When The Beatles and The Rolling Stones arrived in the US for the first time in 1964, The Beatles were known for just one hit song, "I Want to Hold Your Hand," and The Rolling Stones were billed beneath Bo Diddley and The Everly Brothers. But their American road manager, Bob Bonis, thought that something special was afoot, and photographed many of their first tours.
MORE ON THE ROLLING STONES
For decades, Bonis kept the images for himself. But when he passed away in 1991, his son, Alex, discovered a shoebox full of 3,500 of his father's intimate, never-before-seen photographs of both bands on stage, in rehearsal and goofing around between gigs.

Alex Bonis brought the photos to "rock archeologist" Larry Marion, who appraised their worth at millions of dollars. Rather than sell them, however, Bonis and Marion decided to open a gallery and put the images on display. In its opening exhibit, the Not Fade Away Gallery, located at 901 Broadway at 20th Street, will feature more than 50 of the "lost" photos, some of which they shared exclusively with The Post. "I've shown the photos to Ringo, who loved them," says Marion. "Keith [Richards] is going to come see the show."
