At the height of Beatlemania in June 1964, The Beatles arrived in Adelaide, SA to a thunderous reception with over 300,000 people there to see them. As a young boy just coming into my teens, I was a big fan, however I didn’t get to see them on their arrival because it was a school day and we were threatened with expulsion if we didn’t attend school. But I did get to see them on the day they left Adelaide. My parents took us kids to see them off and we lined up on the road to Adelaide Airport to watch the car drive past with The Beatles inside. I was lucky enough to have Paul McCartney look at me and wave. Fifty Five years later, I now wonder who it was that I saw. Were they the real Beatles? At the time, I compiled a few pictures taken from the local TV Week magazine and I pasted them into an old exercise book which, for some strange reason, I have kept since then. Crooked Teeth George This guy is the real George in my belief. Obviously, the pictures are poor resolution being from the 60’s and early magazine covers in colour, but the differences are pretty clear. The question is why? Perfect Teeth George But this guy is obviously an imposter wearing a bad wig.
