There has been some discussion of this recently, so I thought I'd post some of my findings here. Again, make of it what you will. I just find it odd that after 2+ years of playing for hours every night in Hamburg, Paul hadn't established a consistent playing style by 1964.
Here's an odd Paul that holds his guitar and plays by plucking with his thumb up by the neck. With his elbow tucked way in and his guitar angled way out. Very sloppy and awkward stage presence. This a performance of I Wanna Be Your Man in 1964 during the Big Night Out Show on British TV.

The Paul in this video has the same stage presence and awkward performance style. Here they are performing Twist And Shout and She Loves You.

This is the Paul with the droopy, detached right earlobe.

During this performance of Twist & Shout he plucks by the pickups, and during She Loves You he plucks with his fingers up by the neck.
This Paul has a big head and long chin like a lot of the Pepper-era Fauls.

Here is the performance of She Loves You at the Royal Variety Show during the same time frame. Different performance styles.

And here they're playing She Loves You in Sweden

And here’s a performance where he checks the fingerings on his guitar on several occasions. fwiw. He also bobs his leg to the beat in an odd way I've never seen him do before.

Here his hair appears to be a wig, in the back down at his neck. I believe this is from the performance I posted first.
We’ve seen a wig on Paul before, here in 1965.
Feel free to add more findings and thoughts to this thread. Did his playing style evolve after signing with EMI? I know I've seen more discrepancies from 1963-1966, but will have to remember from what performances.
