I don't know abut Penny Lane, but Magical Mystery Tour (even the album booklet ) was a total ball of confusion that seemed designed to blow the minds of those looking "deeper" while, on the surface, appearing as this so-so romp across the countryside. So no scar appearing there isn't surprising either. You won't find scars on Penny Lane; you get scars Via the Dollar tour, which leads to an intersection death in the cairn of blown minds. -j

For the record, Mike McCartney said in his book that he was responsible for taking that picture: (of Paul, not Danelli of course)

….I'm no longer even certain of something as fundamental as the existence/identity of an "original" JPM. I'm beginning to wonder if it's even useful for us to talk about an unequivocal, original JPM, as a separate and distinct individual from possible subsequent versions. Was there really a period of time when only ONE of him existed?…. Everything else is calculated distraction, intended to misdirect and discredit. There may and, likely, much often may not be, useful metaphors mirrored by the mumbo jumbo esoterica. But you don't need metaphor when you have the actual story. And you're never gonna get the actual story when you allow yourself to be so entranced by the patterns on the fabric that you fail to register that what you're looking at is a shirt. Don't get me wrong: some of the Pepper games are fun. But it's all just fog machines blowing to obscure the otherwise obvious.

On trick to understanding metaphors is ANOTHER metaphor! One of the best metaphor I have ever seen is "Hotel California"! A good metaphor for the above post is "mirrors on the ceiling pink champagne on ice she said we are just prisoners here of our own device"! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sp6LiHJGrfU
