -- whatever it is -- will prove to have taken place in a context that actually does credit to the people who orchestrated it. "Heck", I even have hopes that as you grow older and wiser, you'll realize that emoticons and cute language aren't a substitute for a moral code. You may also find that life is a lot easier when you hold everyone to (more or less) the same standard of behavior and don't cut breaks to the rich, the powerful, and the charasmatic. That way, you don't have to agonize over whether one individual is important enough to get a break that you're not willing to reserve for another.

65if2007,
I need to preface what I am going to say with the fact that I most definitely do not mean to insult or offend you on a personal level in any way. Although things don't always come out of my mouth (or fingers, I guess!) correctly, I really do mean well. I also acknowledge that Letter B can most certainly handle himself and doesn't need any defense from me, but I just would feel like I was doing something wrong on both my part and his if I didn't say what I thought.
Don't you think that you are being a bit quick to assume that Letter B was attempting to, in any way, criticize the original poster's proclaimed dislike of the Beatles? It just seems like a bit of a petty argument to me and your words seem rather... well, mean without real warrant to be as such. They seem to be a bit of a personal attack that I really don't even see a real reason for. To be honest, I myself am curious as to what the original poster meant by no longer being a fan. I don't think that it can be assumed that she meant that she no longer likes them as people while still respects them as musicians any more than it can be assumed that she thinks they are saints but doesn't care for their musical stylings any longer. It's not particularly clear and I think Letter B was, as I was, just trying to see what, specifically, the original poster has experienced or believes that changed her mind on the Beatles and how her mind was changed. I don't think it really calls for any mean-spirited remarks to provoke someone with good intentions, you know?
I don't mean to intrude so much as keep a friendly front around these parts. I find it odd sometimes that there is so much bickering about trivial things around here because, when it all comes down to it, most of us are trying to accomplish the same thing: find out more about this McCartney mystery. We're all of the same team, and I think that we are better off as a united group. Now, I'm of course not saying that we all should believe the exact same things, but I think that there is a constructive way to do things and a destructive way to do things. I believe that animosity doesn't really do much for this community. But hey, I'm a bit of a hippie, I guess!

Dear Lord, I see i've started a controversy... Ok, what I meant by not being a fan of the Beatles is 1) I outgrew them 2) I feel deceived in a way, not that I ever considered to be saints for sure, but all this business gives me the creeps... how can I listen to a late Beatles song without wondering who's singing in it now?... Of course, I respect them for their achievements. Thank you for the KIND posts...

P.S: I'm no longer a fan of the Beatles I know what ya mean... in a way.... I more or less outgrew them myself. I mean, I played them so much back in the dark ages when I was a school kid hippie, that it got burned out from over exposure. But after getting into all this stuff, I became a much bigger fan of the later stuff than I ever was before. Once I became aware of all the weird things goin' on in the music that weren't neccessarily apparent with a casual listen, it all became very fascinating all over again. In fact, I can fully appreciate their later work for the first time... now that I have a better understanding of what was goin' on at the time. The things they hid in this music is amazing. ...Not that your reaction is wrong or anything... WELCOME to the forum & have fun diggin' around, there's all sorts of good stuff to find around here.

Wow, I find it interesting that you wonder about who is singing what ? That is one of the reasons that I can't listen to Sgt. Pepper. I know that it's a masterpiece, but that block of "Paul" songs really disturbs me.
Welcome aboard ! ;D
