He changed the lyrics.
"...and no religion, too" became "...and all religion's true".
Did he bastardize a classic? Or did he have an artistic license to adapt the song to the times?
What would John Lennon think?

Fans to Cee-Lo Green: F**k youdailycaller.com/2012/01/03/fans-to-cee-lo-green-fk-you/"Cee-Lo Green may have offended some people with the lyrics of his 2011 hit, F**k You, but it was a more subtle sentence that sent fans into a Twitter rage. The Voice coach rang in 2012 on ABCs New Years Rockin Eve broadcast by singing John Lennon's classic, "Imagine". Green, dressed in a giant fur coat and dripping in jewelry, sang the iconic song verbatim until he came to the verse that originally says: "Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too." Green changed the lyric to, "Nothing to kill or die for / And all religion's true". Apparently, the altered lyric was unimaginable to scores of Lennon fans, who blasted the singer on Twitter, calling the change sacrilegious. Some fans were outraged: @kejames Dear Cee-Lo Green, To quote you accurately, F**k you, signed, me. @elaynebooser If Cee Lo Green is going to sing "nothing 2 kill or die 4, he shouldn't be wearing FUR when he does. Shallow asshat. #tailsofjoy The Gnarls Barkley singer posted two apologetic tweets, which have since been deleted: "Yo I meant no disrespect by changing the lyric guys!" followed by, "I was trying to say a world were u could believe what u wanted that's all.
