Now the vocals are not JPM's. It's a very close resemblance, to an untrained ear. But when you compare with the true vocals of JPM, you can notice the nuances JPM had that Bill couldn't copy. Those nuances are a part of a person's personality, not necessarily something performed by a trained voice, but is part of the soul of a person. It cannot be imitated.
Now there are some debates that this was written by JPM. This may have been a piece that had been written by JPM but never recorded by him or even a finished piece. Bill could have taken it and completed it his way.
It may have been a completed composition of JPM, but the story of the inspiration wouldn't fit the timing being that the accident was tied in to JPM's death.
It may be Bill's attempt to write and record a song in the vein of JPM with the help of George Martin, because the music was nothing resembling Beatle music.
