Yeah when I heard where in NZ this earthquake was located, PB did cross my mind.
Let's hope he's OK.

He didn't say he was "all shook up"?! I'm glad to hear he's all right!

Thanks for thinking of me guys. Yes, I'm fine. I was one of the blessed ones - no power or water cuts. My water cylinder, though... An aftershock caused it to leak. I have to empty the bucket about once every twelve hours. The central city, on the other hand, is something else, along with some suburbs or townships just out from Christchurch. The main Salsa dance studio in ChCh is marked for demolition. They're not allowed to go in there and get the contents out first (too dangerous), and don't have contents insurance so there's a loss of $20,000! But Kaiapoi, just out from Christchurch - loss of several homes. They're not necessarily structurally damaged but the ground has moved and sand had come up making them unliveable. Still have to pay the mortgage and not have the home to live in! Still feeling aftershocks. www.youtube.com/results?search_query=christchurch+earthquake&aq=fSD

devildsadv, I'm puzzled. I don't remember being in contact with you but maybe my memory's a little fuzzy.

Odd. I've checked both inbox and sent emails and I can't find anything. Sir, I sent an email to you on 9/5/10 at 4:43AM my time. It read: "Forgive the intrusion, but the folks at MFH are concerned about you. We heard about the major earthquake and wanted to make sure you are ok." You replied on 9/4/10 5:01PM, I guess NZ time. You wrote: "Hi, Yes, I'm fine thanks." And you put your first name.

OK, devilsadv, thanks. I remember now. I've found the email I sent but it was to a name I didn't recognise. Must be your REAL name, which I hadn't known. It never occurred to me it was from this forum. I remember trying to figure out what MFH stood for and thought it might be some sort of insurance thing - Mutual Funds H???. Silly me. Doc, no I don't have any children. Oh, now I see why you asked.

Yes, pretty much back to normal for me though there are road works all over the place, making some parts of town inaccessable or more difficult to access. Just when it looks like things are settling down we'll suddenly get a big aftershock or two though.
