Schapelle Corby was found guilty and given 20 yrs in prison for smuggling 4.1kg of marijuana into Bali. Prosecution are appealing for the death penalty.
Abu Bakar Bashir has been found guilty of masterminding the 2002 Bali bombings that killed 202 people, including 88 Australians. He was sentenced to 2.5 years!
HOW IS THIS FAIR!
In October 2004 Schapelle Corby set out with her family on a 10 day holiday in Bali to enjoy the beach and the surf. Instead of happy holiday memories and a sun tan she has endured a harrowing nightmare burned with humiliation and injustice. On her arrival in Bail, she was found to have 4.1kg of marijuana in her boogey board bag, she was then arrested and thrown into a 3 meter x 3 meter prison cell with 8 other women. On May 27, 2005, Schapelle was wrongfully convicted and unfairly sentenced to 20 years in prison. The prosecution think this is far too lenient and are appealing for the death penalty.. Schapelle is appealing for her innocence!
Some facts about Schapelle Corby, Indonesia, and the Australian Government's relationship with Indonesia
* Schapelle Corby is a 27 year old woman from Queensland, Australia, who was travelling to Bali.
* Drug traffickers smuggle drugs out of Indonesia, not into Indonesia. The 4.1kg of cannabis found in Schapelle's bag could have been bought for less than $100 in Bali, but is worth much more in Australia. Therefore, there is no financial motive for Schapelle to smuggle such drugs into Bali.
* No evidence or witnesses have been presented who can connect Schapelle with the drug trade.
* Australian Federal Police drugs specialists were denied the right to test the drugs to determine their real origin. Such tests could have allowed Australian authorities to find the real villains.
* The trial has no jury.
* If her appeal fails (the Indonesian authorities have also launched an appeal, pushing for a tougher sentence), she could be sentenced to a more severe penalty, including `execution by firing squad' - in other words, murder by the Government. Why is this murder? Because the Government, in imposing a irreversible penalty (death), is arrogantly claiming that it never makes mistakes. 12 barbaric Indonesian soldiers will be ordered to point their high calibre rifles at her pretty figure, shackled to a pole, and tear her to pieces with a barrage of gunshots.
* Indonesian authorities have a history of murdering innocent foreigners - in 1975, when they invaded East Timor, 5 journalists (2 Australian, 2 British and 1 from New Zealand) were executed by the Indonesian military on pretend charges of communism. Just like Schapelle's case, there was no evidence and no jury. These men became known as the Balibo Five.
* Despite these murders, the Australian Government was the only Government to recognise Indonesia's illegal annexation of East Timor (despite the fact that many East Timorese people died helping Australian soldiers defeat the Japanese in World War II). Despite outrage from the Australian people, the Government sought to profit from the illegal invasion for 25 years.
* The airlines and airports have failed to identify any staff members who may have been involved in handling Schapelle's baggage.
* There have been numerous incidents where baggage handlers have tampered with bags. They have been accused of using baggage to transport drugs between Australian capital cities. When the alleged criminals at the receiving airport fail to find the bag where the drugs are hidden, it continues onto another connecting flight, putting the bag's owner at great risk. Bags containing drugs are often marked with chalk so that they will be easily spotted by the intended recipient.
* Many countries in the far east impose the death penalty on anyone found in possession of drugs.
* Indonesia is the world's largest Muslim country and is Australia's closest neighbour. Bali is a resort island where Australians often go for holidays.
* Brisbane airport have sent a legal letter stating Schapelle Corbys bag was x-rayed whilst in holding, she did not have access to the bag again until after she landed in Bali. The bag was cleared for any prohibited contents and then transferred from Brisbane to Bali, via Sydney.
* The Australian Federal Polive (AFP) requested to finger print the plastic bag the weed was contained in… the Indonesian Police have advised this is not possible as it has all their finger prints over it.. Not wearing gloves whilst handling evidence, sounds really obvious if you ask me.
* Schapelle Corby’s lawyers have demanded video footage from Bali airport, alledgedly showing Schapelle attempting to stop the custom officer from unzipping her bag. Schapelle Corby said that the customs officer pointed at her bag and asked her brother if the bag belonged to him. Corby replied that it was hers. According to her version of events, she opened her bag without being asked by the customs officer. The customs officer, Gusti Nyoman Winata, gave a different version of the event. He said that he asked Corby to open her bag and she opened up an empty compartment of the bag. When he demanded a different compartment of the bag to be opened, she tried to prevent him from opening the bag himself. The footage was not produced.
She accidentally stumbled into a criminal network when the drugs were slipped into her bag once it cleared security checks, to be collected by a worker at Sydney airport.
Schapelle was used a 'mule' to in a racket of drug pushers and curupt bagage handlers. costing her freedom, possibly even her life.
There is now sufficient evidence that point at the truth of this story. It is already known who the people responsible for this are, where they are, how they came into this ordeal , where the drugs were going to, how the drugs had got into her bag. But Indonesia will not listen!
John Patrick Ford, currently a remand prisoner at Port Phillip Prison, Australia, gave evidence in Corby's defence. Ford previously worked as a public servant for the (Australian) Child Support Agency (CSA).
Ford stated that he overheard a conversation within a prison between two men and alleges one of the men planted the marijuana in Corby's boogie board bag in Brisbane with the intent of having another person remove it in Sydney. Ford went on to state that a simple mixup resulted in the marijuana not being removed and subsequently being transported to Indonesia, all without Corby's knowledge. Once in Indonesia the marijuana was quickly located by Indonesian customs officials.
Ford stated that the drugs were owned by Ron Vigenser, who had been a prisoner at the same jail as Ford (but was recently released) but has refused to name the man who he states planted the drugs for fear that he, and possibly Corby, would be killed if he did so. Vigenser has strenuously denied any connection with the drugs in the Australian media and has reportedly given a statement to the Australian Federal Police.
Following communication from Corby's legal team and the Australian government, the Indonesian government made a request under the Mutual Assistance Treaty for Ford to be transported to Indonesia to give evidence.
The prosecution attacked Ford's evidence, pointing out that his evidence is entirely hearsay and that he is facing trial for several serious offences in Australia. They remarked that he may have wanted a "taste of freedom" by testifying in Corby's trial. Since returning from Bali, Ford has been beaten and stabbed in jail and is now in solitary confinement for his own protection.
The corrupt dealers don’t care who they burn up. They will even find it funny. They do not care what happens to people that use their drugs. Nor would they care for innocent victims like Schapelle whom they force to bear the concequences of their action. Do you think that those drugdealers care if corby gets shot. They might even find it funny.
Schapelle is innocent!
