I saw The Band play outdoors at Watkins Glen racetrack in late July, 1973.
I don't remember how many people showed up for that one, it was a few hundred thousand, in any event.
I was 50 feet from the stage in the center.
The Band opened the show with one of their hit songs but for the life of me I can't remember what the song was (maybe Cripple Creek ?)
Second ones up were The Grateful Dead and a little after midnight came The Allman Brothers.
All this for ten dollars.
The organic orange mescaline was not included in the ten bucks, but hey---what's complaining gonna get me ?

I'm still kicking myself for never having gotten up to Levon's barn before he flew the coop.
