This thread will be for posting the lyrics of songs by artists other than the Beatles who may have written songs relating to PID/PWR. Certainly there had to be other artists who knew about what happened to Paul at the time that it happened. They may have tried to put the word out in their own way. In fact, it is altogether likely that they would have tried to leak the news to the public by means of music at a time when TV was limited to about 4 channels in most areas, and there was no internet. If you feel that there's a song that you know of that relates to PID/PWR, feel free to post the lyrics, and explain why you think they're relevant. Here's an example, posted here by Miss Vagabond in a thread she called "TRAFFIC: Feelin' (Not So) Alright?" : invanddis.proboards29.com/index.cgi?board=Clues&action=display&thread=1123546439--------------- "This is a song from classic rock band Traffic (Steve Winwood, Dave Mason & Jim Capaldi). I was listening to it actually, and it really stood out. The lyrics actually seem to speak to Paul's being replaced. Esp' the last couple of lines in the last stanza. It was written by Dave Mason. I've read that he had a cousin (Chris Wood) who helped co-write it, but I'm not sure about that.
I just wanted to post this, I don't know if it's been brought up before or not. It's really feels like it was written in response to what happened with Bill replacing Paul, and the shock of learning about it. The last line could be a bitter (Sarcasm?) reference to Bill. The whole song reads like maybe a poetic way of retelling both sides. First half might be a hint into Paul's side of the story. Then, after the intermission (So to speak) Bill's. Almost like a call and response. Except the author is interpreting both of their situations.
The other thought I've had, is that Bill had a hand in this somehow. Just thought I'd put it out here to get some feedback on your thoughts. Feelin' Alright (Traffic)
Seems I've got to have a change of scene 'Cause every night I have the strangest dreams Imprisoned by the way it could have been Left here on my own or so it seems I've got to leave before I start to scream But someone's locked the door and took the key
You feelin' alright? I'm not feelin' too good myself Well, you feelin' alright? I'm not feelin' too good myself
Well, say, you sure took me for one big ride And even now I sit and wonder why That when I think of you I start to cry I just can't waste my time, I must keep dry Gotta stop believin' in all you lies 'Cause there's too much to do before I die
Don't get too lost in all I say Though at the time I really felt that way But that was then, now it's today I can't get off so I'm here to stay Till someone comes along and takes my place With a different name and, yes, a different face"(end of Missvagabond's post)hear it:www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SLX55e6djs------------- Certainly the last few lines could fit the PID/PWR mystery well. "I can't get off" may mean "I can't get off" charges for a crime I committed. "So I'm here to stay" could mean "so I'm here in jail for a while". Faul's song "Monkberry Moon Delight" on the RAM album, seems to describe someone being held hostage (or in confinement), being horrified to see that his would-be rescuers were hiding in a barrel smoking "monkberry moon delight". (Remember, the public hearing the word "I" in the song presumes they're hearing from the real Paul.) "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" also seems to describe negotiations between the French and British governments for the release of a prisoner, while the British secretly have sent a swat team to free whoever it is. "Til someone comes along and takes my place With a different name and, yes, a different face" could be an obvious reference to Faul replacing Paul in the Beatles, or it could just mean: 'til someone else takes my place in this jail cell. The point, in any case, is that Bill may have had to replace Paul because he (Paul) was imprisoned somewhere for a crime he may or may not have committed.

The title of this song, "Looking For Clues" would instantly resonate with anyone who spent time looking for clues on the Beatles albums when the PID 'rumor' hit the airwaves in 1969. Perhaps there are a few in this song, eh? LOOKING FOR CLUES (Robert Palmer) It’s crazy but I’m frightened by the sound of the telephone, oh yeah I’m worried that the caller might have awful news, oh my’ Who knows these days where on earth the money goes, oh yeah No doubt we could put it to a better use, oh my You keep insisting that nobody showed you how to keep relationships, oh yeah Your daddy made a real good try, oh my You said you knew all along We could work it out, oh yeah Do you have to make a fuss everytime we fly Oh I’m looking for clues I have to make an effort now I just to be serious, oh yeah Nobody’s gonna give you the benefit of the doubt, oh my Everytime I pick a paper up it’s harder to believe the news, oh yeah I’m gonna have to shake it up and twist and shout, oh my You can’t do nothing that you don’t put your mind to, oh yeah I suspected all along you were a dream come true, oh my I’m never in the dark ’cause my heart keeps me well informed, oh yeah I’m convinced that there’s a way of getting through to you Ooh I’m looking for clues It’s crazy but I’m frightened by the sound of relationships, oh yeah I swear we could put it to a better use, oh my Do hurry baby you’ve forgotten how to catch a night groove, oh yeah You told all the callers you were not amused oh I’m looking for clues You keep insisting that nobody showed you how to use a telephone, oh yeah Nobody’s gonna give you a second chance, oh my I don’t have to make an effort now to find out where the money goes, oh yeah Do you have to make a fuss everytime we dance Ooh I’m looking for clues Do ya do ya do ya do ya Ooh I’m looking for clues Ooh I’m looking for clues Ooh I’m looking for clues hear it:www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5Ua2Jk2K8g

A closer connection here, since while the song is on a 10cc album, Wiki states: Mirror Mirror is the 11th and last album by British pop band 10cc. It was released in 1995 and did not chart in the UK or US.
It features Paul McCartney on two tracks, Andrew Gold on two tracks and Rick Fenn on one track.
"Yvonne's the One" (Paul McCartney, Eric Stewart) — 4:27 "Code of Silence" (Stewart) — 5:40
Paul McCartney — rhythm guitar ("Yvonne's the One"), strings, electric piano, frogs, crickets, percussion ("Code of Silence")Needless to say, a title like "Code of Silence" is intriguing.
Deep in the night
I can hear you calling my name
How can I try to help you woman
If you go on hiding your pain
Baby, Baby, the tears on your pillow are real
You can't go on pretending to me
when I see the pain that you feel
A code of silence, is a dreadful thing
It can make you feel harder
It can keep you hanging on a string
Here in the darkness
When I hear you calling my name
A code of silence is a deadly game
It's a deadly game (what's that you say)
It's a deadly game (speak to me now)
It's a deadly game (deadly game)
Lost in your dreams
Trouble on your face in the pale moonlight
Nowhere to run you've got to let me know
Where you are standing tonight
Baby Baby Baby
I know that you're hurting inside
Open your heart
I know that we can make it
If you talk to me now
A code of silence, is a deadly thing
It can make you feel harder
It can keep you hanging on a string
Here in the darkness
When I hear you calling my name
A code of silence is a deadly game
It's a deadly game (what's that you say)
It's a deadly game (speak to me now)
It's a deadly game (deadly game)....

Another McCartney guest appearance, from 1969. (on drums)
Perhaps something about this song resonated with him, who knows.
Steve played on a few songs on Flaming Pie, many years later.
(Steve Miller) My dark hour My dark hour, you know it's drivin' me wild
Well, well, I went to see the doctor And I had my fortune read And you know the doctor told me Son you better stay in bed
Who's that comin' down that road Looks like he's carryin' a heavy load {??} and he started to say Want to come with me on my way
My dark hour, mother nature's child My dark hour, oh, it's drivin' me wild
Well, I went to see the doctor Just to have my fortune read Well, well, well, well, well, the doctor told me Son you better stay in bed
So do you think these sinners will fall Or do you think they'll survive us all Well, well, well, well down this road Won't you help me carry my load
My dark hour, mother nature's child My dark hour, oh, it's drivin' me wild

Interesting lyrics in "Yvonne's the One", JoJo. Substitute "Sylvie" for "Yvonne" and see if the shoe fits:
"She'll never know how much I loved her I never got to tell We never had the chance to say farewell
When I last saw Yvonne She was covered in roses (like on a fresh grave) But the laughter had gone from her eyes (she was dead) She walked so tall, looked so grand (about Fylvie) Everything about her truly planned But what you get is not what you see So long Yvonne you're not fooling me"

That's impressive 4H. Substituting Sylvie for Yvonne seems to work.
The Robert Palmer song is obviously about PID imo. Not sure about the ELP song, although if it were it was sung from John's perspective.
Sorry I don't have any lyrics to post but I felt the need to comment.

Damaged Goods by Rusty Anderson. (member of Bill's current band) Damaged Goods
She makes me feel like all of the walls up have crumbled Somehow I just must have stumbled On something I don't deserve Lately it seems like all of my dreams are unfolding But I still feel like I'm holding A card that says "do not pass go" Sometimes I feel like I'm living someone else's life Cause this one ain't mine I used to have one that I left behind
Last thing I knew my ship ran aground and was sinking Destined to drown in my thinking How long can she keep it at bay Sometimes I feel like I'm living someone else's life Cause this one ain't mine I used to have one that I left behind Damaged goods on borrowed time There's something wrong here cause this one ain't mine
Sometimes I feel like I'm living someone else's life Cause this one ain't mine I used to have one that I left behind Damaged goods on borrowed time There's something wrong here cause this one ain't mineDamaged Goods

This thread is really going nicely. I always thought that The Who knew the real deal.
Won't Get Fooled Again Lyrics by The Who
We'll be fighting in the streets With our children at our feet And the morals that they worship will be gone And the men who spurred us on Sit in judgement of all wrong They decide and the shotgun sings the song
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution Take a bow for the new revolution Smile and grin at the change all around Pick up my guitar and play Just like yesterday Then I'll get on my knees and pray We don't get fooled again
The change, it had to come We knew it all along We were liberated from the fold, that's all And the world looks just the same And history ain't changed 'Cause the banners, they are flown in the next war
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution Take a bow for the new revolution Smile and grin at the change all around Pick up my guitar and play Just like yesterday Then I'll get on my knees and pray We don't get fooled again No, no!
I'll move myself and my family aside If we happen to be left half alive I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky Though I know that the hypnotized never lie Do ya?
There's nothing in the streets Looks any different to me And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye And the parting on the left Are now parting on the right And the beards have all grown longer overnight
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution Take a bow for the new revolution Smile and grin at the change all around Pick up my guitar and play Just like yesterday Then I'll get on my knees and pray We don't get fooled again Don't get fooled again No, no!
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Meet the new boss Same as the old boss

"And the parting on the left Are now parting on the right And the beards have all grown longer overnight " Paul's hair was parted on the left; Bill's on the right, and yes, they all grew beards. hear it:www.youtube.com/watch?v=zydAs5bRW1U---------------- This one's for you lili:www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxXAtFQ4uBA&mode=related&search=Elton John - Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding The roses in the window box Have tilted to one side Everything about this house Was born to grow and die Oh it doesn't seem a year ago To this very day You said I'm sorry honey If I don't change the pace I can't face another day And love lies bleeding in my hand Oh it kills me to think of you with another man I was playing rock and roll and you were just a fan But my guitar couldn't hold you So I split the bandLove lies bleeding in my hands I wonder if those changes Have left a scar on you Like all the burning hoops of fire That you and I passed through You're a bluebird on a telegraph line I hope you're happy now Well if the wind of change comes down your way girl You'll make it back somehow There's been some speculation that "Love Lies Bleeding" is about Sylvie (from Paul's perspective) because of the "Bluebird" reference*, while "the wild and windy night" heard in "Funeral For a Friend" could be her funeral, being remembered a year later. Interesting concept: someone lies bleeding in another's hands. Was the one in whose hands the bleeding victim lies the perpetrator? Or did somebody else shoot the victim while she was with the singer? My guess is the latter, judging from the tone of the "Ram On reprise" on Bill's RAM album, which sounds, for all the world, like a love-making session being interrupted by the arrival of an unexpected visitor.
* Sylvie was known as "the bluebird" in France.

I have written before about Funeral for a Friend. I think that the prelude in that song could be in reference to Paul's funeral. As far as Sylvie is concerned, I didn't know that she was referred to as the bluebird in France. .gif"] I don't think that Paul was there when Sylvie was killed. That's for a different thread on another day.

Well, noone has mentioned Ruby Tuesday so far so I thought I'd bring it up eventhough it has been discussed before on NIR. It seems like the Stones are singing to more than one person.
She would never say where she came from(Bill?) Yesterday don't matter if it's gone While the sun is bright Or in the darkest night No one knows She comes and goes(Jane?)
Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday Who could hang a name on you? When you change with every new day Still I'm gonna miss you...(about Paul)
Don't question why she needs to be so free She'll tell you it's the only way to be She just can't be chained To a life where nothing's gained And nothing's lost At such a cost(all about Jane)
Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday Who could hang a name on you? When you change with every new day Still I'm gonna miss you...
There's no time to lose, I heard her say Catch your dreams before they slip away Dying all the time Lose your dreams And you will lose your mind. Ain't life unkind?(I can't decide if he is singing about John or about Jane again, anyone have an idea?)
Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday Who could hang a name on you? When you change with every new day Still I'm gonna miss you...

They also recorded "Lady Jane" Other ones that seem very odd for mid 1960's Paint It Black and Out of Time
I'll have to examine those mid 60's Stones' songs...but not tonight...I think my head will explode with all the information I have found in the last couple of days...

They also recorded "Lady Jane" Other ones that seem very odd for mid 1960's Paint It Black..... PAINT IT BLACK (Jagger/Richards) I see a red door and I want it painted black No colors anymore I want them to turn black I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes I have to turn my head until my darkness goes I see a line of cars and they're all painted black With flowers and my love, both never to come back (a funeral procession)I see people turn their heads and quickly look away Like a new born baby it just happens every day. (?)I look inside myself and see my heart is black I see my red door; I must have it painted black Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts Its not easy facing up when your whole world is black (facing up to his role in what has happened)No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue (he won't go sailing/travelling)I could not foresee this thing happening to you If I look hard enough into the setting sun My love will laugh with me before the morning comes I see a red door and I want it painted black No colors anymore I want them to turn black I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes I have to turn my head until my darkness goes Hmm, hmm, hmm,... I wanna see it painted, painted black Black as night, black as coal I wanna see the sun blotted out from the sky I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, painted black Yeah! hear it; see video:www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDrtNeZD7moI've felt for a long time that "Paint It Back" is a musical interpretation of Paul's feelings after the death of Sylvie Vartan. I believe that he felt he was responsible, at least in part, for her demise. Specifically, I suspect that Johnny H may have caught them in bed together. I think that may be the significance of the "Ram On Reprise" on the RAM album. Certainly the cover of the "Up Against It" book could signify Johnny Hallyday and Sylvie being split up by Paul, who, it seems, was jailed for (it would seem) his interference in their relationship.* I believe that because Paul and Sylvie may have had relationship before she married Johnny, that they continued seeing each other on the sly**, and that Paul pleaded with her to run away from her marraige to JH and live with him. That is the meaning of "Yet Another Movie" on the Pink Floyd album "A Momentary Lapse of Reason", imo. In any case, I think Paul became withdrawn, and abandoned the Beatles when he heard of Sylvie Vartan's death. In fact, I believe he became totally withdrawn, and obsessed with her death,*** even to the point of wanting to live the life she would have lived had she lived. I have no doubt that the meaning of "Paint It Black" is Paul's "dropping out" of the world, due to his grief and guilt; a guilt he tried to atone for by 'dying' himself, and living as a version of Sylvie. (Hence the image of Paul in a dress in MMT comics, and the lines: "Dying all the time Lose your dreams And you will lose your mind. Ain't life unkind?" in "Good-Bye Ruby Tuesday" This picture:
seemingly represents John trying to 'hold on' to Paul as he was going "over the edge" mentally. But Paul did 'lose his mind' if the musical clue of a descent into madness at the end of the song "Anyway" on "Chaos and Creation In the Backyard" is any indication. And if the music of "Wild Honey Pie" on the White Album is any indication. I think a number of songs addressed to Paul, while he was alive, tried to encourage him to get back into reality, among them the Eagles' "Desperado" and Neil Young's "Only Love Can Break Your Heart". Unfortunately, to no avail, apparently. ("Jenny Wren" describes the fade out.) *"Mr. Moonlight" at TKIN suggested that the song "Rocky Racoon" might be about Paul deciding to go after Johnny H for 'stealing' his woman. ("I'm gonna get that boy!") **"Do you wanna be the lover of another undercover" line in "Still You Turn Me On" by EL&P (shown above) a reference to Paul's relationship with Sylvie here, imo. ***In the WABC Roby Younge PID broadcast of 1969, two girl listeners reported seeing Paul, dressed as he was on the cover of "Abbey Road" (barefoot too!) hanging around a mortuary. Afterthoughts: I think "Ruby Tuesday" is Paul when he was trying to live life as Sylvie. I think the line, "Hello Ruby in the dust" in Neil Young's "Cowgirl In the Sand" is a reference to Paul (Ruby). Ruby is "in the dust" and the "cow girl in the sand" because he's now dead, in the sands off the coast of Spain.* Specifically, off the Rock of Gibralter. Where a "dove tail joint" formed by Gibralter and the land opposite it tries to fix a "hole in the ocean". And presumably it's the sand under the water near Gibralter, gathering from the "watery" end of "Glass Onion"; the "watery" "Octopus's Garden"; the "watery" references in "Strawberryfields Forever". "Good-Bye Ruby Tuesday" may well be "Good-Bye Paul". *Neil made a strange reference to this, saying that the song was about "the beaches of Spain". www.thrasherswheat.org/fot.htm#cits"This is a song I wrote about the beaches in Spain. I've never been to the beaches in Spain. It's just my idea of what it's like over there."

Dark Horse wrote:

Agreed, but a double entendre imo. Not only was Paul, as Ruby, changing personnas every day, but all the Beatle Paul(s) were changing 'every day'.
Also "Ruby Tuesday" is the key to understanding this:
"Sitting on a cornflake Waiting for the van to come Corporation T-shirt, stupid bloody Tuesday Man you've been a naughty boy you let your face grow long "
Tuesday's (Paul's) face 'grew long' when Bill took over.
John is waiting for the police van to come, and angrily denouncing Paul's stupidity. "Man you've been a naughty boy" is more like "Man oh man, dumb ass, that's quite a stunt you've pulled!" (Again, apparently Paul trying to kill Johnny for 'stealing' Sylvie, imo. NOT the scene of Paul's death. "Happiness" Is a Warm Gun - a sarcastic reference to the fact that if Paul had tried to shoot Johnny, and succeeded, that would presumably have made him happy.) For what it's worth, I think "Sitting on a corn flake" is John sitting on a public bench with an advertisement for corn flakes on it, and "corporation T-shirt" is a reference to the T-shirts they received at the MelodyMaker awards ceremony, placing the time of Paul's arrest and imprisonment and "disappearence".

Since I mentioned this song, here are the lyrics. Many Neil Young songs are PID clues, imo. COWGIRL IN THE SAND (Neil Young) Hello cowgirl in the sand Is this place at your command Can I stay here for a while Can I see your sweet sweet smile Old enough now to change your name When so many love you is it the same? (sHe's famous)It's the woman in you that makes you want to play this game. Hello ruby in the dust Has your band begun to rust (the Beatles 'going down hill' with Faul)After all the sin we've had I was hopin' that we'd turn back Old enough now to change your name When so many love you is it the same It's the woman in you that makes you want to play this game. Hello woman of my dreams This is not the way it seemsPurple words on a grey background (the lettering on an inscribed tombstone, looking purple)To be a woman and to be turned down* Old enough now to change your name When so many love you is it the same It's the woman in you that makes you want to play this game. hear the song:www.youtube.com/watch?v=50E1sLHBx0I*Did he try to have a relationship as "Ruby"? ------- I think that Paul was "buried at sea" off the Rock of Gibralter, (Spain) as I have mentioned, (which is why John and Yoko were married there, imo) but that his body was retrieved and later buried on a hill. (More on that later. ) For that reason, I think Elton John's song "Daniel" is his farewell to Paul. DANIEL (Taupin/John) Daniel is travelling tonight on a plane I can see the red tail lights heading for Spain Oh and I can see Daniel waving goodbye God it looks like Daniel, must be the clouds in my eyes They say Spain is pretty though I've never been Well Daniel says it's the best place that he's ever seen Oh and he should know, he's been there enough Lord I miss Daniel, oh I miss him so much Daniel my brother you are older than me Do you still feel the pain of the scars that won't heal Your eyes have died but you see more than I Daniel you're a star in the face of the skyDaniel is travelling tonight on a plane I can see the red tail lights heading for Spain Oh and I can see Daniel waving goodbye God it looks like Daniel, must be the clouds in my eyes Oh God it looks like Daniel, must be the clouds in my eyes hear it:www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ayolhaLMUIDaniel is addressed as if he were still alive, but I believe Elton is refering to his spirit being alive. The "I miss you so much" suggests he's been 'gone' for a while.

I believe Elton John/Bernie Taupin's song "Philadelphia Freedom" is about Paul, after leaving the Beatles, having freedom to "live alone". PHILADELPHIA FREEDOM (Bernie Taupin/Elton John) I used to be a Rolling Stone * You know; if the cause was right I'd leave to find the answer on the road I used to be a heart beating for someone But the times have changed The less I say the more my work gets done `Cause I live and breathe this Philadelphia freedom From the day that I was born I've waved the flag Philadelphia freedom took me knee-high to a man** Yeah gave me peace of mind my daddy never had Oh Philadelphia freedom shine on me, I love you Shine a light through the eyes of the ones left behind Shine a light shine a light Shine a light won't you shine a light Philadelphia freedom I love you, yes I do If you choose to you can live your life alone Some people choose the city Some others choose the good old family home I liked living easy without family ties 'Til the whippoorwill of freedom zapped me Right between the eyes*** (end) * I've capitalized "Rolling Stone" here; I believe Paul played on some of their albums. An intentional pun, imo. ** apparently a hint about Paul having been made "a midget" after a great fall, alluded to in Bob Dylan's "Dwarf Music"publishing (corrected), and the "Humpty Dumpty" references on the cover of Sgt. Pepper and "egg man" reference in "I Am the Walrus" ***an apparent allusion to Paul having been zapped "right between the eyes" by a lightning bolt, possibly a laser weapon. The "whipporwill of freedom" a military fighter jet. (Hear Pink Floyd's "Dogs of War", "JET!" by Faul.) "Philadelphia Freedom" (the United States) caused Paul "a great fall" by shooting him out of the sky with a military jet, my take on it. They may not have had laser weapons in the late 1960's, but they could have used lasers for pinpointing a target. See it/Hear it:www.youtube.com/watch?v=vze9GVS-shs

An intentional pun, imo. ** apparently a hint about Paul having been made "a midget" after a great fall, alluded to in Bob Dylan's "Midget Music"publishing, and the "Humpty Dumpty" references on the cover of Sgt. Pepper and "egg man" reference in "I Am the Walrus" ***an apparent allusion to Paul having been zapped "right between the eyes" by a lightning bolt, possibly a laser weapon. an apparent allusion to Paul having been zapped "right between the eyes" by a lightning bolt, possibly a laser weapon."Deep in the jungle where the mighty tiger lie Bill and his elephants were taken by surprise So Captain Marvel zapped him right between the eyes" ---The Continuing Story of (Peyton Place) Bungalow Bill" Also, Dylans' label was named Dwarf music. The one-eyed midget is in a line in Dylan's 1966 "Ballad of a Thin Man." Reminds me of the dwarf on the Sgt. Pepper cover.

Beatlies wrote: "Deep in the jungle where the mighty tiger lie Bill and his elephants were taken by surprise So Captain Marvel zapped him right between the eyes" Well, wasn't Bill on a jungle safari, prior to being "Paul"? I seem to recall seeing pictures.... Captain Marvel "killing off" Bill (who he used to be; Mr. Shepperd) so that he could be "Paul", perhaps. A "bolt out of the blue" so to speak? an afterthought about my previous postIt occurs to me that "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite" could be a tongue in cheek reference to the idea of Paul,(Mr. Kite) "flying" through the air after being shot down, while Mr. H. (Harrison) demonstrates "ten sommersets he'll undertake on solid ground" being Mr. Harrison frantically going through musical and vocal gymnastics to keep the illusion of Paul still being in the band alive. I know about the circus poster, of course, www.beatlesagain.com/bkite.html but I think there's more to the song than just the poster: For the benefit of Mr. Kite there will be a show tonight on trampoline The Hendersons will all be there late of Pablo Fanques'fair, what a scene Over men and horses hoops and garters and lastly through a hogshead of real fire In this way Mr. K will challenge the world The celebrated Mr. K performs his feats on Saturday at Bishopsgate * The Hendersons will dance and sing as Mr. Kite flies through the ring, don't be late Messers K. and H. assure the public their production will be second to none And of course Henry the Horse dances the waltz The band begins at ten to six when Mr. K performs his tricks without a sound And Mr. H will demonstrate ten somersets he'll undertake on solid ground Having been some days in preparation a splendid time is guaranteed for all And tonight Mr. Kite is topping the bill * en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bishopsgate"The Wall (which no longer exists in this sector) divided the the ward into an intramural portion called Bishopsgate Within and an extramural portion called Bishopsgate Without.""Within You and Without You"! And THE WALL to boot!

See it/Hear it:www.youtube.com/watch?v=vze9GVS-shsThat is a sweet interpretation, 4K. Now, what I have heard thru the years is that Philadelphia Freedom was written in honor of Bilie Jean King: www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=2475The name of the 1974 tennis team on which she starred was the "Philadelphia Freedoms." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_Freedom_(tennis)

In your first link, Doc, these words: "Elton often put interesting B-sides on his singles, which made them more valuable. On this, the B-side was a live duet of The Beatles hit "I Saw Her Standing There" that Elton recorded with his friend John Lennon." ----interesting en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_Freedom_%28song%29""Philadelphia Freedom" is a song released by Elton John (as "Elton John Band") as a single in 1975. The song was one of John's numerous number-one U.S. hit singles during the early and mid-1970s, which saw his recordings dominating the charts. The song was written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin as a favor to Elton's friend, tennis star Billie Jean King. King was part of the Philadelphia Freedoms tennis team." --------- He may have dedicated it to her, but I don't see much in the lyrics that would apply. Wasn't Billy Jean Michael Jackson's friend?

Hey 4KH, remember that Mojo magazine Revolver special from July? I was browsing through it tonight, and there was a mention of "five great Beatle homages". One was ELO's "Mr Blue Sky", and it says: Jeff Lynne's stunning, near obsessive extrapolation of the "Paul bit" from A Day in the Life"The lyrics: Sun is shinin' in the sky There ain't a cloud in sight It's stopped rainin' ev'rybody's in a play And don't you know It's a beautiful new day hey,hey
Runnin' down the avenue See how the sun shines brightly in the city On the streets where once was pity Mister blue sky is living here today hey, hey
Mister blue sky please tell us why You had to hide away for so long Where did we go wrong?
Hey you with the pretty face Welcome to the human race A celebration, mister blue sky's up there waitin' And today is the day we've waited for
Hey there mister blue We're so pleased to be with you Look around see what you do Ev'rybody smiles at you
Mister blue sky, mister blue sky Mister blue sky
Mister blue, you did it right But soon comes mister night creepin' over Now his hand is on your shoulder Never mind I'll remember you this I'll remember you this way
Mister blue sky please tell us why You had to hide away for so long Where did we go wrong?
Hey there mister blue We're so pleased to be with you Look around see what you do Ev'rybody smiles at you Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba baDownload the song here.

That's interesting. I sent my copy of Mojo to Lili because I knew she'd appreciate it. I was unaware of the Jeff Lynne tribute, but I wasn't too surprised to learn he'd done one, since many of the ELO album covers seem to tie in to PID/PWR. In fact, I wonder if, in some way, the song you've posted is in response to the Clear Light song "Mr. Blue" which you have to hear to appreciate, if that's the right word for it. www.mydfz.com/Paxton/lyrics/mrblue.htm?ABCDEFGHThere's no doubt in my mind that "Mr. Blue" was Paul in that song, being addressed by the powers-that-were: MR. BLUE (Tom Paxton) Good morning Mister Blue, we've got our eyes on you. The evidence is clear, that you've been scheming. You like to steal away and while away the day. You like to spend an hour dreaming. What will it take, to whip you into line? A broken heart? A broken head? It can be arranged. It can be arranged. Step softly Mister Blue, we know what's best for you. We know where your precious dreams will take you. You've got a slot to fill, and fill that slot you will. You'll learn to love it, or we'll break you. Oh, what will it take, to whip you into line? A broken heart? A broken head? It can be arranged. It can be arranged. Be careful Mister Blue this phase you're going through, Can lead you nowhere else, but to disaster. Excuse us while we grin, you've worn our patience thin. It's time to show you who's your master. What will it take, to whip you into line? A broken heart? A broken head? It can be arranged. It can be arranged. Don't worry Mister Blue, we'll take good care of you. Just think of it as sense and not surrender. But never think again, that you can think again, Or you'll get something you'll remember. What will it take to whip you into line? A broken heart? A broken head? It can be arranged. It can be arranged. (end) So much for 'moped accident's. More about Clear Light here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clear_LightBtw JoJo, Thank you for bringing that song to my attention, and posting a link. I'd never heard it before.
