Lethe (LEE-thee). A river in Hades whose waters caused forgetfulness. It was on the banks of another Underworld river called the Styx that the shades, or ghostly remains, of the dead congregated to seek passage to the Afterlife. Unless they bribed Charon to ferry them across the stream, they wandered aimlessly on the near bank forever. But those who made it across the Styx did not have much more to anticipate. Once they had drunk from the waters of Lethe, they were left with nothing to reminisce about for eternity.

The Master's Square, when inverted and extended, becomes the Past Master's Jewel.
Quadrant.
The Compasses, extended to Thirty Degrees, is placed on the Quadrant.
The space between the Compasses and the Quadrant forms the Triangle of the perfect man (looking to the Heavens for Spiritual Illumination)
The Blazing Sun is placed in the Triangle (symbolizing the six point star symbolizing the perfect man; symbolizing the ever present Deity thereby forming) the Past Master’s Jewel.
In astrological definition, Thirty Degrees is the symbol of Rebirth. The Master has attained the Physical (Material) and the Spiritual which has prepared him for his Re-birth. This is reminiscent of the Three moveable jewels, namely the Trestle board which is being worked on by the Master and eventually symbolizes the Past Master who history recognizes as the Perfect man. He, the Past Master, is inferred to possess the combined Physical and spiritual which connects Masonry to the Universal Law.
Further, the lesson infers that a properly prepared Master is one who has served in both physical areas South and west.Jarv has pointed out that the cors anglaise on sgt pepper is 12 degrees (can we call it 15?) a half-rebirth? anyone have a close up of the little box George is wearing on the Sgt Pepper gatefold? just a thought......

That is a freaky, freaky picture. Obviously, I believe that it's JPM, but has anyone claimed that it was intended to be someone else? I don't know much about the photo--sorry if this is too off track.

I don't know much about the photo--sorry if this is too off track. You mean this picture? That's a still from Magical Mystery Tour. Interestingly, those three squares attached to the right triangle are something I saw once at the Boston Museum of Science, it is a demonstration of the Pythagorean theorem. The way it's demonstrated is they fill the squares with sand, and show that the big square is equal in area to the combined area of the two smaller squares; you spin the gizmo to let sand flow among the squares.

Ah yes, my school days come flooding back Jo.
a2 + b2 = c2
(squared, anyone know how to make the little 2 above the letter!?)
Reminds me of "One and one and one is three"

Ahhh, no, I meant the one in the post above it that I guess is a Klaatu album cover. I must have scrolled past the one underneath it without knowing! That said, what you have to say about the other photo is really quite interesting! I've never heard of that before. Is there any correlation between Pythagoras or his followers and PID? I am not too knowledgeable on the subject other than I thought what Plastic Paul thought when I saw the triangles!

jeese louise, I can't follow that..........the formula most imaged in this series is y2+X2=Z2 y squared + x squared = z squared. I think it's all about the square, dancing in the square to produce the Z square. concerning the sacred homage to the tri-angle, of course. The word hypotenuse derives from the Greek ὑποτείνουσα (hypoteinousa), a combination of hypo- ("under") and teinein ("to stretch"). who's sig's (5) on that ball? math lessons, scroll down a few pages to get to the good stuff www.alabacus.com/Downloads/Geom%20Lessons%20150-165.pdfBonus. Did you notice the length of the cube is φ, the golden ratio? A franco-american team of cosmologists [1] led by J.-P. Luminet, of the Laboratoire Univers et Théories (LUTH) at the Paris Observatory, has proposed an explanation for a surprising detail observed in the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) recently mapped by the NASA satellite WMAP. According to the team, who published their study in the 9 October 2003 issue of Nature, an intriguing discrepancy in the temperature fluctuations in the afterglow of the big bang can be explained by a very specific global shape of space (a "topology"). The universe could be wrapped around, a little bit like a "soccer ball", the volume of which would represent only 80% of the observable universe! (figure 1) According to the leading cosmologist George Ellis, from Cape Town University (South Africa), who comments on this work in the "News & Views" section of the same issue: "If confirmed, it is a major discovery about the nature of the universe".luth2.obspm.fr/Compress/oct03_lum.en.htmlmore www.space.com/scienceastronomy/universe_soccer_031008.htmlDavid Beckham Commercial
