From Paul's new album:
Only Mama Knows
Well, I was found in the transit lounge of a dirty airport town What was I doing on the road to ruin Well my mama laid me down My mama laid me down
Around my hand was a plastic band With a picture of my face I was crying, left to die in this godforsaken place This godforsaken place
Chorus:
Only Mama knows what she laid me down in this godforsaken town She was running too What she was running from I always wondered I never knew Only Mama knows Only Mama knows
I'm passing through I'm on my way On the road, no ETA I'm passing through No fixed abode And that is why.... I need to try To hold on I've got to hold on
Was it planned as a one night stand or did she live in disgrace Will I never will I ever see my father's face See my father's face
There has always been a cloud of mystery surrounding the impersonator. Who is he? What is his real name? If this song is true, then he doesn't even even know his true surname. Sad. This song certainly doesn't resemble James Paul's past...

It definitely does not bear any resemblance to Paul's childhood. It would most definitely be more easier for TPTB if Bill was an orphan. Noone would come looking for him. It seems like Bill is beginning to reveal things. Maybe his time is running short ?

Yes, I think his time is running short. Either he fears (and knows) that the world is going to come to an end soon, or he's just at that age where he knows he doesn't have much time left. But I don't think he's 74 like some people...he said he was 30 in Magical Mystery Tour so he's probably closer to 70. He seems to be in great health, but you never know... Oh, and I'm a bit embarrassed....I guess I should know this, but what does TPTB mean?

The Powers That Be, no need to be embarrassed.

Certainly not reflective of JPM's life.
The man with borrowed face is the man with no past. If he was a "love child" and had no information on his real father...and if his name was really Campbell...that would have been his mother's maiden name??? Would not know his roots, no family medical history.... no familial bloodline from his father?
If this is the case, it would be a sad beginning for a peculiar life. Didn't know his daddy, was raised a loner....Maybe a drifter....and chosen to replace one of the world's most famous musicians in a peculiar time in history.....Some peculiar life.

The subject of this song may not even know his mother's name, as she abandoned him in a transit lounge. In a case like this, the authorities would be called, and he would be placed into state custody. From there, an orphanage, foster care or adoption.

I think that could very well be describing Billy's true childhood. It would explain why it was so easy for him to slip into someone elses life.

I'm thinking then Campbell could be the name of those who adopted him...
Or when he was an adult perhaps had a stage name when he was an unknown entertainer.
Just a thought...

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but on the interview track on the bonus disk, he spends most of the time talking about how this song is fiction.. "You know, I made it up.." Yeah we get it..

Holy wow, is he TRYING to make it blatantly obvious that he isn't Paul? Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but on the interview track on the bonus disk, he spends most of the time talking about how this song is fiction.. "You know, I made it up.." Yeah we get it.. There's a bonus disk?! How did I not know this?! That sounds very interesting, I'll have to look into getting it. I know that, if I'm stretching the truth about something, I tend to over-enforce it also, perhaps Faul is guilty of doing so as well. Hm!

He did seem to be repeating himself a lot, but then again, I think he was kind of a bore throughout the commentary. I was a bit disappointed because usually Bill is an excellent speaker, and funny, too. But in the commentary he just sounded old and tired. He livened up a bit towards the end.

I believe that Bill IS old & tired. I think that if he had his druthers, he would've retired YEARS ago. I believe that he is contracted to perform as Paul McCartney until he is unable to do so anylonger. Maybe TPTB won't allow him to retire ?

This song certainly doesn't resemble James Paul's past... Interesting lyrics. They go along with some thoughts I've had lately - that perhaps ALL Beatle boys were orphaned. Yes, I know we've been given official bios for each that would suggest otherwise. But it seems that there's been an awful lot of misdirection concerning these men that makes me question the familial narratives we've been provided.
