Somehow I was pointed toward these images. Well, it appears that James Paul has at long last been located-------at some big family barbeque. I have no idea why, when, and where. Who knew that the road that leads to his door ran through the heart of hickory smoked goodness? And still wearing a tie. A white button down shirt. And spandex bicycle shorts. What's that about? See here: Chow down, JPM, chow down!

Wow, Doc, where did you get that picture? P.S. Well, I had googled for "images" at different times for "THE BEATLES", "PAUL MCCARTNEY", "JOHN LENNON", etc., and that picture came up as a google search item with the title of it something to the effect of "McCartney at barbecue" and of course they were kidding, commenting in a way on the similarity to Paul although it is not completely right, you see, but sort of reminiscent. I saved it and forgot about it but ran across it while moving files or I should say consolidating my mess of photos that have no organization. Nice pic of Jim.

Isn't that Michael J. Fox in the back? You've heard of "The Island of Misfit Toys"? This is "The Barbecue of Reclusive Superstars." Notice I was not present? Oh, right, I forget, I'm not a superstar. Just recklusive.

Hmmmm.........where WAS this barbecue? I wonder if Janis and Jimi were there as well? We've been barking up the wrong tree all along. A common outdoor barbecue; a very famous, great Southern tradition. How folksy! I have but one question remaining. Just what type of barbecue was being served that day? Carolina style, or Kansas City style? And just why does there appear to be no meat in McCartney's bun? Is this another clue? Is James Paul a vegetarian as well?

More importantly, would JPM be wearing spandex shorts??

More importantly, would JPM be wearing spandex shorts?? No, most likely not. Of course this person isn't really JPM; just a strange net find: that someone I do not even know posted him as a sort of look-a-like. I am still not really sure if the claims of JPM as having a round shaped head are true, but the comparison above of Sullivan JPM with Barbecue Man points up how round it might have been. But, the observation has a value limited by hearsay and lack of corroborating photos. Spandex? Maybe those are swimming trunks and there is a lake nearby. Now, the black tie is an odd choice........I would have chosen a lively pattern or even stripes for such a festive outdoor event.

Right, I was kidding of course, but I agree, what the person was doing was looking at an early picture of Paul and saying wow that looks like an aged enhanced version of him. (and not at all connecting it with the McCartney of record in his 40's or 50's)

Post by Doc on Nov 15, 2006 21:52:37 GMT -5
Yes, you are correct-----I completely missed your meaning until I just reread it. No one is saying that that is a representation os JPM in his 30's etc., but that, without regard to age or time, there is somewhat of a resemblance to an early memory of Macca.

But, WHAT can we make of THIS!: He has TOO MANY EYEBROWS! MISTAKE! ERROR! Call the make-up department! I mean, how do we reconcile THAT with.....with.....anything? OK, OK, I could have used a more "neutral" photo of Macca with less drama but when is he NOT making a big camera statement? Every photo is a laden with symbolism, no matter how subtle: Do you SEE what he is doing in the photo? He is using his hand and finger to block his left eye so that we can see it doesn't match Paul's! How diabolical! There is no other reason for that finger to be extended in that awkward way! But, now, here, HERE is one that is that just may prove that James Paul was around during the recording of "Let it Be"........ See what I mean? Victory by underplaying. Or...........IS that James Paul? Tough to decide.....

Huh, I never noticed the two eyebrows business before, this is in fact part of the gatefold of "McCartney II" (of which the title of course raises an eyebrow, haha) The gatefold itself:

Even so........only a man who was proficient in the theatrical arts........oh, well, never mind.

Of course also the man in this barbecue pic is entirely too young for that. July 19th? A day later. Hmmm. Our JPM was the 18th, mais oui?

This must have been a "sportin' black tie" bar b que! That better be bar b que Tofu burgers, or else he's become a carnivore...wait a minute! This is supposed to be JPM? Scratch that...JPM was a carnivore...is a carnivore.... Being out of the limelight...he doesn't look a day over 48....maybe he's on the departed or replaced Rock Star Ranch...And they eat healthier there. DOC, this man actually looks like Dudley Moore and Eric Idle's lovechild...not Paul Mc Cartney.. An interesting conversation piece....a distraction from Charlie Brill.

DOC, this man actually looks like Dudley Moore and Eric Idle's lovechild...not Paul Mc Cartney.. An interesting conversation piece....a distraction from Charlie Brill. Well I thought ol' Charlie Brill deserved a break from all the endless speculation. Dudley Moore? A little bit. Eric Idle? A tiny scoche. Actually, the people at that Barbecue posted it on some web page they have, many pictures from same barbecue, each with titles like (I am improvising these) "Sarah and Joyce at the Ketchup Table", "Moe grilling up some Texas burgers", "Aunt Doodle with the bug spray", etc,, and this one had this odd title--a name only, just, "Paul McCartney". I had googled "Paul McCartney" at Google images, as I have done as a routine once a month or so to see if anything new turns up, and I remember one night finding this one, and also another pic with the same title, Paul McCartney, a skinny black headed college age kid holding up the album cover to "Meet the Beatles" right next to his head as if to make a comparison. They looked absolutely nothing alike, but then, we've never seen anybody or even me do that sort of thing around here before, now have we? Delusions of resemblance; it's rampant these days. So, I don't know. I kinda thought Barbecue Man resembled Paul to some degree; again, it's hard to say because I was at the Georgia Tulip Festival years ago where some hippies were smoking LSD and I got a contact buzz from second hand acid smoke. Since then I have suffered occasionally from "Flashbulbs." So the moral is, put the camera away while you trip. Or something like that.

Either "Paul Mc Cartney" is the neatest Bar B Que eater, or there is nothing in his bun!
Perhaps he was at the "bun" table, but had not yet arrived at the Bar b q pulled pork? BBQ beef? BBQ chicken? I can't take it...which was his choice? Maybe a BBQ sloppy joe? Come on now...wearing a white shirt at a picnic...unless he wears a bib...
I've never heard of second hand acid smoke...but perhaps you were just experiencing the inhalation of fumes from 'the vapors". You were overcome with the vapors..fumes...you know...acid flatulation....Okay, GAS....Acid Gas....Those hippie farts can be more toxic than radioactive fallout.... DUCK and COVER....
Head for the hills....cover yourself with wet newspaper until the blasts subsides....this always worked on those cheesey 1950's sci fi flicks....
Anyhow, James Paul at a cookout...quite dapper..and he peddles rather than uses a MOPED... Good thing....

As Doc wrote: "...when is he NOT making a big camera statement? Every photo is a laden with symbolism, no matter how subtle:"
"John" on the left, "Yoko" on the right; msg: "They're 'fruit loops' (nuts) !" in the middle.
