[yt]-" IN THE RECENT HEAVY FIGHTING NEAR BLACKPOOL, MRS G. EVANS OF SOLIHULL WAS GRADUALLY INJURED. SHE WANTS FOR ALL THE PEOPLE IN HOSPITAL "PLENTY OF JAM JARS" BY THE RAVELLERS. AND HERE IT IS."PLENTY OF JAM JARS, BABY, PLENTY OF JAM JARS FOR YOU. (for you, baby) PLENTY OF JAM JARS, BABY, PLENTY OF JAM JARS FOR YOU. PLENTY OF JAM JARS, BABY, (baby, baby) PLENTY OF JAM JARS FOR YOU. [/yt] I actually owned this album when I was a kid. It was a bootleg & had a white cover. Being a child, I drew a portrait of Yoko on the cover. When I was in my mid twenties, I had the good fortune of meeting and hanging out with Mark Hamill of Star Wars fame. After I found out that he was a Beatles memorabilia collector, I gave him my Christmas Album as a birthday gift. He was thrilled, but now I regret giving it away. I could never have anticipated that I would develope an interest like this so many years later. Anyway, I listened to that album many, many times. What should be understood is that in alot of the songs ( if not all of them ) those men sounded totally f*cked up. Now that I'm an adult, I would have to say that they were at least totally drunk off of their asses. It is known that John would draw material for his later songs from newspapers & such. For the Benefit of Mr. Kite & A Day in the Life both come to mind. IN THE RECENT HEAVY FIGHTING NEAR BLACKPOOL, MRS G. EVANS OF SOLIHULL WAS GRADUALLY INJURED. SHE WANTS FOR ALL THE PEOPLE IN HOSPITAL "PLENTY OF JAM JARS" BY THE RAVELLERSI'm fairly certain that the above lyrics were taken from a newspaper article that John saw at the time. He made fun of it in his own lennonisque fashion - gradually instead of gravely - for example. I think that the boys all agreed to do that bit for a lark. Of course the fact that they all sounded totally messed up while they were doing it, made it more fun to listen to ( especially for a kid ). I've been trying to research whether such an article was in the newspaper during mid to late 1967. So far, no such luck. I can't imagine why there would be heavy fighting in blackpool. I would truly appreciate it if one of you members from that side of the pond could try to help me to figure this out .

For a second here, I thought you were headed in a completely different direction. You know, something like this: ...and hanging out with Mark Hamill of Star Wars fame. Turns out that Mark Hamill had plastic surgery for a car accident between Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back, and I noticed that in Empire he was taller and suddenly wielding the light saber with his LEFT hand... ;D

The Beatles made a sly reference to Marmalade in a jam of (coincidentally) Ob-La-Di during the LIB/Get Back sessions. www.jojoplace.org/Shoebox/Ob-La-Di_LIB_Sessions.mp3If you want some jam...The final line of the performance is a direct reference to Marmalade's recording which added a reference to jam to the song as a pun on their name. Source: "Get Back - The Unauthorized Chronicle of The Beatles Let It Be Disaster". Interesting, but this theory probably needs more things pointing in the right direction. Credit to the Junior's Farm reference. If you want some JAM?Indeed. Here's a "live" Marmalade performance of Ob La Di from 1969, and gosh darn it if they don't end the song with IF YOU WANT SOME JAM. In addition, it's worth watching for some good shots of Junior with a beard, on the piano. youtube.com/watch?v=bWi6gaFr0L8&feature=related

Damn, that Junior reminds me of Bill/Faul. I have to wonder if they aren't related in some way. I noticed in the Obladi Oblada video that Junior was wearing a wedding band. Again, that first website that I got info from has a McCartney url. I would love to know why ... Iameye, that photo is hysterical ! That made me chuckle. ;D ...and hanging out with Mark Hamill of Star Wars fame. Turns out that Mark Hamill had plastic surgery for a car accident between Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back, and I noticed that in Empire he was taller and suddenly wielding the light saber with his LEFT hand... I was in my early twenties when I met him. If I would've been into this stuff back then, I woud've SCRUTINIZED that man. He seemed to be the genuine article. His voice was the same. We were really into the Star Wars trilogy back then. I went to see each installment countless times. In fact, Return ( Revenge ) of the Jedi was playing at a Loews theatre up the block from the Broadhurst theatre. That's where Mark was performing Amadeus. He had the lead role, and was rather good in it. He sure had that idiotic laugh down pat. I quickly made friends with other Hamill fans & it turned into a real adventure. I spent every weekend at that theatre & became friends with the doorman & the various players. David Birney played Antonio Salieri. He was excellent in that role. I felt terrible that he didn't get the role in the movie. As far as I'm concerned, F. Murray Abraham's oscar should have gone to David Birney. Mark was rather standoffish, while David was warm & personable. I soon lost interest in Mark & started hanging out with David. He was a true gentleman & was very kind to me. He would send me across the street to get him a cup of tea. I've posted photos from that time on this forum. I think it's under the thread concerning the Beatle's Christmas Album ( 1967 ). ;D

I have to wonder if Sir Paul had a hand in the formation of Marmalade & it's mild success.

Ok, I stayed away from this topic for a little bit in order to get a fresh perspective. Upon reexamination however, I still think that there's something to this Junior Campbell thing. Oddly enough, the vocal on the televised "performance" of Ob-La-Di-Ob-La-Da is different from the vocal on the album version. Even though the televised version is NOT a live performance. Televised: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Kev9hhI7V8Album: www.imeem.com/15gemini/music/yB7lXjQz/the_marmalade_ob_la_di_ob_la_da/This is strange on a few levels. 1. If they're just miming to a prerecorded version on the television show, why not just mime to the album version? 2. The album version sounds (to my ears) a lot more like JPM. 3. I suppose that #2 answers #1. It would probably be pushing the psychological envelope to SHOW a band covering a Beatles song, with a vocal that SOUNDS like the Beatles, but clearly is not the Beatles, even though the guy on piano vaguely looks like one of the Beatels. After all, it's one thing for people to hear the JPM sounding vocal on the radio, or coming from their home stereos, because in these scenarios it lacks the all important visual cues that humans rely so much on, but the JPM vocal could never be combined with a visual performance by the band because it would have been far more likely to have caused people to make the connection. I think this is a bit of a smoking gun. Gosh darn, this is weird stuff...

the piano player in this is NOT campbell. lol Two things. 1. If it's not Campbell on piano in the b/w clip, then who is it? 2. Either way, I posted the wrong link. Here is the one I meant to post: www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sEnTq6Aqvw&feature=relatedExplanation: I was at work and had several windows open at once. I had copied the link to the b/w clip, but thought I had copied the link to the color clip, when I suddenly had to close all the Youtube windows because my boss stopped by. The nerve of bosses.

I was semi-joking. there is not one clear face frame in that first TV clip, the camera flies over him pretty fast.....anyway, junior was born in 1947....

I clicked on Ob-la-di and I thought the poster had made a mistake or something. "This is the Beatles" are among the comments too. Yesterday my other half arrived home with Best Of Marmalade on cassette, purloined form her dad's collection, and it's the same version. I loved Cousin Norman as a kid, never knew who did it! Very strange path they took, from 60's psychedelia pop to disco later on!

Badfinger is very interesting, indeed. TWO suicides in the same band should most definitely raise a few flags. Especially since one took place within 9 months of the Mal Evans solution. Pete Ham: April 25, 1975. Mal Evans: January 5, 1976. This book looks to be well worth my time. Thanks for posting it! Oh, and I just found out that when Badfinger were The Iveys, they toured with The Who, The Moody Blues (Denny Laine), and The Spencer Davis Group. Steve Winwood of Spencer Davis went on to form Traffic, and I've always suspected that "The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" has some PID/PWR/Brian was murdered overtones. "If you see something that looks like a star And its shooting up out of the ground And your head is spinning from a loud guitar And you just can't escape from the sound Don't worry too much, it'll happen to you We were children once, playing with toys And the thing that you're hearing is only the sound of The low spark of high-heeled boys The percentage you're paying is too high priced While you're living beyond all your means And the man in the suit has just bought a new car From the profit he's made on your dreams But today you just read that the man was shot dead By a gun that didn't make any noise But it wasn't the bullet that laid him to rest was The low spark of high-heeled boys If you had just a minute to breathe and they granted you one final wish Would you ask for something like another chance?Or something similar as this? don't worry too much It'll happen to you as sure as your sorrows are joys And the thing that disturbs you is only the sound of The low spark of high-heeled boys If I gave you everything that I owned and asked for nothing in return Would you do the same for me as I would for you? Or take me for a ride, and strip me of everything including my pride But spirit is something that no one destroysAnd the sound that Im hearing is only the sound The low spark of high-heeled boys

The thing that struck me on this was "Baby make it soon" being part of the lyrics for BADFINGER'S Day After Day This was something we discussed a LONG time ago under Joey Mulland as being a Paul look a like the lyrics for Day after Day I remember finding out about you every day my mind is all around you Looking out from my lonely room Day after day Bring it home BABY MAKE IT SOON I give my love to you ...I didn't include the second verse because it sounds more like a love song, rather than a PID/PWR song I'm thinking that it could be many lyrics suggest something to Paul being replaced, but blanketed, if you should say, around other lyrics not to be too obvious, but suggesting it. Badfinger was something Faul had alot to do with and while researching this song again, I never knew, but should have known, George played guitar on this song. No wonder it sounded so much like the Beatles...at least with regards to George's playing. I'm starting to think "Invasion of the Paul People"...the more research being done on this subject and finding Paul look a likes all around us. Dino Danelli Joey Mulland Jr. Campbell.... who else will surface with the striking looks of Mc Cartney?

to me no one of them looks close to Mccartney. and i posted the pic above. JPM looks a little like Jr. Campbel on it, not much. "Faul" however looks exactly like Paul so who is Faul i think not Dino Danelli nor joey Mulland nor Jr. Campbell.

"Faul" looks a lot like Paul, maybe because he is Paul.
