In the Novel of 2001, the Discovery mission is to SATURN, not Jupiter. It was supposedly changed to Jupiter for the film because Kubrick didn't think that he could create convincing enough rings for Saturn. With that in mind...

"I haven't the slightest doubt that we did the right thing and that we acted in accordance with the law. But he kept the book, you know, but you can't retain that book. It must be thrown away, burned or destroyed by... and what ever happened to him, is the invisible god. The world isn't ready for a revelation."

I suspect it was edited from other quotes, but I can't find a real McCartney quote that contains any words or phrases in the same intonation at those above. Does anyone recognize any pieces of the above quote as being from somewhere else?

I can't find any reference to any such Lennon quote either.

The iamaphoney version sounds like a professionally-produced Sir Paul McCartney production. The only version that I know of that has ever been openly performed or produced by SPM is that extemporaneous composition on the guitar that he did with that girl interviewer.

I can't find any reference to any such Lennon quote either. Yes, I have a ton of material that is not on YouTube. It's all in VHS format and I haven't gotten around to transferring to digital yet. But, I can't identify these quotes either. And even if they were made from combining several separate quotes together, I have not yet found a fragment to match any part of the Paul quote or the John quote. Iamaphoney did something similar, although maybe not quite as convincingly a long time ago with the "I am a filmmaker" quote at the end of Rotten Apple 53. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKVsolNITdA

To what does Lennon's quote pertain? I mean, at the least, he's saying that he did use a phony in one instance, so you could say it establishes a precedent for any other instances. The other quote about following the law and the invisible god, is it even clear that we're hearing SPM? It could be someone trying to sound like SPM.

The other quote about following the law and the invisible god, is it even clear that we're hearing SPM? It could be someone trying to sound like SPM. The quote pertains to Alun Owen, who wrote their dialogue for A Hard Day's Night. From Taf's link...
