What is the craziest dumbest thing/s you would buy if you were half as rich as Faul? Which would still make you a billionaire.
I would have a large house with theme rooms and some of those themes would be 1950's 60's 70's, filled with antiques.
ofcourse you know I'd have a bad arse, pimped out fallout bunker underneath.
What I won't buy are Velvet Elvises, (ok maybe just one for my Elvis room) gold tortoise shells, life size Blues brothers Statue, Samari swords (ok maybe one for my Kill Bill room).

I'd buy whole lot of puppies and a whole lot of land to raise them on, a house made of blue windows for my mother, a lot of bags and shoes for my sister, and I'd give my dad a lot of it so he could retire early. That's all I can really think of... I'm not really too extravagant!

If I had half of Sir Faul's money, I would take voice lessons and make the world a better place with my singing.
oh wait, that sounds like a Miss America Contestant response....
I would open a PID/PWR resource center and expose the lies of Sir Paul.
I'd also buy a limited edition, autographed copy of Muskrat Love and mail it to DOC!
I would buy a full sized cutout of Ringo and send it to Mommybird.
I would take everyone out to a banquet where a man dressed like John Lennon will shovel large amounts of spaghetti onto everyone's plates. and NO I would not hire Charlie Brill to dress like John!
I would furnish every porta potty with squeezably soft Charmin toilet paper instead of that manly rough paper.
I would have autobots available at parks that would automatically pick up the doggie doo that nasty dog owners don't pick up.
And I think I would also take all of the grease that is wrung out of fast food fries and use that to jiffy lube everyone's vehicles...If I could I wished I would...I really would...

Gosh Rita, you make me feel bad for having been so self-centered as to put down "chocolate". But, I still would. Mindgames wrote: "I would have a large house with theme rooms and some of those themes would be 1950's 60's 70's, filled with antiques."I seem to have that all ready.

"I would end up giving it all away, I'm sure. To poor people. "
Yes, I am sure we would all do that, that is why I asked you all to stretch and think of something silly or crazy that you would do.
I would want to help people that are not begging and do not expect to be helped yet could really use the money. which means I would have to actively search for such people.
I don't believe in charities the big ones are 90% corrupt the little ones might be better like meals for elderly. I think affordable housing and other services for single people without children is greatly needed. People need to research the charities they give to. Find out what the salaries are, affiliates, philosophy, services ect., not just give because its a well know name, because charities are businesses and they need the "ill" to exist in order to fight against the "ill" and exist themselves.
I drove around 2 weeks ago looking for a homeless person to give a bag of fresh food to. I had trouble finding one I thought I might need to park and walk around downtown, finally I spotted one in the "richer" part of town panhandeling he took it and put it out of sight so he could continue to panhandle I wish I had given to someone who was actually hungry I should have found someone who wasn't begging.

..........of course he continued to pan handle. Do you really think you solved his life w/ a tuna fish sandwich? I'm not on your case, I just think many people don't understand the full sociological repercussions of modern society, why it is and how it got this way. You didn't know anything personal about the man you helped - which is quite admirable that you took the time for a positive action!- yet you judged his reaction as being ungrateful, thus ruining your charitable experience. So were you doing it for him, or yourself? He was simply continuing to survive the day to day of his existence, as he knows how.
ok though, if I had all that cash, I would keep enough to be comfortable, and the rest I would use to open chains of organic/juice/health food restaurants for a few years in impoverished areas and give it all for free. Very high end foods, which would combine both creative and personal goals. I am too pragmatic at this point in my life to do something silly and wasteful with money.

No, I don't know the man and no I obviously didn't think I just solved all his problems. All I was saying is that this man was not hungry, he was begging for money not for food (despite what the sign read) other beggers immediately eat the food I give them and continue to beg at the very least I expected him to check inside the bags. I did not expect him to immediately hide it.
He was probably looking for beer or drug money. I've seen them get money then go to the store (that I was headed to) and buy beer. I have seen them get on thier motorcycle and drive away. Being naive is not admiral, even for you. To assume that everyone holding a sign begging is actually poor is naive on your part. And it was lazy on my part to assume he was hungry just because his sign said he was.
My point was that we should not be lazy and naive and that people that really need help are not so easily found. AND THANK YOU FOR ACCUSING ME OF BEING SELFISH, yeah I drove around burning up my gas and waisting my money on food,... for myself. If I was being self-centered I wouldn't have bothered now would I? For you to even suggest that when one gives they must not miss out on a wonderful experience ie feelings, sounds to me that all your lipservice is self serving so that you can feel good about yourself. I just wanted to feed someone that day, that is all, someone that was really hungry, I wasn't looking for some magical happy feelings to make myself feel better. What do you do for the poor?
You do not even know who the real poor are in America and if you do give to charity I am sure you don't bother to check thier annual financial report to actually see where the money goes. The greatest thing you can do for the poor is make sure that you are actually helping the poor.

That is why I brought it up, I notice that when people win the lottery they all of a sudden have so much money they don't know what to do with it, and ultimately even after helping people, they end up buying the stupidiest things and then end up broke. That made me wonder about people like Paul McCartney sitting on billions and clinging to every nickel. The more money you have the more stingy and self centered you become. I am not above being effected by money that is why I try not to be motivated to attain it. I know that if I had a lot of it I would fall into the same trap., even after fullfilling all my philantropic interest. "I am too pragmatic at this point in my life to do something silly and wasteful with money." Believe me, it takes about 30 seconds to adjust when the opportunity presents itself.
