"John" here seems to have an American accent.

John sang a lot with a mock-american accent, obviously with scouse undertones!

"John" sounds more like an American who had been affecting a scouse accent slipping back into his natural American accent.

It doesn't sound like an American accent to me, I think, that they (except for "Paul") sang with a similar accent and pronounciation all the time. But that's just my opinion - I'm not even a native speaker of English, so I'm not the expert

The video also indicates that "You Really Got a Hold on Me" is the tune that was used as the copy source for "Let It Be" (try humming both melodies, they're quite similar in places).
