I need to learn how to make screen captures to illustrate, but I only have words at the moment. I would like to refer to the scene in "Lucifer Rising" right before the two Collosus sculptures are shown. The camera is pointing into the sky, and you can see some very light clouds or possibly contrails of white against the blue background. I stopped the video and had my son draw what he could see, as my eyes aren't what they were. He drew a square with one extended line on the left, and a circle with a tail on the right. As the scene continues, this framework in the sky is lowered down over the two statues, so the circle ends up merging with the statue on the right. The extended line would be coming down over the statue on the left. Elsewhere someone has posted information about the ankh and its connection to cartouche - so I was thinking maybe there is a message in there somewhere? The circle might indicate female energy vs. the line being male? The two pillars, often shown black/white are also indicative of the pos/neg flow - I really don't know if this fleshes out at all - just thought I'd throw it out on the table. yeah, images would be helpfull, especially for you Puzz. Jojo is very, very nice about explaining these things.... here's the basics on the Shen Ring en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shen_ring

I've been reading this hugely long article written about the Laurel Canyon crowd, and I came across this little tidbit about the original lead for the movie "Lucifer Rising" and his unfortunate death: The details of the incident that can be ascertained are, to put it mildly, rather disturbing. We know, for example, that a musician and writer named Raphael told writer Michael Walker that, before the child’s death, he had been present one evening at Vito’s place when Godot was brought out: “They passed that little boy around, naked, in a circle with their mouths. That was their thing about ‘introducing him to sensuality.’” We also know that Vito and Szou had a rather odd reaction to the death of their first-born son and only child, as recounted by Ms. DesBarres: “I was beside myself with sorrow, but Vito and Szou insisted on continuing our plans for the evening. We went out dancing, and when people asked where little Godot was, Vito said, ‘He died today.’ It was weird, really weird.” That it was, but perhaps even weirder is the full text of the quote from the San Francisco Weekly that I earlier presented you with an edited version of: “[Kenneth Anger’s] first candidate to play Lucifer, a 5-year-old boy whose hippie parents had been fixtures on the Los Angeles counterculture scene, fell through a skylight to his death. By 1967, Anger had relocated to San Francisco and was searching for a new Lucifer.” As many readers may be aware, he soon found his new Lucifer in the form of Mansonite and former Grass Roots guitarist Bobby “Cupid” Beausoleil. And so it was that the soon-to-be convicted murderer replaced the cherubic hippie child as the face of Lucifer. But what was it, one wonders, that drew Anger’s twisted eye to the young boy? And how close a relationship did Anger have with Paulekas and Franzoni? And most importantly, how did Godot Paulekas really die? We will likely never know for sure, but let’s just quickly review some of the factors that might come into play when searching for a solution to this mystery: * The young boy was reportedly subjected to pedophilic treatment by his parents and others. * The boy’s parents displayed a truly chilling indifference to the child’s death. * Kenneth Anger had expressed an interest in filming the boy. * Pamela DesBarres contends that the toddler died during a “wacky photo session.” * Alban Pfisterer has claimed that the child was drugged. * Bobby Beausoleil has said that some of Anger’s film projects were for private collectors: “every once in a while he’d do a little thing that wouldn’t be for distribution.” * Finally, according to biographer Bill Landis, Kenneth Anger was at one time investigated by the police on suspicion that he had been producing snuff flicks. www.davesweb.cnchost.com/nwsltr98.html

Speaking of Crowley.... www.luckymojo.com/esoteric/occultism/magic/ceremonial/crowley/220commentary.txt 7. Aiwass is the name given by Ouarda the Seer as that of the Intelligence Communicating. See note to Title. Hoor-paar-Kraat or Harpocrates, the `Babe in the Egg of Blue', is not merely the God of Silence in a conventional sense. He represents the Higher Self, the Holy Guardian Angel. The connexion is with the symbolism of the Dwarf in Mythology. He contains everything in Himself, but is unmanifested. See II:8. He is the First Letter of the Alphabet, Aleph, whose number is One, and his card in the Tarot is The Fool, numbered Zero. Aleph is attributed to the `Element' (in the old classification of things) of Air. Now as `One or Aleph he represents the Male Principle, the First Cause, and the free breath of Life, the sound of the vowel A being made with the open throat and mouth. As Zero he represents the female Principle, the fertile Mother. (An old name for the card is Mat, from the Italian `Matto', fool, but earlier also from Maut, the Egyptian Vulture- Mother-Goddess). Fertile, for the `Egg of Blue' is the Uterus, and in the Macrocosm the Body of Nuith, and it contains the Unborn Babe, helpless yet protected and nourished against the crocodiles and tigers shown on the card, just as the womb is sealed during gestation. He sits on a lotus, the yoni, which floats on the `Nile', the amniotic fluid. In his absolute innocence and ignorance he is `The Fool'; he is the `Saviour', being the Son who shall trample on the crocodiles and tigers, and avenge his father Osiris. Thus we see him as the `Great Fool' of Celtic legend, the `Pure Fool' of Act I of Parsifal, and, generally speaking, the insane person whose words have always been taken for oracles. But to be `Saviour' he must be born and grow to manhood; thus Parsifal acquires the Sacred Lance, emblem of virility. He usually wears the `Coat of many colours' like Joseph the `dreamer'; so he is also now the Green Man of spring festivals. But his `folly' is now not innocence but inspiration of wine; he drinks from the Graal, offered to him by the Priestess. So we see him fully armed as Bacchus Diphues, male and female in one, bearing the Thyrsus-rod, and a cluster of grapes or a wineskin, while a tiger leaps up by his side. This form is suggested in the Taro card, where `The fool' is shown with a long wand and carrying a sack; his coat is motley. Tigers and Crocodiles follow him, thus linking this image with that of Harpocrates. Almost identical symbols are those of the secret God of the Templars, the bi-sexual Baphomet, and of Zeus Arrhenothelus, equally bi-sexual, the Father-Mother of All in One Person. (He is shown in this full form in the Tarot Trump XV, `the Devil'.) Now Zeus being lord of Air, we are reminded that Aleph is the letter of Air. As Air we find the `Wandering Fool' pure wanton Breath, yet creative. Wind was supposed of old to impregnate the Vulture, which therefore was chosen to symbolize the Mother-Goddess. He is the Wandering Knight or Prince of Fairy Tales who marries the King's Daughter. This legend is derived from certain customs among exogamic tribes, for which see The Golden Bough. Thus one Europa, Semele and others claimed that Zeus -- Air* -- had enjoyed them in the form of a beast, bird, or what not; while later Mary attributed her condition to the agency of a Spirit -- Spiritus, breath, or air -- in the shape of a dove. But the `Small Person' of Hindu mysticism, the Dwarf insane yet crafty of many legends in many lands, is also this same `Holy Ghost', or Silent Self of a man, or his Holy Guardian Angel. He is almost the `Unconscious' of Freud, unknown, unaccountable, the silent Spirit, blowing `whither it listeth, but thou canst not tell whence it cometh or whither it goeth'. It commands with absolute authority when it appears at all, despite conscious reason and judgment. Aiwass is then, as this verse 7 states, the `minister' of this Hoor-paar-Kraat, that is of the Saviour of the World in the larger sense, and of mine own `Silent Self' in the lesser. A `minister' is one who performs a service, in this case evidently that of revealing; He was the intelligible medium between the Babe God -- the New Aeon about to be born -- and myself. This Book of the Law is the Voice of his Mother, His Father, and Himself. But on His appearing, He assumes the active form twin to Harpocrates, that of Ra-Hoor-Khuit. The Concealed Child becomes the Conquering Child, the armed Horus avenging his father Osiris. So also our own Silent Self, helpless and witless, hidden within us, will spring forth, if we have craft to loose him to the Light, spring lustily forward with his cry of Battle, the Word of our True Wills. This is the Task of the Adept, to have the Knowledge and Conversation of His Holy Guardian Angel, to become aware of his nature and his purpose, fulfilling them. Why is Aiwass thus spelt, when Aiwaz is the natural transliteration of [...]? Perhaps because he was not content with identifying Himself with Thelema, Agape, etc. by the number 93, but wished to express his nature by six letters (Six being the number of the Sun, the God-Man, etc.) whose value in Greek should be A=1, I=10, F=6, A=1, S=200, S=200: total 418, the number of Abrahadabra, the Magical Formula of the new Aeon! Note that I and V are the letters of the Father and the Son, also of the Virgin and the Bull, (See Liber 418) protected on either side by the letter of AIR, and followed by the letter of Fire twice over. Mwaaahahahaaa ;D

Now let us read the author's commentary on Number Nine, number nine, no. 9, #9 (not implying that it is THE number nine)
9. We are to pay attention to this Inmost Light; then comes the answering Light of Infinite Space. Note that the Light of Space is what men call Darkness; its nature is utterly incomprehensible to our uninitiated minds. It is the `veils' mentioned previously in this comment that obstruct the relation between Nuit and Hadit. We are not to worship the Khu, to fall in love with our Magical Image. To do this -- we have all done it -- is to forget our Truth. If we adore Form, it becomes opaque to Being, and may soon prove false to itself. The Khu in each of us includes the Cosmos as he knows it. To me, even another Khabs is only part of my Khu. Our own Khabs is our one sole Truth.

I am reading this book written by Kenneth Grant, an OTO and related acquaintence of Crowley. I just thought I would throw out a couple of paragraphs to give an indication of their thinking process:
Kenneth Grant, "Outside the Circles of Time"
'the primary study of the man who wishes to be a poet', wrote Rimbaud, 'is his own knowledge, entirely. He seeks for his soul, inspects, tempts it, instructs it. As soon as he knows it, his duty is its cultivation...The soul must be made monstrous...Isay that he must be a voyant, make himself into one. The poet makes himself into a seer by a long, tremendous and reasoned derangement of his senses. All the forms of love, suffering and folly, he seeks himself; he consumes in himself all poisons, in order to retain only the quintessences...Thus he attains the unknown; and when, at the point of madness, he finishes by losing the intelligence of his visions, he has beheld them!...
This formula of derangement was for Rimbaud, as for some of the greatest artists and magicians [and maybe musicians too?], the supreme key to inspiriation and the reception of vivid images such as those which flash and tremble upon the luminous canvases of a Dali or an Ernst. It is the kind of inspiration which Remy de Gourmant recognized as the source of Les Chants de Maldoror which, he said, 'will remain unique and from now on belongs to that list of works which...forms the abbreviated library and only possible reading of those whose ill-made spirits will not lend themselves to the everyday joys of the commonplace; or of conventional morality'.
It should be evident that those who let in the forces of the Qliphoth must themselves assume the Mask of the Beast. [*Note - maSk, not maRk] It is therefore not surprising to find that the entire gamut of so-called abnormal and perverted lusts has been exploited in attempts to transmit the vibrattions of extra-cosmic or at least extra-terrestrial forces.
Such forces were described by the ancients as demons, giants, elementals, dwarfs &c, and they were glossed under monstrous and bestial forms by the mythologies of all peoples. The magician, Michael Bertiauz, describes the translation of forces from Universe "B" to our own Universe "A", and their return, the the following words:
'Dagon will come again, as will mighty sorceries...for the mighty beasts of the deep have been unleashed and they have gone about their pathway of destruction, and far worse is expected....Hold to the powers I have given you, for only by lycanthropic transformation, by being and firstly becoming a monster shall the magician escape.'

Somewhere in my convoluted posts I mentioned the prolific usage of the word "LOVE" and thought there was another message being communicated with that word. If found this quote in the Grant book giving at least a peek at what they are saying with "All you need is LOVE" Kenneth Grant, "Outside the Circles of Time" Page 18 In a more limited and immediately applicable sense, one can apprehend this idea by understanding the elevenfold precept and its complement - LOVE is the law, love under will. Love is here identified with the method of effecting magical translation and transformation, for love - in the sense in which that word is used in AL - has an essentially bio-chemical and sexual connotation. Nightside of Eden contains a scheme of magical formulae and the modes of sexual sorcery which they imply. It is tolerably certain that Crowley himself did not fully recognize these implications. This may be explained by the fact that not until the year of his death (1947) did any massive contact occur between earth and extra-terrestrial Intelligences, a contact which his intercourse with Aiwass had helped to make possible.

Grant, "Nightside of Eden" Page 8
One of the meanings of Daath is Knowledge. It is called 'the sephira that is not a sephira.' In one aspect it is the child of Chokmah and Binah; in another, it is the Eighth Head of the Stooping Dragon, raised up when the Tree of Life was shattered and Macroprosopus set a flaming sword against Microprosopus. By permutation Doth (Daath) equates with OThD, another Hebrew word, meaning a 'ram' or an 'he-goat'; it is also the number of the Greek word duo, meaning 'two.' The double is the eidolon, doll, or shadow, glyphed by the ancient Egyptians by the Tat which is equivalent to Doth. Daath is also the Home of Choronzon, the Guardian of the Gate of the Abyss. Gathering together these various meanings we see that the Knowledge of Daath, or Death, is of the nature of the secret of Duality represented by the shadow or magical double whereby man overcomes death and enters in at the gate of Daath to explore the Abode of Choronzon, the Desert of Set.
Page 9 If for death we read Daath the verse assumes a profounder meaning for it is then seen to be a secret key of Hadit's function. Hadit is Shaitan or Set, Lord of the Desert and of the Great Gate of the Gulf whose guardian is Choronzon. The word or name Choronzon is in all probability a corruption of Chozzar whose symbol, the trident, equates him with Neptune-Nodens, the God of the Deep. Thus, Hadit (Neptune) and Nuit (Saturn), the dual principles of life, combine to form the averse or Choronzonic principle of Daath and Death; for this knowledge (Daath) is of the averse, reverse, or back side of the tree.
Daath was described by the qabalists as the false sephira because it had no place in the scheme of numbers from one to ten, no place that is in the dimension represented by the front or obverse of the Tree. In consequence it was considered to be the eleventh sephira. Eleven is the number of magick, of 'energy tending to change', which is the precise formula of the Operation of Daath, and the reason for its association with death as the supreme type of change.

Page 9-11
In the Tantric scheme of chakras, or microcosmic power-zones, Daath is attributed to the Zone of the Word, the Visuddha or throat-center. This center represents speech, but the Word in its occult sense of the True Voice (Ma Kheru) may be uttered only by a Magus, whose natural provenance is the second sephira, Chokmah, assigned to Hadit. The II (two) and the 11 (eleven) thus meet in Daath, the sphere of knowledge, for knowledge is possible only where duality (two; duo, II) prevails. These two - subject and object - unite, and their union causes change, which is the formula of magick. Union occurs in consciousness, where the act is reflected as in a mirror, and the act opens the gate through which the Will (Hadit) is projected. Its image appears in the mirror-world at the back of the Tree and in reverse, for in that dimension time flows backward, and man reverts to ape. The cynocephalus was chosen, therefore, as a magical symbol of the Word by the ancient Egyptians who attributed it to the moon-god, Thoth. The name of this god is equivalent to Doth (Daath) and it is significant that the moon is attributed to the kala that rays from Kether through the abyss to the solar or heart-center of the cosmos. The reflections of the sun (human consciousness) in the waters of the abyss is thus symbolized by Thoth and his cynocephalus as the man and his dog reflected in the moon. The cynocephalus or dog-headed ape utters the Word of the Magus (Hadit-Chokmah) in reverse. Frater Achad had an inkling of these mysteries and it led him to enunciate his Formula of Reversion. At about the same period the artist Austin Spare, working along similar lines, realized that in order to become God, man must regress to the primal or original state of consciousness. This is the ultimate rationale behind the attempts by occultists of all ages to leap backward and inward to the interior depths of the Tree, thereby reverting to the pre-eval state of consciousness before Kether transmitted the current of manifestation from the Eye of the Void (Ain). Many magicians go astray on that backward journey, their consciousness assumes forms of larval life that ante-dated the human. Then the Ape of Thoth mocks them as they struggle to extricate themselves from a swiftly accelerating reversion of consciousness that finally hurls them into oblivion. Such is the fate peculiar to Adepts who, nurturing their animal propensities while in the abyss, assume the form of beasts without first relinquishing the tendencies of the ego to use for personal ends the powers which these creatures symbolize. [Who is the Walrus?]

Nowhere Nightside of EdenPage 89-91 The Schwarschild 'black hole' in space which has been likened to a sponge or dougnut, or a solid mass perforated by worm-holes like Emmenthaler cheese, gives some idea of the anatomy of the multi-dimensional Tree. The wormholes are the hells or hidden holes, unnoticed because dwarfed by the spheres of the sephiroth. The leap across the abyss which the initiate has to make in order to transcend phenomenal existence and penetrate the Veil of the Void is vividly explicated by John Taylor in his book entitled Black Holes although, of course, his remarks have to be translated into terms of Typhonian metaphysics as I have done in the notes to what follows: It is precisely such a jump, through the 'superspace' of the interior of the doughnut, that is allowed by worm holes. They allow these direct connections which would otherwise take so long. We can imagine each of these worm holes as dots giving access to the doughnut's interior at the two points we are interested in, one we can call the earth, the other a distant star. We enter superspace through the wormhhole at the earth and leave it at the other wormhole at the distant star, the whole journey could be instantaneous. This extract is reminiscent of the Star Sponge vision which Crowley had during a magical retirement in New England, at Montauk, on the bank of Lake Pasquanay. Initiates of the Black Snake Cult will be reminded of the Voltigeurs, Vaulters or Leapers, described by Michael Bertiaux in connection with certain secret paths on the back of the Tree A legend preserved by the California Indians describes how seven mariners - the hohgates - speared a gigantic sea-lion which, in its death-throes, dragged them and their boat towards an immense whirlpool which lay to the north-west, at the place where souls are sucked down into the under-world. On the point of disappearing down the funnel of the vortex, the rope attaching them to the sea-lion snapped and the hohgates floated up to the skies where they were transformed into seven stars. The sea-lion was a form of the Typhonian dragon of the abyss, and the region of the whirlpool lay in the north-west which is the region traditionally assigned to the underworld, north being the realm of Typhonian darkness later transferred to the west as the place of the sun's death or disappearance into Amenta.

I've been inching my way through the 200+ pages of the Rotten Apple thread where a lot of good discussion has already taken place regarding the Crowley connection. At one point people were discussing the possibility of Paul/Faul being Crowley's son or grandson. There was a picture posted there of Paul's family. This sent me back to the file of Crowley pics that I'd downloaded. Am I hallucinating, or do I see similarities between Paul's parents and the two people on the right in the Crowley image? With a little searching, I found this photo on an O.T.O. site and the people in the photo are identified as (left to right): Jane Wolfe, Phyllis Seckler and Karl Germer in 1957. user.cyberlink.ch/~koenig/sunrise/pics.htm

I found this on Phyllis Seckler. I know there is a potential Canadian connection with Faul, so I'll post just in case: Born Phyllis Evelina Pratt on June 18, 1917, in the city of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Seckler is most famous for founding the California-based College of Thelema in 1973; a school for training students in occult sciences developed by the late British poet and mystic Aleister Crowley. www.thelema.org/college_of_thelema/meral-obit.html

If JPM was indeed born in 1942, then that McCartney family photo must have been taken no later then 1948 or 49. The differences I see could be accounted for by aging that took place between then and 1957, when the O.T.O. pic was taken. I think you're really on to something.

New O.T.O. groups in the US Although Charles Manson was never a member of any of the many O.T.O. groups, the tabloid press often rehashes the story of his brief contact with Georgina Brayton's 1960's 'Solar Lodge of the O.T.O.' The 'Caliphate' (the new American O.T.O. founded in 1977) has frequently described this earlier O.T.O. lodge 'irregular', but Phyllis Seckler, one of the 'Caliphate's' main protagonists (she was the wife of its founder, Grady L. McMurtry) has recently admitted that the 'Solar Lodge' was a genuine O.T.O. body. To exaggerate a little, one could say that without Manson the 'Caliphate' would not exist at all. Let's unfold a bit of the history. user.cyberlink.ch/~koenig/sunrise/manson.htmA later picture of Phyllis Seckler: Unfortunately I can't find any more younger pics of her yet. And I really don't know what the connection might be - the man she is pictured with was the leader of the OTO in L.A. but not one of her three husbands, although I guess that doesn't matter much with this crowd.

I'm sorry P(D)enny, I really don't know. I just saw the similarities in both faces, but I'm not implying they are the exact same people. On page 51 of this booklet, there is even a N. Meade Layne that looks like the other two, a founder of a separate Order. www.scribd.com/doc/3255122/SECRET-CIPHER-OF-THE-UFONAUTSI suppose I could be implying that Paul's mother was a slut (sorry Paul) - but right now it is only a few physical resemblances, which I understand isn't worth much. In the IAAP thread there had been comments about Faul's resemblance to Aleister so I was looking thru my photos again - and saw that one that reminded me of his parents. There seems to be so much Crowley symbolism coming up, I just don't know. If Paul's parents, for example, were members of such a group, the potential weirdness gets exponential.

I don't want to aggravate anyone. I can see from further reading that these kinds of speculative threads piss some people off. It just seems that if you are afraid to examine something, or don't post something because the idea is too far out there, then there is a chance I might miss something.
