OMG I've not watched this film for about 30 years at least. Woody Allen, Sleeper. I'm reading the plot on Wikipedia and I'm like, "I don't remember any of this." Then I got to this bit and I remembered that big flat nose on steam roller and I'm just pissin' meself laughing.
Woody Allen was one of the great visual comedians. You could watch him fucking about with something and be in stitches laughing. On a par with any silent movie great or Laurel & Hardy. I'm looking at two films Love and Death and Annie Hall. He doesn't seem to have those "funny bones" from Annie Hall onwards.
That Sleeper has cloning in it makes it even more hilarious. I'm still laughing. What's going on? Do you all follow some evil genius who's frozen all these superstars' DNA and when you've killed us all off he's going to resurrect them for your entertainment in some crazy fucked up dystopia.

I streamed Sleeper and Bananas yesterday and I'm going to stream Love and Death and Annie Hall today. If I don't see the Woody that had me laughing my ass off in Annie Hall I'm making a thread on him.
There's a montage in Bananas where he's training training to be a revolutionary set to New Orleans jazz, and there's this bit where he pulls the pin on a grenade and throws the pin. The grenade goes off in his hand. Then it comes back and he does it again but this time he throws the grenade. He's looking all pleased with himself and the pin goes off in his hand. PMSL writing this.
