I was planning on getting the "Bugs & Friends" cd soon. It should be a funny listen for sure. I just love bad/silly covers!

hey! that's a good one. i like the red hot chili peppers a lot but i didn't know that one. Hey same here, the Chile Peppers rock! ;D Would you believe they came to my town back before the BSSM days when they became really famous and put on a free outdoor show? I was foolishly unaware of how good they were and missed it. I doubt they did the thing with the... ahem.. socks..

I've never met Anthony Kiedis of the chili peppers but worked with his father John Kiedis or should I say his stage name Blackie Dammit. I worked with him during the time of Mothers Milk right before they blew up. I've heard stories of them in the 80s performing concerts wearing only socks Anthony moved from Michigan to LA to live with his father when he was an early teen. His dad is a B-movie actor with some hilarious film and television credits. His fathers fast LA lifestyle and the peppers punk like attitude probably contributed to his and others in the band herion addiction Jeez those musicians and their Herion the list would look like the who's who of 20th centuary music. Billy Holiday Charlie Parker John Coltrane Jimi Hendrix Jerry Garcia John Lennon Eric Clapton Lou Reed Kurt Cobain etc.etc.etc James P?

Billy Holiday Charlie Parker John Coltrane Jimi Hendrix Jerry Garcia John Lennon Eric Clapton Lou Reed Kurt Cobain etc.etc.etc James P? Well, as I said somewhere else, I had really tried to keep that possibility blocked out of my thinking. But then, so many famous musicians have suffered from addiction, as you say. I am not saying I agree or disagree, I am open to the idea now,------and it might explain some things. Like, dark glasses in the studio............why? I thought it was just to look "cool." And, a person strung out or overtired from drug participation might make a mistake in traffic. Wouldn't Jane Asher have noticed something? Wasn't Paul living in her basement? Would they be OK with him down there getting heroined out? Wouldn't G. Martin have gotten frustrated, and mentioned it at, or tried to get him to a sanitarium? I guess they left John to his devices, though....... Of course, this repositions a PID theory away from the "victim" angle to a much sadder, kind of exasperating one. While agreeing that drug dependents need help--its real hard, especially in this age, to not feel pissed at anyone driving DUI or DWI. Or even drving from a post dose dysphoria. From everything Ive seen, my general IMPRESSION remains---James Paul was simply not predisposed to drug play (outside of pot) and wasted no time or resources on a habit. Just my opinion. Of course, my general impression of Rock Hudson took a blow.

Good observation about the sunglasses period About Jane Asher, I yet to be convinced of the validiity of their relationship. They were both big celebrities Jane was awfully young at that time and I've read nor seen any evidence that didn't sound like a hollywood fairytale. Alot of People Very close to Paul were gay/Bisexual so It wouldn't surprise me if Paul was set up with jane to cover this from the press and keep them chasing this imaginary fairy-tale relationship. The rumors concerning Paul living at the Ashers is conflicting, but a herion addict can function completly unnotticed and keep their addiction very private for a long period of time.

I follow you, southpaw.
Well, there are a number of Hollywood cover romances--Paul just didn't seem gay, whatever that means, he just seemed british--but to some americans all brits seem a little fussier speaking and so forth-----which means nothing----who knows.
as far as the narcotics--who the hell might be the b*st*rd that got him started!!!!!!!Really hope that that isn't true though.

Brian Jones of the rolling stones murdered in his pool in 1970 was a close friend of Paul. He was OPENLY Bisexual And didn't seem like he was effeminate at all. Of course Paul was very close with Brian Ebstien, and even John had rumors about his sexuality. And we all have heard MacJagger stories... Sorry mods for being so off topic here

Well, the topic is "Beatle "covers."Which refers to album covers, but.....
That could be taken in another context................

The way I see it, the operative word here is "Covers", which could mean Album/CD Covers, Cover/Tribute Bands, or even, perhaps, what the Beatles have accomplished under the Covers (sheets). All three examples of which have been alluded to on this thread ;D JUST KIDDING! (Well, maybe not just kidding) But is IS great fun I would dare move a little more off the topic with regards to the comment about Brian Jones not looking efeminate...I saw a photo of him in drag in a Rolling Stones Book several years ago...he was sort of 'pretty', but that's not my bag. The Stones have been down some strange roads throughout their careers, but now I'm most definately getting off the topic so I'll shaddup! Ok, group hug now everybody

Culture is everything. (or lack of) In the South, (not in Atlanta, mind you), in the rural parts, you still find pockets of just plain folks, who might open the conversation with you after an absence with, "So, who ya' diddlin'?" (That means you know what.) And nobody thinks anything of it. And usually you'll hear an answer. If it fell to me, (and in my dread, it always does) I pretend temporary deafness. They don'ts ayask twyst. (They do not ask twice.) I can write this way. I LIVE down here.

The way I see it, the operative word here is "Covers", which could mean Album/CD Covers, Cover/Tribute Bands When I see "Beatles covers" I'm gonna immediatly think yer talkin' about other artists versions of Beatle songs. And I can't think of many in my collection. Let's see... I always liked Steve Harleys cover of Here Comes The Sun. And the cd "Chet Atkins Picks on The Beatles". Great listenin' when yer feelin' like some ol'codger music. The Breeders "Happiness is a Warm Gun" The Residents "Flying" Dread Zeppelin "Golden Slumbers,Carry That Weight, The End" And who could forget William Shatner!!! I can't think of any more. Beatle cover are scarce in my cd collection. I would dare move a little more off the topic with regards to the comment about Brian Jones not looking efeminate...I saw a photo of him in drag in a Rolling Stones Book several years ago...he was sort of 'pretty', but that's not my bag. The Stones have been down some strange roads throughout their careers, but now I'm most definately getting off the topic so I'll shaddup! Ok, group hug now everybody Here's something that can prove to be quite entertaining. My step-dad is a great guy... & he's also a cross-dresser. I've been on a couple of "cross-dresser cruises" with my mom & him. Hhmmm, pretty interesting....... Hangin' out on the ship havin' lots of drinks & checkin' out the ugliest bunch of "women" I've ever seen. Well... except for Micheal Jackson, that is!

Hey Eyesbleed I can see that as a lot healthier than it was before with your dad and the stories you told about him when you were a kid. Hey the worst crime is to be rigid for one, and boring for two! ;D

Hey Eyesbleed I can see that as a lot healthier than it was before with your dad and the stories you told about him when you were a kid. Hey the worst crime is to be rigid for one, and boring for two! ;D Hell ya man! My real dad was definantly the worst thing I've ever encountered. (if I'm ever tempted to bring that up again, I'll bite my tongue... or typing finger, whichever works best) That step-dad of mine is a real party-monster when they go on their frequent cruises. He can drink me under the table any day. My brother & him would stay out almost all night & I'd usually give up around midnight. Hell I need my sleep... whether I'm on a cruise or not. Must be rested up for all that eatin' & drinkin'!

Y'all clearly don't leeuv dayon heah in th' cuntry, Doc, eslt whin you sez ayask, y'all'd be a sayin' ayast, lessin youinz one of thim thar city slickers. Us cuntry rednecks ayast thim quistions. 'Scuse me fer a bit cuz I need ta mayke a run ta Wal-Marks fer sum cuveralls. HAHA. Sorry, Doc, I couldn't resisit a little redneck humor. I, too, live in and around rednecks, or just plain southerners. Ya' gotta love 'em, but sometimes they can be so darn silly. If your mother ever yelled, "Would one of y'all come and move this transmission so I can take a bath?"...you might be a redneck. Back on the topic of covers, has anyone ever heard Deep Purple's version of Help! ?

Ah, you are so right, "t' for "k"---one of the real finer points of our beloved southern slang.
A Deep Purple cover of "Help!"? It would be interesting to hear their groove on it. Bootleg, or is it on a CD by them?
