I managed to acquire a copy of this online, I don't remember where... It might have been here.
First off, I don't think they did a bad job, in fact, I think they sound pretty good. Not as good as the originals, but good nonetheless.
When I first started researching it was difficult to differentiate between photos of the true James Paul and the impostor because I (and everyone else) had been conditioned to associate Faul's appearance with Paul McCartney.
I've only recently been able to differentiate the true voice from the impostor's (for the most part).
So I figured I'd go back to the Billy Pepper album and see if I could hear a resemblance between Faul and any of the singers.
What struck me as odd is that there doesn't seem to be a single solo voice on any track, the 2 Beatles covers OR any of the original compositions. Everything is sung in harmony. EVERYTHING.
Both original Beatles tracks (She Loves You and Please Please Me) are nearly the same way, sung in harmony. The only exception is the call-and-response "Come ons" in 'Please Please Me.'
The call is sung solo by John, while the response and everything else is sung in harmony. In the Pepperpots' version, the call is in harmony as well.
Its nearly impossible to differentiate a single voice, whether that's relevant or not. Personally I don't sense shenanigans or that any voice on the record sounds like the new Paul. Just thought it was a little strange.
