www.discogs.com/artist/411882-Bill-Shepherdwww.allmusic.com/artist/bill-shepherd-mn0001254379/biographyFairly prolific 'pop' music guy it seems. The only connections to the Beatles appear to be the Pepperpots exploitation record(s) and of course Shepherd's relationship to the Bee Gees and Robert Stigwood who later made the Sgt Pepper moviewell after Shepherd and The Bee Gees parted ways. On another note, the other Billy Shepherd, the music journalist, was the pseudonym of Peter Jones who died this past summer. Seems to me that Apollo C. Vermouth, who initiated this search for the Pepperpots, neither explicitly nor implicitly stated that Billy 'Pepper' became part of the Beatles or even contributed anything to the Beatles. Perhaps the idea of a one-off band that never toured and weren't even pictured on their albums was an inspiration for Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. After all isn't ' Pop' music the stuff that goes ' in and out of style '? ".... the whole of the story involves the "CONCEPT" of a parody of a satire of a band that never existed." "When you come full circle, and it's more akin to a figure of eight, you still end up at the same point you started...... It's all here in black and white" 1. Bill Shepherd creates an imaginary band that parodies the Beatles. Pickwick releases recordings by Billy Pepper and the Pepperpots. At this time Beatlemania is hitting hard and there's money to be made on the confusion. Black and white album covers with fake band members. 2. The Beatles create an imaginary band that parodies the parody. The band is called Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band but the picture on the cover does not contain the band members but the Beatles in disguise.Imaginary band, cover with fake band members.Definitely not in black and white. Because flowers... Beatles parody a Beatle parody alluding to the name of the parody band. The referenced referencing the referencer, see? Full circle / figure eight Perhaps the Sergeant part is a reference to Bills earlier work. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idol_on_ParadeWhich also contains a link to Bridge on the River Kwai which Apollo also "...pulled out of his arse". All you need is Love!

Ok....who wants to go down the rabbit hole? Oh me me me!
Excellent blog btw Quite some time ago on some forum or another I posted about the Pepper cover being a playing card/tarot deck ie:flat people = cards, groupings of writers actors etc in fours blah blah blah... The origins of the tarot seem tied together with ancient astronomical/astrological history and the knowledge of the precession of the equinoxes, one of the great mysteries. Anthropomorphism of this 'story' also seems to me to be the source of many if not most of religious texts that have meandered down the river of time to our present day....Nothing is Real. I hope I'm not too blunt in saying that the Beatles Mystery may in fact be an attempt to ring in the new age ... death and resurrection , the phoenix/bennu bird flaming sacred strawberry heart of osiris the bass drum/gateway/sun disk/portable hole through which the new sun(head) emerges.. It's a rather large subject to condense and understand, given that we are talking about thousands of years and countless lives given to create/expand/adapt and carry on the knowledge.. lol Right I..?

Spark it up Write it down Paint a picture Go to town
Chew the apple Shine a light Build a mystery Keep it tight
Bigger than cheeses Eye-dolls abound If no-one can hear you Spin the disks 'round
When 1 and one and 1 is three Then X marks the spot Where the moon-dog should be
O,Twinkle twinkle Little rats How we wonder Where you're at
When no-one tunes in Meter it out Give'em some time Let the seeds sprout
Make it Jude Get back on the boat Put it back on, Your strawberry coat
The king was dead Yet long live the King He'll get to drive it When pig grows a wing
The dream is over The vampires took toll Kill all the lawyers or Sell'em your plastic soul
What love was made What love did they take What love was left, after Two hands and a shake
This story is over and still it goes on Fueled by the notes that Those bugs they did spawn...
