Brill's character was an undercover Klingon spy, actually.
The important thing to remember is that NASA carried the cremains of both JPM and Roddenberry into orbit.

Charlie Brill is our Fohn Fennon.
Strange days indeed!
Maybe Charlie became John and someone replaced Charlie....
The web gets more tangled as we look more closely.

A media information site notes that Mitzi McCall is the "godmother" of former Little House on the Prarie child star Melissa Gilbert, who was in real life an adopted child. Melissa Gilbert narrowly won a re-vote battle with Valerie Harper to become the head of the Screen Actors Guild, a powerful political position in the media.
What did Melissa Gilbert, married to "Bo Brinkman," the goddaughter of Mitzi McCall and Lennon-Double Charlie Brill name her newborn son?
"Dakota Paul"
Dakota Paul is the name of the grand-godson of Fohn Fennon !
Dakota Paul Brinkman was born on May Day, May 1, 1989, he is also known as "Cody" ( code-y) Brinkman.
I think this may have a lot more to do with "The Dakota" apartment building than the prarie Dakota-ish little house.
More information:
Off screen, Los Angeles native actress Gilbert, whose salary in "Little House on the Prairie" was 75,000 per week, was elected 2001's Screen Actors Guild President. She again became the Guild's 23rd President after being elected to the Guild's Presidency in the year 2002. As for her romantic life, 5' 3½ inch tall Gilbert romanced heartthrob Tom Cruise in her teens [uh-oh] before having a long-running relationship with actor Rob Lowe in the 80's. After headlining the media with her turbulent love with Lowe, Gilbert married actor/producer Bo Brinkman in 1988, but they divorced after a few years of marriage. She is now the wife of actor Bruce Boxleitner, whom she married in 1995, and the mother of two sons, Dakota Paul Brinkman (father Bo Brinkman) and Michael Garrett Boxleitner (father Bruce Boxleitner).
BUT WAIT
It gets more interesting, Mother Dakota Paul, the dodgily-elected SAG President who mocks the murders of outward leftists Lennon and JPM in her own son's name and who is the goddaughter of Lennon's CIA imposter/double Charlie Brill, is known as one of the prominent "Hollywood conservatives," by which we can infer a Republican militarist corporatist female type, (although she is publicly listed as giving thousands of dollars to both Democrats and Republican candidates), strange for supposedly liberal Hollywood and the very non-conservative actors' community to have one of these types installed as their SAG chief (shortly before "9-11" in 2001). Evidence: this excerpt is from a list on the right wing "freerepublic" site of major Hollywood conservatives:
Mel Gibson (Act)
Melissa Gilbert (Act)
Clarence Gilyard (Act)
Rev. Billy Graham (Religious)
Kelsey Grammar (Act)
Fred Grandy (Act/Fmr. IA Congressman)
Merle Haggard (Music)
George Hamilton (Act)
Paul Harvey (Radio)
Patricia Heaton (Act)
Charlton Heston (Act)
Catherine Hicks (Act)
Hal Holbrook (Act)
Bob Hope (Act)
Dennis Hopper (Act)
Susan Howard (Act)
Dale Jarrett (Sports)
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (Wrestler/Act)
Jimmy Johnson (Sports)
--------------
Another contradiction: in all of his web statements and interviews neither Charlie Brill nor Mitzi McCall mention the fact that Brill was an exact John Lennon look-alike. You would think this would be one of the first things they'd mention, particularly when talking about the Ed Sullivan Show or their time as regulars on the 1968-69 Laugh-In show, IF THEY DIDN'T HAVE SOMETHING TO HIDE.

If Charlie Brill is indeed John's stand-in, he may have been used for the opening of "How I Won The War" - John had to be elsewhere (corpse finding).

Smoking Gun Alert: I just watched the complete Beatles Ed Sullivan Show including the Brill and McCall act. Brill looks different: he looks much less like himself in the 1967 Star Trek episode. He also looks much less like John Lennon. He had plastic surgery, a lot, it seems, on his mouth, eyes and nose. To look like John Lennon; look exactly like John Lennon. Between Februrary 1964 and December 1967. Look at that Ed Sullivan Show if you can (it's on DVD) and see. Then look at the "Trouble with Tribbles" on DVD.

If this is true, what happened to Johnny ? Was he such a basket case over what happened to Paul & Brian, that someone had to step into his shoes for a time ? I do have those photos taken in 1967, showing John looking either shell shocked or devastated. I will post them as soon as I can. We need more visual evidence to support this.

I think it's pretty much established that all The Beatles had already used "doubles" when needed.... to escape screamy crowds etc. Y'all may be on to somethin' here, I don't know, but if so, the key word here would be TEMPORARY.

If you're really looking for this Brill character, I think you'd start with stills from the MMT film.

He does look like Peter Sellers. But that's before the extensive plastic surgery.
On the other forum, I've seen some pics of "John's Official Double" and they have some of the MMT pics, that may be the Brill dude.

I was continuin' this thought with the pic I posted, not lookin' for a sub..... but yer right... MMT would be a good place to look I suppose. This doesn't grab my attention all that much coz the idea of stand-ins was/is pretty common in the entertainment industry.

He does look like Peter Sellers. But that's before the extensive plastic surgery. On the other forum, I've seen some pics of "John's Official Double" and they have some of the MMT pics, that may be the Brill dude. That's interesting: when you watch the 1964 Beatles debut Ed Sullivan show, Brill does not wear those Sellersian glasses for his act, and he does not look nearly as much like Peter Sellers without them. When that pre-Lennon-transformation publicity photo was taken with Mitzi, he was already into the double-confusion game, maybe hoping people would mistake him for Peter Sellers or hire him and Mitzi when they wanted the closest thing to superstar comic genius Peter Sellers (who also looked quite a bit like John Lennon, by the way). At the same time, they were ripping off the comedy stars husband and wife act Mike Nichols and Elaine May! Peter Sellers Okay, I'll say it preemptorily: anyone think the talented chameleon Peter Sellers might have doubled for Lennon? Sellers sings the Beatles [ftp]http://petersellers.org/sounds.html?NF=1[/ftp] She Loves You (Irish lads) (1.1 MB) She Loves You (haughty Brit and chum) (2.2 MB) She Loves You (Dr. Strangelove) (2.2 MB) Help (delivered as a sermon) (3.4 MB) Hard Day's Night (Shakespeare) (1.2 MB) Comedy Sketches A Right Bird (1.7 MB) The All-England George Formby Finals (5.8 MB) Peter Sellers in "I Love You Alice B.
