Yeah, I'm gonna find this hard to resist. And Rock band on the same day, wow. I may have to rethink my belief that game consoles are just for kids..

What scares me about this is what they will be doing to JPM's voice - "tweaking" it to sound more like Faul?
You can't be serious. Well over 99% of the population is unaware of a replacement or believes Sir Paul to be the original McCartney. Either way, who would "they" be fooling?

I guess it's necessary for the times we live in, but something always seems to be lost with anything that is touched. Who knows what strange, little anomalies may be tweaked or clipped out as if they have no intended importance...

Mastering(Pre-Mastering) is not mixing or re-mixing. Mastering is done to the final mix. The order of the songs are decided which best represents the feel of the album , maybe a touch of Compression/Limiting is added or "Polising Reverb", Band Dynamics and/or EQ -- but it's all done to the Final Mix. Nothing is done to the individual tracks. That is all done in the mixing stage. Nobody's voice can be changed. Production is the next step.
Being Digitally Remastered sounds grand! But although it's a delicate highly skilled operation it's also a bit of a con for the general record buying public who wouldn't notice the differece unless they also worked in a Recording or Mastering Studio!

There's a big difference between remastering & actually changing some vocals. There will be way too many audiophiles & Beatle "experts" examining these remasters for them to be able to get away with actually changing anything. The poop would really hit the fan if they were caught changing anything. The songs will be clearer, cleaner, & a little louder.... not altered. Besides.... why bother? The illusion has worked perfectly. Try bringing up PWR in any Beatle fan forum & see how long it takes for them to ban you. Being a bit of an audiophile/collector myself, I don't hesitate to re-buy stuff that has been remastered & sounds noticeably better. I have a feeling this stuff is going to sound much much better on these remasters. there should be a big difference in the overall sound quality. So far The Residents hold the record around here for my re-buying the same album Eskimo1 - white vinyl Eskimo2 - cd Eskimo3 - remastered cd Eskimo4 - dvd

I'm the kind of guy who buys gold-plated CDs for the marginal difference in audio quality, not to mention someone who seeks out earlier versions of CDs for the "inferior" mastering. I'm a completionist with my music collection, especially when it concerns any Beatles, solo Beatles, or friends of Beatles.
So this excites me. I remember how marvelous the Yellow Submarine Songtrack sounded and how I craved hearing the rest of the Beatles catalog in such clarity. But what really has me salivating is the mono box set. The mono selections have been slim for me, a guy born the same year as CDs came into the market place. Besides a few random CDs, the Hamburg material from Polydor and Bear Family, the EP and Singles box sets, and the Capitol Album boxes, there hasn't been much in the way of the music the way the Beatles intended it to be heard. Pepper in remastered mono is like the ultimate holy grail (besides Carnival of Light and the third new Anthology track), and it's finally being released.

Am I getting old,
I only seem to be buying reissues these days. Got the megadeluxe edition of Pearl Jam's debut and the reissues of Radiohead's first 3 albums this month. Saving up for the Neil Young Archives in june (hopefully), and now this. I will cough up the bucks,
Very interested to see what they do with this set.
All Love Jan

All Love Jan Over the last few years, I've probably spent more money on re-buying stuff I already have, as opposed to spending it on new stuff. Of course it has to be an artist who's important enough to me to be worth buying their entire catalog all over again, but the remastering also has to be a major improvement on the original. Most of the remasters I've invested in, the difference is just amazing. The remasters sound so much better it's almost like hearing that album for the first time. Hopefully this will be the case with these Beatle remasters. This will probably be the most scrutinized remastering job in the history of cd's, so I would imagine there's gonna be some big improvements in the overall sound. Lots more ooomph & sparkle & clarity ;D I've been really wanting the remastered Roxy Music catalog, but I've been holding off coz of finances right now. I did re-buy most of Bryan Ferry's early solo cd's & they sound great, so I'm sure the Roxy remasters also sound much better. Also got remastered XTC on my wishlist, all this stuff is on hold right now, but I'll probably have to bite the bullett & get the main Beatles box this fall.

It is not your fault that all the crap music is at the forfront and anything new that is decent being produced must be looked for and who has that kinda time these days? (I'd rather dust off the vinyl) Am I getting old, I only seem to be buying reissues these days. The Rolling Stone article:
On September 9, 2009, after a nearly 22-year wait, digitally remastered versions of all of the Beatles studio albums will be released, a press release has confirmed. Each album will feature the track listings and artwork as it was originally released in the U.K. and come with expanded booklets including original and newly written liner notes and rare photos. For a limited time, each of the Fab Four’s 12 proper albums will be “embedded” with a brief documentary about its making. The rereleases will include the Beatles’ 12 studio albums and Magical Mystery Tour as well as Past Masters Vol. I and II, which will be packaged as one collection. All 14 discs will be available with DVDs of the documentaries in a stereo box set, and a set titled The Beatles in Mono featuring 10 discs will also be released.
A crew of engineers at London’s Abbey Road Studios have spent four years working on the remasters using new technology and vintage equipment, the press release says, in an effort to preserve “the authenticity and integrity of the original analogue recordings” and ensure “the highest fidelity the catalog has seen since its original release.”
9/9/09 promises to be a huge day in Beatles lore, as it’s the same day The Beatles: Rock Band will hit stores. This weekend brought a bit of Beatles news, too, as Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr reunited onstage at a New York benefit for David Lynch’s Transcendental Meditation foundation (see photos here). Preorders for the remasters are already popping up on Amazon.co.uk. Demand for Beatles remasters has steadily increased since 1987, when Capitol/EMI first released the Beatles’ discography on CD with what many audiophile fans deemed substandard sound quality compared to the original vinyl.
While it seems like other artists remaster their entire catalog every several years, Capitol/EMI have barely touched the Beatles’ discography since 1987, with the exception of 2004’s The Capitol Albums, Vol. 1 box set, which compiled and remastered the band’s first four American releases in stereo and mono formats. The soundtrack for the Beatles’ Love show also gave listeners a brief tease of how fantastic the band’s songs would sound if properly remastered.
The Beatles in Mono will include the 10 albums originally mixed for mono release, as well as two additional discs the press release says features similar songs to those on the Past Masters compilations. The mono versions of Help! and Rubber Soul will boast bonuses: the albums’ original 1965 stereo mixes, which have not been previously released on CD, per the press release. The mono collection, like the stereo one, will include all original inserts and label designs, and the CDs are designed as tiny vinyl replicas.
The press release didn’t include news regarding a possible deal with iTunes or another digital-music vendor to distribute the catalog digitally: “Discussions regarding the digital distribution of the catalog will continue. There is no further information available at this time,” the press release reads. Both Apple Corps. and Paul McCartney have expressed reluctance to release the Beatles’ music digitally until all the albums had been remastered. The solo work of each of the four Beatles is available on iTunes.

Well then, and laws in your state may vary, but perhaps now would be a good time to get a part time job, or mow lawns or something.. How's that for sounding like a grumpy old man, lol. I'd die of shock if a kid your age came around looking to do yard work, so you may be able to corner the market..

Yeah i could easily do work. Here in sweden, students are allowed to have "summerworks" But OF COURSE i never applied because then i wasn't aware of this, only Rock Band (I think I will be able to afford at least on of them if i save my monthly allowance) Here where i live (Northern swden) we kids are willing to do hard work for cash! Not like those spoiled whiny kids down in the Stockholm area :X I might move some lawns and help people in the family, and i just remembered we are probably going to re-paint on of our houses! My dad will pay me hourly fees if i help him So yeah, i'll probably get Rock Band towards my birthday and buy/wish for the cd's by christmas! Btw, I can do some yard work for ya JoJo But you better expect to pay up

Haha it would a long trip because I live in New Hampshire. (USA) But I appreciate the offer. I've been spending the last few weekends cleaning up from the aftermath of last year's ice storm, and finally I am seeing the finish line. Well anyway good for you being willing to work towards your goal.

Well, I'm still paying off student loans and trying to figure out how this is going to come out of my budget. I've got to get moth the stereo and mono box sets, and somehow get the most ridiculously expensive Rock Band bundle on the same day.
Maybe I'll mow some lawns too.

I'm not going to buy a cd again just for some differences when i all really do is listening, not analyzing the music ;D
