well if Paul was driving away from abbey road studios, how did he die in Dewsbury, which is 185 miles and 3 hours away? i think it's too far... Yes, but you have to remember that in Magical Mystery Tour, the magicians said the bus was in that location. Then a whole bunch of time and events went by. When the magicians appeared again, the bus was still in the same location. While that was most likely due to bad editing and no story, it is also plausible that on the earthly plane of existence the bus was not moving because it had reached the location where life had ended. Substitute Paul for bus and you have the story of a car crash where consciousness flows on, but the victim's body remains stationary. or the body continues and consciousness (THE BUS) ebbs..... Dewsbury Road is, incidentally, near " belle island" maps.google.com/maps?q=dewsbury+road+leeds+england&ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&resnum=1&ct=title(not actual marker, no milestones were harmed in this post)

I'm glad we're back discussing the suitcase contents because I found something months ago that I can finally post. The song, THERE'S SOMETHING IN THE AIR that's on the MAGIC CHRISTIAN album was recorded in the 1930's and has the following lyrics:
There's something in the air That wants me to beware tonight There's something in the air.
There's music in the breeze. I never saw the stars so bright There's something in the air.
Though I find there's danger in your eyes That's real as you, I've been blind But now I realize what love can do.
I feel it everywhere. So whisper you'll be mine tonight There's something in the air.
Jazz clarinetist Artie Shaw recorded this with his band on the album IN THE BEGINNING in 1936.

OK well.. I want to thank 65IF for taking the time out of his day to send me the Magic Christian soundtrack disk. We agreed that that was all he needed to send, as he has shared the other material here already. Badfinger released an album separate from this one which included songs from the movie and other material of theirs, but it wasn't a "proper" soundtrack album like this one. After I looked at the track list, I realized it was the Badfinger version I have, not the soundtrack so.. if you would like to have a listen Taf and let us know if it matches up.. I suspect it does, and I didn't hear anything out of the ordinary. While revisiting this thread, I realized there was no picture of the disk itself, so here you go. Something you will see right away, on the top of the label for side one, you will see writing has been scratched out, and L.I.L.Y has been etched in. Meaning? Beats me. I recorded the album a side at a time: www.jojoplace.org/Shoebox/Magic_Christian_Soundtrack/Magic%20Christian%20Music%20Soundtrack/Magic_Christian_Soundtrack_Side_1.mp3www.jojoplace.org/Shoebox/Magic_Christian_Soundtrack/Magic%20Christian%20Music%20Soundtrack/Magic_Christian_Soundtrack_Side_2.mp3

JoJo, can you make out what is to the left of "Commonwealth"? Looks like "Paul"? The three lines over the 'co' in "Record" are odd.

Hey Jojo, I am downloading the mp3s now. I can tell you that apart from the annotations, the pictures match my copy exactly. Even the characters in the little bit of the runoff groove that can be seen in your pictures are identical to mine. I am very familiar with the album because it got a lot of airplay in my house. So, I'll let you know if I hear anything different. But I suspect that you have a typical stock copy of the original album. EDIT: BTW, the difference in the title of the first track on Side 2 between the cover and the disc is consistent with my copy as well.

I listened closely and it does appear that the only thing that is unique about 65if2007's copy of the "Magic Christian Soundtrack" are the annotations.
It is still worth having from a collector's standpoint. I have always felt that the Badfinger songs were different mixes from the Apple album. The vocal on "Carry on Til Tomorrow" seems crisper and the lead guitar on "Rock of Ages" seems more out front to my ears.

I'm relieved to have the episode of the record's possession over and done with. Yes, I'd noticed the "L.I.L.Y." in the record label. I think that Iamaphoney had already started to refer to "LILY" in his videos at the time that I'd recovered the record. What does it mean? What did it ever mean?

Come & Get It - has Paul McCartney, Maclen Music underneath it. From the Wikipedia: Come and Get It (song) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search “Come and Get It” Single by Badfinger from the album Magic Christian Music B-side "Rock of All Ages" Released 5 December 1969 Format 45 rpm Recorded 1969 Genre Powerpop Length 2:22 Label Apple Writer(s) Paul McCartney Producer Paul McCartney Badfinger singles chronology "Dear Angie" (The Iveys) (1969) "Come And Get It" (1969) "No Matter What" (1970) "Come And Get It" was the name of a song composed by Paul McCartney for the film The Magic Christian, and made popular by the group Badfinger.
McCartney version McCartney wrote the song in 1969, and may have been inspired by the opening "If you want it, you can get" lyrics of John Lennon's improvisational Dig It, rehearsed during the Beatles' Get Back Sessions in late January 1969. McCartney recorded a solo demo of the song on July 24, 1969, when he arrived early for an Abbey Road session. He sang the double-tracked lead vocal and played all the instruments: he sang and played piano on the first take, sang again and played maracas on the first overdub, drums came third and bass guitar was added last. It took less than an hour to finish.[1]
The song was an obvious candidate for the album, and would have certainly been a hit if released as a Beatles single. But tensions were high during these waning days of the Beatles, with Lennon in particular expressing anger that McCartney had dominated the band's output for the previous two years, especially their singles. Consequently, McCartney did not press for the group to record the song. Although his original demo has appeared through the decades on bootlegs, it wasn't until 1996 that it officially appeared on The Beatles Anthology 3 CD. It is credited as a Beatles song since this was issued under their name.
I've never heard his version of it. I should look it up on YouTube.

Just in case the issue comes up, this is the exact condition in which I found the record -- with all of the etchings and the scratchings and abrasions that you see here. I did nothing to the record.

I don't know about that line, nothing visible or anything you can feel. Oh and btw, I did try the black light trick. (couldn't resist) Nothing on that score. No prob, I believe you. 65IF, you did share everything you found with the exception of the audio.. Kinda silly that there was all this hubbub just because you didn't have a turntable/computer interface.

A few months ago, in a fit of petulance, I talked about throwing everything into a landfill. I didn't want anyone to suppose that I while I was in that same fit of petulance, I might have defaced the LP instead. However, I see that I posted a picture of the LP back on April 1, 2008, just after the return from Santa Susanna Pass and several weeks BEFORE all of the unpleasantness -- and that I noted the same features in the LP at that time. invanddis.proboards29.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=ra&thread=93&page=162

Incidentally, I recently discovered a tiny clue on the front cover -- it's always been there but barely noticeable, and I had to focus very closely to make it visible. It's so prosaic that it says very little for the imagination of whoever thought it up.
