Can't remember if I posted this before, but Derren Brown did one show where he turns the subliminal "tables" on a couple of advertising types: es.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyQjr1YL0zgThis one is even better, someone's memory of what they wanted is replaced. es.youtube.com/watch?v=befugtgikMgIt seems likely these and other tricks don't always work, surely it depends on the subject's suggestibility. I suspect the more someone thinks they are too smart to be fooled, the more likely they will be.. Edit: misspelled his name.

I was lucky enough to catch the whole episode when it played on TV. What this guy does is amazing. I caught several of his "subliminal" clues, however. You just have to listen very closely, as he says words that sound like other words. Like taxidermy = "taxi journey".
Did you see the one he did in the shopping mall? He got over 100 people to raise their right arms at the snap of a finger.

From a recent episode: Derren stops to ask directions to a local landmark, and creates a bit of diversion. Then instead of talking to him, the person is talking to someone else.. first, a man that vaguely resembles him, second, a man who looks nothing like him, and third..a woman, haha. Do these people notice the difference? Have a look: www.veoh.com/videos/v983726YKXrHaTn

I love this one, because it shows how people don't pay attention to what's going on once an expectation has been planted. Also, a person doesn't change places with someone else in the middle of a brief conversation in the street, right? Only one of the five really noticed something was wrong, but you could see him convincing itself well...this just can't be. Wouldn't be surprised if Brown borrowed this from an old Candid Camera episode, or at least the concept, but still a great bit.

www.veoh.com/videos/v9976487wBfmGaDThe setup: A teacher is asked to read a children's story in front of a classroom with young children and told to think of something; of course Derren will know what it is she's thinking.. Stay tuned for the explanation of how the trick was done, diabolical!

Oh my GOD. This stuff is crazy. I want to be a part of his experiments!! I also forgot to mention I cannot believe that the kids picked up on that. Wow.
