Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but here's what happens when you search for a movie title with words fewer than four characters: " The following search terms were removed because they were less than 4 characters long:
I'm
Not" Anyways, I watched the Dylan movie, I'M NOT THERE last night, and I think there's a lot to discuss, as Dylan is portrayed as SIX DIFFERENT PEOPLE, and is portrayed by six different actors, including an 11 year old African American boy, and a woman (Cate Blanchett). Here's a synopsis from Wikipedia:
"The film opens with Bob Dylan walking out on a stage at his concert to perform, then it cuts to him riding his motorcycle just before he crashes, just as he did in 1966, and ends up having an autopsy performed on him. Marcus Carl Franklin, a young African American actor plays ( A LEFT-HANDED) Woody Guthrie, an 11-year old version of Dylan who names himself after his idol. Woody carries around a guitar labeled "This Machine Kills Fascists" Ben Whishaw plays a young rebel version of Dylan who calls himself after the poet Arthur Rimbaud. Arthur is mostly seen in an interrogation room where he tells people stories of his life; he is somewhat of a narrator of all six stages of Dylan's life throughout the film.Which reminded me of this exchange from AHDN: Press: What do you call that hairstyle? George: Arthur. Cate Blanchett portrays (Hey) Jude Quinn (the Eskimo), a version of Dylan who was at the height of his fame in the 60's, when his original fan base was rejecting him as a sell-out.See this thread for the possible PID/PWR Quinn the Eskimo connection: invanddis.proboards29.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=pidpix&thread=4909&page=1The best part however is this: Richard Gere portrays Billy the Kid, a version of the elderly Dylan with the other stories being in the past of this story. This story focuses on Dylan's country life of the Woodstock era and his later years (ALTHOUGH, IT SEEMS MUCH MORE LIKE CIVIL WAR PERIOD...). Billy is first seen waking up to the barking of his dog "Henry", he takes his dog outside and ties his leash to a fence but the dog manages to run away. Billy is then forced to look for her in the woods but does not catch her. Billy then has flashbacks of HIS PAST LIFE of the Robbie Clark persona, when his marriage failed. Billy later meets up with his friend Homer, a reference to Dylan's song from "The Basement Tapes", "Open the Door, Homer". Homer is seen selling some of his old belongings as Billy asks if Homer had seen his dog, which he had not seen. Homer tells Billy of Old Man Pat Garrett's destruction of Riddle County, and the suicides of the depressed people as well as murders, amongst them was a young girl named Ms. Henry (not to be confused with Billy's dog). Billy then goes to Riddle County to pay his respects to Ms. Henry and Mr. Montgomery for their services. As the townspeople are celebrating Halloween the FUNERAL services are being held outdoors as a (VERY PEPPER-LIKE) band sings Dylan's haunting Basement Tapes song "Going to Acapulco" (performed by JIM JAMES of My Morning Jacket along with the band Calexico). After the services Pat Garrett (played by Bruce Greenwood) arrives and confronts the townspeople. Billy puts on a Halloween mask to disguise himself and tells Garrett to stay clear of Riddle County. Garrett asks what his names is, Billy replies "William" ; Garrett then asks him to show him his face, Billy then takes off his mask and reveals himself, which Garrett recognizes him. This indicates that Garrett is a reincarnation of Keenan Jones. Garrett then orders the authorities to arrest Billy. Billy is then taken to the county jail. Billy later escapes from jail with the help of Homer and runs to the running trains as Billy catches a ride. Homer stays behind gives his farewell to Billy. Billy then sees his dog Henry one last time as he is riding on the train, he calls for her but doesn't catch up with the train in time, Billy then says "Goodbye my Lady". Billy later finds a guitar that reads "This Machine kills Fascists", the same guitar he had as Woody Guthrie. Billy then sits in the train and plays the guitar. Billy's final words are "People are always talking about freedom, and how to live a certain way. Course the more you live a certain way the less it feels like freedom. Me? I can change during the course of a day. When I wake I'm one person, when I go to sleep I know for certain I'm somebody else. I don't know who I am most of the time. It's like you got yesterday, today and tomorrow all in the same room. There's no telling what's going to happen". The train then rides off. It is suggested that Dylan as Billy is taking the train to the "Never Ending Tour", which he still resides today. Here's the PEPPER-LIKE Band performing. Pay special attention at :21 seconds...

Uh, OK. I'm always a bit hesitant to put much credence in nouveau artsy-fartsy films. There's no question that Dylan is in on the conspiracy ("Ballad of a Thin Man"), but I'm not optimistic we'll be able to glean much from this film. (Feel free, of course. ;D) "I'm Not There" wiki link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I'm_Not_There Of course, Quinn the Eskimo makes an appearance in "Junior's Farm": You should have seen me with the pokerman I had no money and I bet a grand Just in the nick of time I looked at his hand I was talking to an eskimo Said he was hoping for a fall of snow When up popped a sea lion ready to go. (a sea lion is a class of submarine) Let's go let's go let go let go Down to junior's farm where I want to lay low Low life high life, ooh let's go Take me down to junior's farm. And yes, I'd really like proboards to know how much we hate their 'new' Search engine which absolutely doesn't work. It wasn't broken; they shouldn't have "fixed" it.

I think there's too much in this film to ignore the probability that at least some of the PID/PWR stuff was deliberate. In particular, the Richard Gere (Billy "William" the Kid) character: 1. Flashbacks to past lives. 2. Billy is arrested. 3. Billy escapes from jail. 4. The military band playing at the funeral, ESPECIALLY this guy: Who looks more than a little bit like this guy: And of course, Billy's final words: "Me? I can change during the course of a day. When I wake I'm one person, when I go to sleep I know for certain I'm somebody else. I don't know who I am most of the time. It's like you got yesterday, today and tomorrow all in the same room. I didn't mean to be discouraging. It's just that you may recall a recent play that bombed on Broadway. About someone named Lennon. 20 people played the part. No one could figure out who it was supposed to be. Also it's hard for people to comment on a film that they haven't seen. (Meaning us here.) I'd be willing to bet that you are correct, and that someone did put some PID clues in the movie, but since the film is alledgedly about Dylan, my best guess is that it will be like a bad Grandfather Aleister video in terms of clue-helpfulness. I like your posts, P(D)enny La(i)ne, but I'm Not There with this one, but certainly there are others here who may have something to say. Give me some time to mull this one over a bit more. After all, if The Shining is PID...

After all, if The Shining is PID... B, I wasn't implying that you were being discouraging, but I suppose that's the danger of the written word. Even WITH emoticons, sometimes things are taken the wrong way. AND...I don't expect everyone to climb right aboard the P(D)enny Express without some much appreciated critical analysis. After all, that's what we're all here for, no? Having said that though, there's NO WAY that guy in the movie (I pictured him above) looks that much like Sgt. Pepper by accident. And incidentally, there's something about JIM JAMES (the guy singing GOING TO ACAPULCO in the movie) that reminds me of James McCartney (son of Macca) and Viv Stanshall, but I haven't had the time yet to hunt for corroborating evidence. Some help? Mbird?

If I may revive an old thread, I think the actual movie is irrelevant. The Original Basement Tapes cover from 1975 was a clear reference to Sgt Pepper. Also, the comparison between The Basement Tapes and the bigger Sgt Pepper (IE with Penny Lane/Strawberry Fields) is inevitable: both convey a feeling that can be best described as Psychedelic Nostalgia - in contrast to Hendrix-style futuristic psychedelia or Dylan's earlier "thin mercury sound". And, to anyone weak in Dylanology, what he basically did in the basement of Big Pink was...teach The Band to play! Before that, they were The Hawks, a no-nonsense rock n roll band who hardly heard of him, and for whom folk was kind of sissy. After the basement....History. The first Americana band. Now granted, Sgt Pepper is NOT the first "Brit-pop" album. The Kinks got there first. But it was certainly the EPITOME of it.

hmmm....lately James Corden seems to keep the company of characters who change their Actor and "regenerate" Allowing that Mike Love isn't there to spoil a masterpiece with his birthday! That was kind of a lame episode in an otherwise brilliant season. Now why was it lame? Why....was...it ......lame? ....there's something I'm missing here..... ...missing..... ! Karen Gillan.

You could think of 'dove' as d'ova, which suggests 'of eggs'. The common version of the story says that Yona was swallowed by a whale. The word 'walrus' descends from the word 'whale'.
