Just a couple of quick things

Hi Everybody.. I just registered on the board, I have just a couple of things I wanted to share with you guys, not sure if this is the right forum..

My friends and I are all music buffs, I'm not really huge on the beatles and I don't know an awful lot about them, but my best friend is a huge Beatles fan and I first got into this paul is dead business when I read a book about it on his bookshelf. My friend doesn't think Paul was replaced but I was fascinated with it. I am however a huge fan of The Smiths, Morrissey and Johnny Marr.. Well I had an opportunity to meet Johnny Marr at a major record store here in Toronto Ontario(HMV). I was very nervous in meeting him and wasn't sure what to say, but when we had concluded our talk in which I got a picture with him he introduced me to Zak, Ringo's son who plays drums in Johnny's new band the Healers. Well after talking to him about 5 mins I remembered the whole deal with Paul is dead so I asked him about it, can't remember exactly what I said, but he said "definitely something there isn't there? then proceeded to change the subject quite quickly"...

Also my brother's friend owns a bar in Brantford Ontario where I was living last year and Pete Best was performing there one night. He actually sat down next to me and my brother and had a drink with us, I also asked him about the whole Paul is dead theories and what he thought, and his entire demenour changed and he looked like he was stressed out about something and he said "Such a sad story, I wish I had time to properly discuss my feelings about it but either nobody cares anymore or nobody asks." I was pretty buzzed when I was talking to him and I asked him straight up if Paul was dead in his opinion and he just shook his head and kept drinking staring at his beer and left within a few mins into the back.

This is about all I have to add, that's the very little information I have. I got pulled back into this thing again with the rotten apple videos I saw recently and thought I'd share this with you guys incase anybody was interested.

That's fascinating, sonikdave. The account of Pete Best seems to match his teary behavior in the
"son king 28I F" video in the Rotten Apple series.
As for Zak, he may truly believe there's "nothing there" if he was told that by the person he takes
for his father. I haven't seen any convincing pictures of Ringo after 1966, so I don't know
if Zak's "father" these days is the real Ringo or not, but of course, if he's not, he'd be
likely to tell him there was "nothing to it".

Welcome Sonikdave, two great stories, esp. the one involving Pete Best.

I tend to disagree with him that nobody cares tho. Sounds real enough, many people run into celebs by accident, most would not have the guts to just ask such a question straight out.. If you did, then congrats.

I am impressed. Great job, Sonik. Paul & Petey were great friends. I'm sure that it broke his heart seeing his friend's identity taken over like that. If he was close enough to see what ramifications came to people opening up about it, that would explain him clamming up like that.
I'm surprised that he said what he did.

Hi, when you say he just shook his head-do you mean in the
affirmative, or back and forth as if 'too bad'? I'm assuming you mean the latter but thought I'd ask.

Wow, welcome to the board and thank you so much for sharing this with us! Yeah, the topic really sucks you in, doesn't it? It's 6:30 in the morning here--I'm trying to fit NIR into my day but it's difficult! ;D Aaaaanyway, I always would love to pose such questions, but never get the opportunity. I don't think I'd be able to, though, even if I encountered someone relevant to our mystery... I'm sure that I'd walk up to them and wuss out on it. Great job just asking as well as getting such reactions! This is the kind of stuff I love to hear about.

Hey everyone again.. I just moved so haven't been on really since the day I posted the message... I didn't think anybody would care too much I know it's not a lot of info as compared to what most of you guys have dug up.. I probably would have asked a lot more questions if I knew as much as I do now.. But yeah, as far as Pete, he just kinda shook his head back and forth like in disbelief... I felt kinda bad about asking afterwards because he was going on in like 15 mins and was in such a chatty mood before that, and I think if he had the time he would have talked more, but what I got from him is that nobody has really asked him for his side of the story. I'm not sure if he knows there are so many people fascinated with the issue, I get the feeling nobody had asked him that question in a long time.. I think he does know about it but doesn't want to be the guy that "ruins" the Beatles legacy and call out the "Faul".

Maybe he also likes the shape of his head and doesn't desire to have it off shot off. I wouldn't know Pete Best if he bit me. I think a lot of people don't recognize celebs when they see one, I did see a celeb at Walmart trying to return something once. But I didn't know her name I just knew she was in that group that sang that song...Yep and I dare not interupt her transaction to ask her questions. There were times when working with celebs where I did talk to them/ask questions and it was quite embarrasing there is nothing worse than offending or being misunderstood by a celebrity, when your the low man on the totum pole.
