Because of its abundance of seeds, it can also symbolize royalty and the church, where the seeds represent the many believers who make up the one universal church. The pomegranate symbol derives from the ancient myth of Properspina and her annual return to earth in the spring. Christianity adopted this theme, with the pomegranate associated with the Resurrection of Christ and of believers instead of the annual resurrection of crops. The seeds bursting forth from the pomegranate are also likened to Christ bursting forth from the tomb."

Although ancient religions picture a goddess with an infant child, it predates the time of Christ. Most of the "images" are these mother and child are from ancient religions that the Catholics have adapted to be "Christian". This is a distortion of the Biblical descriptions. Regarding the "Royal" wedding of William and Kate....I have to laugh there is a tv ad about a ring you can purchase for 19.95...a certificate of authenticity...of a genuine imitation....What the heck? A certificate to tell you it's not real.....perhaps the couple getting married itself represents things that aren't real....like real love...it's just a real match made in Buckingham Palace....It's so contrived and so in your face everyday, even while channel surfing, and it's really quite pathetic. IT's trying to make the royal family look good and interesting...in a mythological way of being a great royal family ...like a fantasy. People are getting sucked into this media hype hook, line and sinker, and the British people think this is a wonderful thing...it's pathetic.

People are getting sucked into this media hype hook, line and sinker, and the British people think this is a wonderful thing...it's pathetic. I have to semi-agree with Lovelyrita on this one.... as far as I know, the prominence of Mary in Christianity is relatively late, and could have come to counter/replace local pagan Goddesses in Europe. Remember: "Who are my mother and my brothers? … Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does God's will is my brother and sister and mother" (Mark 3:21-34) But then again - what does it prove? Religion was never a matter of facts. Religion is based on distortion.....and the Catholic church is Metalica. But...Paul was born catholic. I read he denounced religion when his mother died, but...Catholicism is still a bit of an issue in the UK, and I'm sure even more so back in the sixties, when there were a lot less Muslims, Hindus, and others. Still, I think that it's not only the Facts about whatever faith is involved that matters. We have to put into account rumors, hearsay and half-truths, because people throughout history have always been motivated by those, no less (if not more) than the actual facts. Take the Masons, for example. For me, the outsider's fears and speculations (especially in the UK) about them have always been just as fascinating as the "facts" I've gathered. here's an extreme example, but it IS from the scriptures (well, mine)

Good morning eye. How about you pretty please move the large images of RAM and the Baby Pomegranate onto separate lines so we don't suffer from wide-screen. Thx, -j
