LR posted: This is for you: OMG !!! I can enjoy, appreciate, even forgive everything in the Paul McCartney catalogue (and this goes for Michael Jackson as well) EXCEPT for "Say, Say, Say." I don't know why I can't. I have tried, it just makes me scream. I used to jump up when it came on MTV and run and turn the dial (in 1984 before I bothered to get a remote controlled TV) screaming OMG NO! Not this! Again! Anything but this! "She-Bop, She-Bop", "Su-Su-Su-da-you", "Ch-ch-ch-changes", "My Ge-ge-ge-ge-neration", "Cry-i-i-i-i-ing Over You", "She-Bang, She-Bang", and "Knock Three Times" are similar thorns. OK but I did just watch the video to "Say Say Say" on you tube just now, and I like the video story and enjoyed it overall more than when I was younger. The hook still drives me just to the cringe point (so sorry to say) but the song is otherwise well produced and written for pop, the recording is technically great, and MJ and Macca are singing in good duet harmony. I think it boils down to the triple repeat of the word "Say". Something about that just sets my teeth on edge. Say Say Say Say Say Say Say ok I am grinding my teeth now.

Doc, I don't want to go back to our long discussion about a date to watch for... but, in Italian, the word "sei" (six) sound exactly as the English "say". This means that, in Italian, they are saying "666". Too TKIN??

Talk about thorns? This is off topic in a smoking gun setting, does that mean that I must be subjected to be locked into a room, wearing a straight jacket and being forced to watch Say, Say, Say?
It is rather obnoxious and hokey, but it can't be any worse than listening to David Hasselhoff attempt to sing....

Of course, they didn't sing, "Six hundred, plus sixty, plus", etc. I mean, a semantic difference. Still you are clever to realize this. Well, you know Italian, and that helps, but how many Italians noticed that at the time? 1983 was a different world, mon ami.

That means Sir Paul could appear on Sesame Street and count in several languages, including using Indian Smoke Signals...

It has been speculated that the Faulinator could be of Italian descent. That his mom was Italian. He spoke Italian during an interview & John threw a fit about it. Also, his use of the word "mama" in his songs. Paul never used that word in his songs. Paul called his mom, "mum". Just like all good little British boys do.
