I have never been into this particular area before, so I am sorry that I missed your comment until now. Now I'll have to go back and see what I said, since you didn't quote me. I will say though, that I know MANY adults that have no skills at all when it comes to identifying the difference between truth and lies. Lies have made their lives easier, and they fight like hell to keep it that way.

I am finding it hilarious that I have been categorized as a Jesus Freak now, as I imagine my comments were pertaining to the "other side" so to speak.

Hmmm - from your response I can only conclude that you feel I am being a smart ass? I ASSURE you I am not being flippant. I would give anything that I have to be able to honestly be able to tell who is evil in this world, and who is lying to me.

You have no idea how much damage liars have caused to my life.

So to say you need to argue with me is confusing? No argument at all, except that maybe I am having a very hard time believing it is possible. But only because I feel I have tried every method I know of and nothing worked for me.

Apparently Mr. 8749 will not share his insights with us. He seemed so confident in the beginning, saying it only takes 'common sense' to tell a liar and manipulator from a decent human being.

Experience has taught me that if they are good liars, it isn't so easy to tell the wolves in sheep's clothing. Even someone I had known since I was 11 years old, who I believed I knew better than anyone else in the world, was in reality completely opposite to the person they had represented themselves to be all those years. It was a shocking wake-up for me.

So since Mr. 8749 won't help me out, I will share with you the only useful thing I've learned so far. BEWARE CONFUSION. If someone speaks in riddles, or talks around in circles and avoids direct communication - RUN AWAY as fast as you can.

To discern truth, I read the Bible. Proverbs and First Corinthians are a good place to start. And, by the way, there's a Paul talked about in the Bible. I don't think his last name was McCartney.

I've read the Bible many times. It helps discern some truth about life and reality, but I don't see how that assists us in determining who is a liar? In fact, I relied heavily on prayer and the holy spirit's guidance, and that is when I was suckered-in by the worst liars of all. So in MY OWN EXPERIENCE, the Bible does not provide supernatural protection against being lied to.

It instructs you to 'know them by their fruit,' but sometimes by the time you have waited long enough to see what kind of 'fruit' that person exhibits, they have already had time to rob you blind and convince you of lots of things. It seems that there needs to be a quicker more instantaneous way, so that we can see them coming and run away, instead of investing in someone waiting to see (possibly years) how they will turn out.

'Forgiveness' has turned into a debacle for me personally. Any time anyone said they were sorry and wanted a second chance, I felt obligated to forgive them and do everything I could to assist them in turning their life around. I also learned that this is another method of taking advantage of forgiving people, because words are cheap, and liars know how to manipulate forgiving people.

So yes, there is good information there - but there are also potential pitfalls too. Turning your cheek 7x70 times led me astray.for a while.

I want to assure you again 8749, that was not, nor am I now mocking your statement. I really do believe there is nothing more important facing humanity right now than having the ability to tell truth from lies.

We can see now how insane our government has become, and how far it has been allowed to go because people choose to believe the lie, instead of doing the hard work necessary to deal with the true reality. Sometimes out of laziness, sometimes because we truly can't see it, but I think the percentages of apathy, laziness and fear are far outweighing anyone's desire or ability to stand-up and fight the hard fight.

If you are a Bible believer, what is your opinion about God's hardening someone's heart, as he did with Moses? Because as I recall, I think in Joel, it says that all these horrible things will come to pass, and that after a certain point if a person hasn't chosen the path to God, then his heart will be hardened. I would think after that point there is nothing any of us could do to reach that person?

Faith is a private, personal issue. Any interest I have in this board is because of the Paul McCartney mystery. If you read the Bible and pray to GOD, you'll get your answers.
It's when people overthink, think they're cool, or despair is when they start having problems. Maybe that's what happened to Paul.

Well, as I stated earlier, I tried that and it didn't work for me.

The solution to that problem tends to be - blame the victim. I didn't have enough faith, I didn't study enough (impossible), I didn't pray enough (also impossible), I didn't pray in the right way, I didn't speak in tongues, I didn't have the right attitude, I wasn't thankful enough, ...etc. etc.

There is of course no way for me to prove how diligently I followed the program set before me, but I feel confident that I invested myself 100%.

You are absolutely certain that there are no lies that you are currently believing? That seems a pretty tall order, considering the layers and non-ending supply there is of them?

I think the Moses thing was talking about the pharaoh.
I believe some translations say God 'let' his heart become obstinate.

From what I understand, sometimes permission of some event
(in Hebrew) could read as a cause, or maybe causes to (in English).
So God wasn't causing pharaoh's heart to become that way.
But, he showed his badness through his actions (not letting the Israelites go - even after the plagues).
He had free will but chose to do what he did.

He was really arrogant and extraordinarily prideful.
And he paid for it.

Sorry, I worded that poorly. Yes, when I said with Moses, I meant using Moses to deliver the Hebrews, and then Pharaoh's heart was hardened against them.

It has been quite a few years since my word study, but I didn't feel confident at the time that there wasn't some kind of "effecting" going on there. And the only reason I bring it up is that it surely seems that people's eyes have become closed to what is clearly right in front of them? Just makes me wonder.

Lies are stranger than I knew. They are insidious and I realize now that I have actually been participating more than I would have thought, even if in an unwitting way. But our collective silence and 'turning the other cheek' has allowed them to bulldoze their way through this world.
