Tourism chief John Penrose yesterday announced it will be made a Grade II listed site of cultural significance. Sir Paul McCartney, who features on the cover with John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, was delighted at the news. He said: “It’s been a great year for me and a great year for the Beatles – and hearing that the Abbey Road crossing is to be preserved is the icing on the cake.”

Merry Xmas, B "Jehovah's Witnesses rarely use the term "second coming", preferring the term "presence" as a translation of parousia. They believe that Jesus' comparison of "the presence of the Son of man" with "the days of Noah" at Matthew 24:37-39 and Luke 17:26-30 suggests a duration rather than a moment of arrival." wiki

If only Macca knew. Midway through "Maybe I'm Amazed", a man who used to manage the Liverpool Academy, back when it was called the L2, leans over and informs me that the building, tucked away in a side alley behind Lime Street station, was originally a slaughterhouse. The metal rings and meat hooks are still visible in the dressing rooms where, under clingfilm, a vegan aftershow buffet awaits.
