I think what iamaphoney did, the film and the albums, is BRILLIANT and CREATIVE work that has been admired all the way to the Corps.
Unfortunately, he thought that might include letting him have it broadcast on TV (the final version of 'Winged Beatle' blatantly programmes in points for 'advertising breaks'!) which just wouldn't be possible even if Paul McCartney and Ringo tacitly approved it, as they, George and Giles Martin, did Dangermouse's 'Grey Album'.
Lawyers act on instructions until they get new instructions and most of Neil Aspinall's remain uncountermanded due mainly to lack of interest in 'all that stuff' from the principals.
Lawyers do not look at Youtube unless they're instructed to. Lawyers do not inspect legalities unless they're instructed to.
NOTHING WHATSOEVER can be deduced from lawyers not acting upon something other than THEY HAVE NOT BEEN INSTRUCTED (YET).
I've no doubt the Revelation depended upon some collaboration with Apple that will never be forthcoming in a legal sense.
The fact that the movie's still up means that IF it was examined, he tread very well by using the better bootleg sources rather than identifiable Apple-released restoration footage.
The fact that one or two parts of 'The Rotten Apple' series were acted upon by lawyers suggests that these videos were being examined to some degree.
It also, in one move, KILLS DEAD any idea that Apple was 'approving'. The lawyers acted upon property-violations they could readily prove.
Bootleg 'versions' have LOTS of sourcing and verification problems in that respect other than the unpalatable patchwork quilt of rights and property that YouTube exploits fully to leverage its general value on the stockmarket. Or: "Who stole what stolen what and is it the same as what was owned by who?"
Supposedly, iamaphoney's ReVelation included elements of Apple property in his proposed next move. Or so 'they' say.
That's if there had
been a next move, which I'm not too sure was the case and that's partly because the idea that iamaphoney was gonna start violating Apple properties when he/they had taken great care (in all but one or two instances) to AVOID stepping onto uncontested Apple territory, seems to be to be A LOAD OF CACK!!!
I think THE RIGHT ALBUM was the final move and there's not, in that sense, anything missing, really.
But they, rather stupidly, at that point, went into 'standard social media promotion' and that was tragic!
Sadly, that now-mythical 'third movement' (aka The ReVelation) is scotched regardless of whether it will be salvaged in some degree because the actual revelation was, after all, that iamaphoney is a band promoting their own product. On fuc*ing Facebook! Aaaaaaargh. The pain! As anybody seriously involved with trying to sell ANYTHING on Facebook will tell you, it's like trying to sell albums to drug addicts ('Like'-addicts) and it has to be done with the lights on. (No place for the legendary!).
If a mistake was made, it was that he/they should have released the albums and left the scene.
Then and only then could some of the 'theories' about it have GROWN rather than being, as they are still currently, very badly PUFFED UP and bolstered by acolytes who just don't have the research chops to withstand those with research chops. Indeed there are people around 'experting' who aren't in the second grade in Beatleology (an actual University subject since the 80's, kids!)
iamaphoney held it well...a real fan...real depth....it was PLAUSIBLE.
Now, in the hands of these others it, frankly, is sucking like an infant needing a milk feed.
A shame but not really upon iamaphoney. Like Lennon said 'it's the followers who ruin it for me'.
What is still great about what was reached...THE RIGHT ALBUM..... is that his/their songs pose an incredible potential legal quandry/anomaly being that they are, in essence,
Northern Songs backwards!)
This would be so hot an issue to explore legally that I'm sure only academic legal researchers would be interested in touching it.
And if they did, Sony might find out about the songs' existence which would NOT be a good thing UNLESS iamaphoney had to all intents and purposes
ceased to exist.
He/they deserve a
legendary status but, really, to secure that, a disappearing act like Lord Lucan is the third act that has been missed!
Or as Prince put it
'ain't nowhere to go if you hang around'
There may still be time to change course on that but it would mean a few closed Facebook accounts and it's all a bit exposed.
Those who know the whole saga are still limited to a few. The whole thing can be kicked up in a dust haze and left for future discovery.
BUT HURRY
