If you have a chance, do you think you could you look into the Catherine Shepherd (British) who was was Sir Billy's philanthropy liaison for a decade or so and, later, married Brandi Carlile (who looks like a clone of one of the young Pauls)? HELLZ YEAH! I’m all over it! It might take me a bit since I don’t know anything about them yet... but I/We will! Muahaha! Carlile is a singer/musician from Washington state. She has a lot of direct involvement with a variety of 'causes'. Great pipes. Shepherd is a mystery. She worked closely with at least one Paul for ten plus years and shares the surname of the phantom, William Shepherd, who many people believe replaced an original Paul (I do not subscribe to the belief that there were originals or 'real' versions of any of the Beatles, but that they were always manufactured public characters played by a variety of guys simultaneously). I can't find anything about her family or how she came to work for "Paul". To me, she also looks a lot like the "Paul" who was photographed (with a shepherd's crook/cane, fucked up face, lumpy nose and makeup) with (a) Jane Asher on the High Park farm in Scotland, shortly after "Paul" bought it in '67. This "Paul": I thought I was being so clever using an Audible trial to get The Memoirs... so much for that. 👎 It was definitely not one of my proudest moments, shelling out for that book. I did so grudgingly, but in the name of transparency and truth! I just finished “decoding“ it (if you can even call it that) and I’m working on typing up what it says. It’s an absolute waste of time! Most of the time, it essentially just repeats whatever is going on in the chapter. Ugh. I’ve already decoded the backwards Memoirs... “Mike Williams is Tom Uharriet. Pay him, pay him.” HAHA! ha!

Don't feel bad Mother for spending 35 bucks on Memoirs. Before my dumb ass knew better I bought Billy's Back first and then turned around and wasted more money on Memoirs before I realized I had been conned.

Alright, here’s what I’ve found so far: I’ve started with Catherine’s dad and worked down / His generation is in green and Catherine’s generation is in blue John “Jack” Shepherd (b: 29 Oct 1940 / MMN: Tanswell) / IMDb Actor Has a twin brother, GeorgeFather was a cabinet maker / Mother an infant school teacher Attended Roundhay School, Leeds Studied fine art at Kings College, Newcastle. (BA in Fine Art) Studied acting at the Central School, then at the Drama Centre London. Married Judith Harland in Jul 1964 - Ian Shepherd (b: Mar 1966) - Jake Shepherd (b: Jan 1969) Married Ann C Scott in Jul 1975 / IMDb - Catherine Margret S Shepherd (b: Oct 1975, Hammersmith, London / Married Brandi Carlile in 2012) IMDb says she is also an actress/writer/director / IMDb- Victoria Ruth S Shepherd (Catherine’s twin) / IMDb (I’m not 100% sure this is her IMDb, but she has two credits, one of which is an episode of her dad’s show, ‘High Stakes’.) - Benjamin Jack S Shepherd (b: Jan 1977) “English actor Jack Shepherd, star of television series 'Bill Brand', at his home in south London with his wife, television producer Ann Scott-Shepherd, and their 9-month-old twin daughters, 1976. (Photo by Chris Ware/Keystone Features/Hulton Archive/Getty Images)” Photo SourceModern records and records for living people are harder to find, so I didn’t find tons. - I couldn’t find Jack’s parents. I thought that maybe they were from Scotland (their records are a little harder to find sometimes), but I didn’t find them in the Scotland registries either. I’m wondering if maybe his mother’s maiden name was misspelled on his birth registration (surprisingly, that happens relatively often! Even on Paul’s, MMN is listed as Mahon - I looked into that...nothing I could find that was suspicious, etc. Maybe that’s worth a revisit...). It was spelled the same way on George’s birth registration, so I’m not sure what the chances are of it happening twice, but they are twins, so you never know. - “George” is so common that I didn’t find any info I am confident about. Finding him would be helpful because who knows where he branches off! - No further info on Catherine’s mom, either. These really common English names drive me nuts! - I couldn’t find Brandi and Catherine’s wedding registration in WA or England, but that didn’t surprise me. It’s also a lot harder to find records in the US because every state has different laws/records access. Honestly, I don’t know if/think there is a familial connection of interest. I really don’t believe in coincidences, but Shepherd is a really common name and nothing surprising about these folks jumped out at me. I have spent hundreds of hours doing McCartney/Shepherd/Campbell genealogy and I haven’t yet found a significant Shepherd connection. BUT, I am also a firm believer that, when there’s smoke, there’s fire! 🔥 I know that there is a Shepherd in there somewhere, I just don’t think these are the particular Shepherds.

Thanks for giving it a check. It would be interesting to find out about "George"…but even I had an uncle George. It just seems strange for Shepherd to have been entirely fabricated or actually only refer to the later acquired goats. And I still think Carlile, with that little beaky nose looks dead on one of the early Pauls. Edit to add: I'm surprised to hear birth certificates often have such errors. You find this on those of people with non-suspicious identities? Mother Mary is another who appears to be two people when you compare early photos.

This "Paul": I forgot to respond about this photo! These photos from High Park Farm have been of interest to me lately... these two look MISERABLE! I think that this is a Paul we didn’t see very often, more of a “behind the scenes” kind of guy. I think that he is the one that *actually* dated Jane (I hadn’t really considered that she had a double/doubles) and these awkward photos were an attempt to capture “what once was”. (SO ineffective, y’all...) I think that these are the same Pauls: He just looks so different than the other Pauls! Here is a compilation of some of the other photos from the High Park Farm photoshoot. (From Elena The Beatles Photos on YouTube. Her channel is GREAT, if you haven’t seen it!) And then there’s this goofball, who I believe *actually* lived at 7 Cavendish Avenue. He’s not so great with continuity... nice right handed watch there, buddy.🙄 It’s so silly that they made a show of him wearing the same clothes. Idk where Elena gets all of the great photos, so I’m not sure how to verify 100% that this was the same day. Does anyone know what team/player that shirt is from? I feel like that may be relevant.

I wanted to exhaust all the searches. I get a little obsessed with finding all I can... but that‘s how you find things supposedly hidden away! Sometimes, 12 pages deep into Google, there is a hidden gem, just waiting to be found! Haha! (I need to get a life.😂) I think the twin things is interesting, too. I couldn’t find anything about Victoria, other than her (possible) IMDb, so I’m not sure what else she does. Yes! I sort of do genealogy research constantly, so I’ve seen quite a few errors, but I look at hundreds of records a week, so, by volume, it’s really not *that* many. Very interesting that the very subject of our interest has one of those errors... Hm... I use a lot of other resources (local government websites, cross referenced with state & county records/misc. genealogy resources, etc.) and that’s where I weed out the errors. I really believe the key to this whole thing will be found in public records! I think the mother Mary(s) we see are absolutely different people... but I also think the photos we see of “young Paul” are of different people, too. My theory is that the moms we see are just the moms of the respective Paul.

To me, she also looks a lot like the "Paul" who was photographed (with a shepherd's crook/cane, fucked up face, lumpy nose and makeup) with (a) Jane Asher on the High Park farm in Scotland, shortly after "Paul" bought it in '67. This "Paul": I've been curious for a while now about the Paul seen with Jane in Portugal in '65, possibly the same as Farm Paul. The right side of his face is completely wrecked (with a glass eye) and in many of the publicity photos of their trip a different Paul's face has been inserted in his place. I'm on the fence as far as believing any Jane was actually romantically involved with any Paul, but it seems well within the realm of possibility. "Paul" & "Jane" in Portugal '65: A different Paul returned with her to London: And then there’s this goofball, who I believe *actually* lived at 7 Cavendish Avenue. He’s not so great with continuity... nice right handed watch there, buddy.🙄 Spot on, MNS. This Cavendish Paul had a badly burned right hand, as shown in the 'Hello, Goodbye' promo film (etc) and he wears fake ears. Does anyone know what team/player that shirt is from? I feel like that may be relevant. Perhaps, the number 22 is the important part.

I can’t believe I forgot about this! The gentleman below, Professor Colin Campbell, with Allan Murphy (I don’t know anything about this person), authored the book “ Things We Said Today: The complete concordance of the Beatles' song lyrics“, published in 1980. (I want to take a moment to acknowledge how absolutely amazing it is that in the 70s, this guy used a university dinosaur computer to catalog, organize and inventory the entire Beatles song book! WHAT?! 😱) I ordered this book from Amazon (which cost me $30 and took a freakin’ month to arrive) and wasn’t sure it was worth it at first... I was hoping it would hold some secret that would expose Professor Campbell as the lynchpin to bring the whole thing tumbling down, but I was incorrect. 😐 I didn’t want to shell out (another) $30 for (another) Beatles book, but I’m glad I did! It actually did turn out to be helpful in unexpected ways. It lists the lyrics to all of The Beatles songs (with the exception of the songs they covered), then breaks the words of the songs down alphabetically, then by how many times the word was used, cumulatively, in all of the songs. I hope that makes sense, the way I’m explaining it. If not, here is more info. Hunter Davies also references this book and Professor Campbell multiple times in “ The Beatles Lyrics: The Stories Behind the Music, Including the Handwritten Drafts of More Than 100 Classic Beatles Songs”. In summary, this gentleman, who I believe looks A LOT like Sir Paul is named Campbell and wrote a book about The Beatles. Hm... thoughts, y’all? I looked into him a long time ago, but didn’t turn up much, so maybe some of you cool cats can find something I couldn’t! 🔥 “ Colin Campbell, Emeritus professorView AttachmentBiography BSc, PhD (London) Colin was born in Sutton Coldfield in 1940. He obtained his first degree, a BSc. (Econ.), from London University in 1961 and started teaching at the City of Birmingham College of Commerce in the same year. Three years later, in 1964, he moved to York as an Assistant Lecturer in the new combined department of Politics and Sociology. He then obtained his Ph.D., as an external student of the University of London, in 1968. Colin has been at York ever since, acting as Head of Department from 1990 to 1995, while he has been Emeritus Professor since October 2006. During his period at York Colin has had several spells as a visiting academic at universities at home and abroad. Thus from 1974 to 1976 he was a Visiting Associate Professor at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver; in 1994 he was a Research Fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford; in 1998 he was Visiting Research Fellow at the Institute for Cultural Pluralism in Rio de Janeiro, while in 1999 he was Visiting Research Fellow at the Humanities Research Centre at the Australian National University in Canberra. Colin is married, with two children and five grandchildren, and lives in Fulford.” I hope this isn’t a repeat... I couldn’t find a thread about him when I searched, so hopefully this is new and useful information! I think I know who this man is. My question is what would you do with this information? He has no Adam's apple. Always covering neck with the scarf. digilander.libero.it/p_truth/the_truth/pearl_cornioley_up_against_it.jpg

Yet another reason why any self-proclaimed PID expert should be able reference, at least, the official record of songwriting. I don’t necessarily believe the official record about who wrote what when, but no one serious can claim to know with certainty that songs weren’t written by such and such date nor that they weren’t brought into the studio for specific sessions. It boggles belief that the same person wrote ‘Penny Lane’ and ‘Bip Bop’… I agree with you that he strongly favors one of the most visible Pauls from the Wings-era and on. We’ve run into the issue of strong resemblances between Beatles and those in their circle or peripherally associated and it has to be remembered that the UK really isn’t that big and was even smaller and more homogenous at the time these guys were born and, as such, a lot of these people are going to share not so distant ancestors/genes without necessarily being known or close family. Campbell is, clearly, a red flag, but as you mentioned previously there are a lot of people in that part of the world with the same names. Thanks for pointing him out.

Hi Michelle! I suppose there wouldn’t be a whole lot to do with it... hopefully fit another puzzle piece into place, to figure out who one or more of the replacements are. Perfect photos! Haha!

I don’t think we’ll ever have the full truth on who wrote what and when. That web, I believe, is too complex to untangle and many involved have, surely, long since passed on. I’m sure bits and pieces of info are scattered about, but the owners of that knowledge would need to come forward because, where would we even start our search? Not impossible, but that is one scary-steep hill to climb at this juncture! Haha! I tend to lean toward the fact that many of “the involved” are/were related in some way - probably, primarily because the world was so small. I don’t believe, necessarily, in “all are descended from nobility and are related to the Kennedys”, etc. (though SO MANY people are related to the Kennedys!!), but, I’m sure that there are many not-so-distant relations. After I posted, I was thinking more about what must have gone into writing that book. Surely, Campbell and Murphy must have consulted with someone in The Beatles circle, once or twice, to ensure accuracy and to clarify some of the more “interesting“ lyrics. One of my thoughts when I first read about the book was... How did a guy named Campbell get the honorable gig of transcribing “The World’s Greatest Band’s” lyrics, have an in to get confirmation of said lyrics, and later be quoted by “the only authorized Beatles biographer”? Pure speculation here, of course, but isn’t that what board discussions are for? Speculation, discussion, education and new launch pads for research? 😀 You never know what someone may know!
