Take A Breath (from the David Gilmour CD "
On an Island")
(David Gilmour)
www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-joCD_sJKwTake a breath
Take a deep breath now
Take a breath
A deep breath now
Take a breath
When you're down is where you find yourself.
When you drown there's nothing else.
If you're lost you'll need to turn yourself;
Then you'll find out that there's no one else
To make the moves that you can do.
When you fall from grace; your eyes in blue
(water on one level; drugs on another)Your every breath becomes another world
And the far horizon's living hell.
Take a breath
A deep breath now
This kind of love is hard to find.
I never got to you by being kind.
If I'm the one to throw you overboard,
At least I showed you how to swim for shore!
When you're down is where you'll know yourself.
Then if you're drown, there's nothing else.
When you're lost you need to find yourself;
Then you'll find out that there's no one else.

The song does suggest that somebody lived a Robinson Cruso existence by himself for a while,
having been jettisoned by whoever is singing this song.
(And we all know who that somebody is! My new slogan: "Be at Leslo!" )
Gee, did I say "Robinson Cruso"?
(And, ahem, Caruso was a famous singer:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enrico_Caruso )
And here's to you,
"Mrs. Robinson
",
(Cruso - and yes, "Mrs." - he was 'Jude -y' in disguise.)Jesus loves you more than you will know.
(He had turned to God)God bless you, please! Mrs. Robinson.
Heaven holds a place for those who pray,
Hey, hey, hey
We'd like to know a little bit about you for our files.
(He's at a detox/mental facility) We'd like to help you learn to help yourself.
Look around you: All you see are sympathetic eyes.
(the staff)Stroll around the grounds until you feel at home.
(He's at a facility that's probably on an island)*And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson,
Jesus loves you more than you will know.
God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson.
Heaven holds a place for those who pray,
Hey, hey, hey
Hiding in the hiding place where no one ever goes.
(anatomically where the sun don't shine)Put it in your pantry with your cupcakes.
(Put his 'Coca Cola' in his falsies drawer.)It's a little secret; just the Robinsons' affair.
Most of all you've got to hide it from the kids.
(the staff)Koo-koo-ka-choo, Mrs. Robinson,
(Goo goo ba goob)Jesus loves you more than you will know.
God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson.
Heaven holds a place for those who pray,
Hey, hey, hey
Sitting on a sofa on a Sunday afternoon;
(Occassions when he shoots up)Going to the candidate's debate.
Laugh about it.
Shout about it when you've got to choose
(between shooting up and doing something else)Every way you look at this, you lose.
Where have you gone, 'Joe DiMaggio'?
(His dealer)Our nation turns it's lonely eyes to you.
What's that you say, Mrs. Robinson?
"Jolting Joe has left, and gone away."
Hey hey hey.

Apparently JPM went to a treatment facility on an island, having been ratted out by David Gilmour.
(He later tried to escape, it would seem.)
The "yellow submarine base" was apparently a drug treatment facility; hence the name "Looking Glass"
in the TV show, (I presume). (Alice in Wonderland - Through the Looking Glass. One pill makes
you larger and one pill makes you small. etc.)
I never saw this TV show, btw. (I hate watching TV.)
* Somewhere on this site there is a discussion of the Cream song "White Room".
Someone located the place, and talked about how it was a place for "tired star-lings". Probably that's
the "Looking Glass".
