Let It Be is a copy, plagiarism, of Gilbert Becaud's hit song of the 1950s "Let It Be Me," somewhat improved melodically, with add lyrics of pro-apathy, inward-gazing urging along the lines of Doris Day "Que Sera Sera." Calculating brainwashing targeted at weakening the anti-war, civil rights, anti-capitalist generation.
The song stands up well enough on its own as a song.
There's no need for you to gild the lily by pointing out the worthy causes that the song might be put to.
Besides which, the individual who once fired members of his staff for eating meat is obviously NOT content to really let it be.
The individual who gave an interview expounding the benefits of LSD and who now presumes to tell other people what to put in their bodies and who even presumes to tell countries how to wage war and diplomacy -- from a 60's "peace activist" standpoint -- is obviously NOT in the employ of any conservative institution.
You know, we all, most of us, try to do the best we can, with decisions, how to handle situations, and people, and sometimes we misfire, or maybe other people have trouble with something we did that we thought we had every justification for; things don't always go as well as we would like. And we aren't trying to be unfair, mean, evil, unkind, or even just plain stupid. We do our best and hope it turns out well. Sometimes we find out we need to take responsibility for a mistake we have made. Sometimes we don't realize what OUR motives really are in the beginning of a thing. One day our motives become clear and we try to understand how they came about.
Somedays, though, it just seems that everybody has a gripe with somebody, somewhere, and no one is immune. And finding out that one has been minunderstood or even judged for a thing believed in deeply is bit disconcerting. And how do we react?
Do we whimper pathetically and melt down into a puddle of spineless ooze?
Yes.
I do. You all can be all brave and stoic and act like you don't care what other people think and stuff, but, as for me, I say that tossin' a good, full blown pity party is a start on the road to recovery. Cause sooner than later, you will get all p*ssed off for letting it interfere with your life, and you'll get a little cold about it and find the inner strength to
rise above worrying about it---and head back to your achievements.
I imagine Sir Paul has pretty thick skin nowadays. He must know how to put things in perspective. Keeping a clear perspective leads the way in weathering criticism. A sense of humor opens the attitude upbeat and focused. Areas I would do well to improve.
Taking vitamins will help keep the mind sharp. And when things get REALLY bad, there's always the five "T-H's":
Theragram, therapy, thympathy and thorazine.. But THe greatest is Thyme, because
Thyme heals EVERYTHING.
It' th-all tho' thimple, thumbtymth.
